Chapter 32: celestial clash
The sky above Flame Island had turned into a roiling mass of smoke, lightning, and molten fury. The air hummed with power as Kikidori and Lucifer clashed once again, their battle shaking the very foundations of the earth beneath them. Kikidori's wings cut through the sky like twin blades, his eyes glowing with an otherworldly fire, while Lucifer, the Morningstar, moved like a shadow, his dark energy wrapping the sky in an inky shroud.
Their punches echoed like thunder, creating ripples in the atmosphere as they exchanged blow after blow. The very air around them crackled with the intensity of their conflict. Each strike sent shockwaves across the island, causing the lava below to churn and bubble in violent eruptions. Kikidori's body twisted with every attack, using his speed and strength to outmaneuver Lucifer, but the dark lord was relentless. Each time Kikidori thought he had the upper hand, Lucifer was already on the offensive, his body surging with dark energy.
"You still think you can defeat me?" Lucifer's voice boomed through the air, dark and filled with malice. "You've always been nothing but a foolish child, Kikidori. You will never escape me."
Kikidori growled, his fists clenched, his wings flaring as he darted toward Lucifer once again. "I'm not the one trying to escape, Morningstar," he snarled, "I'm here to end this once and for all."
With a powerful beat of his wings, Kikidori propelled himself at Lucifer with incredible speed. His fist connected with Lucifer's jaw, sending a wave of energy through the air. Lucifer staggered, but he quickly recovered, his eyes narrowing with fury. He swung his arm toward Kikidori, summoning a torrent of dark energy that exploded with a deafening roar.
Kikidori barely had time to react as the blast hit him, sending him plummeting to the earth below. He hit the ground hard, the impact shaking the very island. His wings flared to slow his fall, but the force of Lucifer's attack had taken its toll. Blood trickled from the corner of Kikidori's mouth, but he refused to stay down.
Meanwhile, on the ground below, the demons of Flame Island—the Outer-Demons—were fighting among themselves, caught in the chaos of the ongoing civil war. Demons, once loyal to Lucifer, had split into factions, each vying for control of the island and their future. Some sought to uphold Lucifer's reign, while others, like Kikidori, had broken away to create their own future. The explosions from the ongoing battle above rained down like fire, scattering the demons in every direction.
The island was divided, factions fighting viciously as the clash between the Outer-Demons continued to escalate. The very earth beneath them cracked and shattered, opening up chasms of molten lava, while the air was thick with the acrid scent of sulfur and smoke.
And then, the sky above them darkened further, as the angels of Heaven arrived.
With a flash of light, the celestial beings appeared, their wings radiant and glowing, creating a stark contrast against the violence below. The Seraphim, the highest rank of angels, descended like a celestial storm, their six wings folding around them as they hovered in the sky, their swords drawn. Behind them, the Cherubim, their young faces filled with resolve, followed closely, ready to protect Heaven from the chaos below.
The angels didn't come to participate in the war—they came to stop it. Heaven's presence in the skies above was a sign that the destruction caused by the ongoing conflict had reached a point where it could no longer be ignored. The explosions from the battles between Hell and Flame Island had begun to rain down on Earth, and Heaven was determined to put an end to it.
"Enough!" a booming voice echoed across the battlefield, causing both demons and angels to halt. It was the Archangel Michael, his golden armor gleaming in the light. His wings, wide and powerful, cast an imposing shadow over the chaos.
"Retreat, all of you," Michael commanded, his voice cold and unyielding. "This war ends now."
Lucifer's eyes flickered toward the angels as they appeared in the sky, his anger seething. He knew this would complicate things. Heaven's interference was exactly what he didn't need. The demons from Hell had been winning, but with Heaven now involved, the tide of battle was shifting.
Kikidori, still struggling to regain his footing on the cracked ground, saw the angels descend, and his heart skipped a beat. Was this the moment everything would change? Would Heaven side with him or with Lucifer? Were they truly here to stop the war, or was it just another attempt to subjugate the demons?
But the tension in the air grew heavier as the Seraphim and Cherubim circled above, waiting for orders. The sound of their wings cutting through the air was deafening, adding to the madness of the battlefield.
"You cannot stop me, Michael!" Lucifer shouted, his voice filled with rage. "I will not retreat. This is my domain. No one—no one—can take it from me!"
The Archangel Michael's gaze hardened, and his wings flared as he summoned the full force of Heaven's power. "This battle has cost too many lives. You've gone too far, Lucifer. Flame Island will not fall to your tyranny."
Kikidori's heart pounded as he watched the celestial beings prepare for war. He knew this was the moment everything would change—whether for better or for worse, he couldn't say. He had always wanted the freedom to make his own decisions, to live without being under the thumb of anyone—be it Lucifer or Heaven. But now, the war had escalated beyond his control, and the very foundations of Heaven, Hell, and Flame Island were shaking.
Suddenly, Kikidori felt a familiar presence, a warmth that broke through the coldness of the battlefield. Ere'ana. She had arrived.
With a flash of light, the Archangel appeared on the battlefield, her wings glowing like the sun. She stood between the Seraphim and the Outer-Demons, her eyes filled with determination and resolve. The moment she appeared, both sides fell silent, as if sensing her power.
"Ere'ana..." Kikidori muttered under his breath, a mixture of relief and uncertainty flooding his chest.
Ere'ana raised her hands to the sky, and a brilliant light shot forth, cascading down onto the battlefield. It didn't strike—no, it was a signal. A call for unity, for an end to the fighting.
With a deep breath, Ere'ana spoke, her voice carrying across the war-torn land.
"Enough fighting. Enough killing. I will not let Heaven and Hell destroy each other. I will not let the demons of Flame Island be caught in this endless war."
Her voice rang out like a bell, echoing across the land, and in that moment, something shifted. Kikidori could feel the shift, the change in the very air around them. He saw the demons pause, the angels hesitate. It was as if Ere'ana's words had pierced through the violence, reaching into the hearts of both sides.
And then, as if on cue, the impossible happened.
The Seraphim and the Outer-Demons began to lower their weapons, the animosity between Heaven and Flame Island easing. The battle that had raged for so long began to slow, and the forces that had once stood against each other now found themselves united under one cause—peace.
Lucifer stood frozen, his eyes wide with disbelief as the armies he had commanded faltered. He looked at Ere'ana, a mix of fury and realization on his face. "You... You've allied with them? With the demons of Flame Island?"
Ere'ana turned to face Lucifer, her eyes calm and resolute. "I've allied with the ones who seek freedom. And you, Morningstar, have lost."
Lucifer clenched his fists, his body trembling with rage. "This isn't over, Ere'ana. This is far from over."
But Ere'ana's gaze never wavered. "It is over for now."
And just like that, the battle came to an end. The angels, and the Outer-Demons—demons of flame island—stood in uneasy truce, the war that had nearly destroyed everything slowly coming to a halt.
