My Angel Girl

Chapter 41: The Song Of Chaos

Flame Island glowed ominously in the morning light, with rivers of molten lava snaking through the terrain and the constant hiss of steam rising from the fissures. Above the ever-shifting landscape, Kikidori perched on the edge of his obsidian throne, his wings folded behind him, staring out at the fiery horizon. Cerberus was bounding around the courtyard below, chasing a piece of rubble as though it were the most exciting thing in existence.

Kikidori shook his head, his lips twitching into a bemused smile. "This dog," he muttered. He leaned back, letting the eerie silence of Flame Island fill the air. Then, with a sigh, he began to hum, his voice low and melodic, resonating through the halls of the castle. The hum grew into words, and soon, Kikidori was singing—his voice carrying both a sarcastic edge and an undercurrent of genuine affection.

Verse 1

"The sun is shining, over this cursed land,

Yesterday, chaos was at hand,

Cerberus, you fool, how'd you survive?

Diving headfirst where only flames thrive."

Kikidori glanced down at the Chihuahua, who had now leapt onto a rock dangerously close to a pool of bubbling lava. He groaned, his wings twitching in irritation, but he didn't interrupt his song.

Verse 2

"You bark at shadows, you chew on stone,

This island of fire is your chaotic home.

The void called my name, and I almost fell,

But you wagged your tail like, 'Oh, well.'"

He stood and stepped down from the throne, his boots clicking against the obsidian floor. As the song continued, his tone shifted from exasperation to something softer, though still laced with his signature sarcasm.

Chorus

"Cerberus, you little beast,

On chaos and danger, you feast.

You thrive where demons tread,

Yesterday, fire almost burnt you dead!"

Cerberus barked loudly as if in agreement, wagging his tail furiously. Kikidori rolled his eyes but couldn't help the smirk that tugged at the corner of his lips. He paced along the balcony, the glow of the lava below illuminating his sharp features.

Verse 3

"This island's a death trap, a molten maze,

And yet you frolic through the fiery haze.

Your tiny paws, they somehow survive,

While I question how you're still alive."

Kikidori crouched down on the edge of the balcony, resting his chin in his hand as he watched Cerberus narrowly avoid another dangerous patch of lava. He let out a sigh, his voice dropping to a more contemplative tone.

Bridge

"Maybe you're a symbol of this twisted life,

Surviving through chaos, thriving in strife.

A dumb little dog, yet somehow so wise,

You teach me to see through cynical eyes."

For a moment, Kikidori paused, staring out into the distance. The harsh landscape of Flame Island seemed oddly serene in the golden light of the rising sun. Cerberus's happy barks echoed below, a sound of unrelenting joy in a place designed for torment.

Chorus (Reprise)

"Cerberus, you little beast,

On chaos and danger, you feast.

You thrive where demons tread,

Yesterday, fire almost burnt you dead!"

As Kikidori hit the last note, his wings unfurled slightly, and he stretched, shaking off the contemplative mood that had momentarily settled over him.

Outro

"So here we are, on this island of flame,

You and I, surviving the same.

Keep being dumb, you foolish pup,

But next time, Cerberus, don't throw up."

With a final shake of his head, Kikidori stood and walked back inside, leaving Cerberus to his chaotic frolicking. Despite his grumbling, there was an undeniable fondness in his eyes as he glanced back at the tiny dog. Life on Flame Island was unpredictable, but at least he wasn't facing it alone.
