Chapter 170: Tech Heresy Incarnate 7

(Planet Chemos: Two Weeks Since Arrival)

(Adam POV)

You know, looking up at the sky, you truly see the scale of the universe. Everything looks so small, but yet every single factual text says the opposite. Each one of those little lights in the sky basically dwarfs most planets…

[If I may ask, sir… what was the reason for building this observatory?]

"Well, for one, it's practice specifically on my new nanotech creation abilities… On the other hand, it helps to keep me sane… When I was younger, I would take the small telescope I had and would walk to the nearby parks and just sit there for hours and hours, trying not to remember the pain, the loss…" Refocusing the telescope, I see various planets in the distance, each one entirely different.

Most of them, however, are currently uninhabitable as some lack atmospheres that allow them to sustain life. Others are having the same problems as this one; that being, since there's no sun, there's no photosynthesis, and there's no photosynthesis, nothing can grow. Not to mention the fact that it has on the water cycle.

[I see… Are you having fun?] Smiling, I see a hologram of Alpha appear next to me.

"I wouldn't exactly call it fun, but it helps me to feel, ironically enough, grounded. If I've learned anything, it's that I've always hated being confined. Going to the movies was almost torturous for me. I always had to keep moving or doing something or simply enjoy the fresh air. But I do appreciate the concern, Alpha, I truly do. But onto business—how goes the creation of the Zero Dawn mechs?" Alpha then displays various holographic screens, and I smile as I go over the data.

[Well, based on our current progress, we have reached 25% of our required forces, at least the ones that shall proceed over the northern hemisphere. The problem is going to be the various fortresses across the planet. There are very few of them, barely double digits, but I assume you can understand the variety of responses.]

Nodding my head, I continue to look over the data while slightly having a party in my head over the fact that I'm creating giant metal robots.

"Yes, to be honest, it's been so long since I've had to deal with another human, even though it's been two weeks. But I imagine the response we'll get will not be nice, especially if there are any survivors of the war against the machines." Alpha seems to almost growl in rage and vitriol for a moment, yet as I look over, I see her standing perfectly normal.

Deconstructing the telescope, I feel the individual nanites re-enter my body, and I do admit it's a strange feeling, like my entire body has become a type of vessel. I tested all the normal weapons, such as the ginormous swords, hands, and feet, but due to the lack of space, I have yet to create any vehicles out of my nanites.

In terms of strength testing, I can easily lift up the weight equivalent to multiple large buildings without the aid of the nanites. In terms of stamina and durability, it would take specifically forged or auramite, adamantium, or vibranium to even scratch my skin.

Upon receiving the results of the test, Alpha almost started jumping for joy as she seemingly developed a fear of me being hurt, which was cute.

I have been doing research on developing physical and spiritual bodies, but research has been slow as I've been trying to base it off of the physiology of the cardinal world from that slime anime. In a way, I want to make Alpha my own Great Sage, but to have the autonomy of a high-level Manas.

Looking over at Alpha going over all of the data, a small smile appears on my face.

"So, Alpha, have you decided on the design for your new form once we have completed all of the various projects?" For a moment, Alpha seems to pause in place, and I could almost see all of the processing power she's using to think of a response.

[To be honest, sir, I haven't made much progress on that front, as I have been entirely focusing on the creation of the Zero Dawn mechs as well as Project Helios.]

My smile dies at that moment. "Alpha, I know you have to do this work, but take time for yourself. We have all the time in the world now given the fact that the serum has basically almost made me immortal. This is very important. And also, let me know if you want me to design any virtual intelligences to assist you."

Alpha just seems to absorb that information, not knowing how to respond, yet as she turns around, I see her beginning to shake. But seeing that she may be having some trouble, I simply use the nanites to interact with her holographic form and pat her on the back.

"Take your time, Alpha. We are in this together always." I then return to the elevator that takes me down to the main laboratory. The observatory on the surface is heavily cloaked, using various retroreflective panels and other protective gear.

For now, I've been focusing on trying to counter the various weapons of all the factions by using a rather interesting method.

Since I can create all types of technology, I've just been recreating every single weapon I could think of off the top of my head and then figuring out ways to destroy it or disable it. To be honest, the biggest issue is the various energy weapons used by the Eldar and the Necrons.

The first is due to the fact that most of their weapons use foreign types of energy that I have never seen before, in addition to energies from the immaterial. The latter is the exact opposite, as their weaponry is mostly based around disintegrating their foes, as well as the ability to create weapons that not only cut through atoms but through multiple physical dimensions at once.

Take, for example, the normal axe of a Destroyer, one of the most common weapons of a dynasty. It can basically cut through nearly every physical material in existence. While it has little effect on warp-based creatures, as well as those that are more energy-based, anything physical is cut through like butter. To be honest, I even tested it against a lightsaber from Star Wars, and it was no contest at least, according to the simulations.

I have also been integrating other metals into my own nanotech systems as I want to be the perfect hybrid of the various metals. There is one that I've been trying to work out an alloy for, which is antimetal from the Marvel universe. It's a subset of vibranium that disturbs the very molecules of nearly every other type of metal, causing it to either turn into sludge or just straight up disintegrate.

Attempting to bond anything to antimetal is like trying oil and fire not to set each other alight.

Walking towards my workstation, I attempt to continue upgrading the reality anchor, as I'm going to need ways to transport these things across the entire galaxy. This can be done through usage of multiple teleportation technologies, but to be honest, due to lack of time, I have yet to develop any teleportation systems just yet.

I have considered doing the pocket universe method that Rick from Rick and Morty uses and simply creating time-displaced universes so that I can get more done, but then I remind myself that introducing smaller universes into the warp would not be a good idea. Not to mention the fact that I would need various minerals and materials that, if done incorrectly or used incorrectly, could send this entire planet into an endless singularity.

But even with all of these setbacks, everything was going according to plan. If given a couple years, I would eventually be able to not only create working space stations but spacecraft that could be able to outpace warp travel. I'm mostly thinking of using a combination of Halo slipspace and Mass Effect relay travel.

However, I'm going to have to find a different method for relay travel other than the usage of element zero, as it creates dark energy. And to be honest, this universe could use a lot more light than darkness.

I have noticed that after transmigrating here, my mind is just abuzz with so many ideas. Maybe it's because I finally have the capacity to act on everything I've wanted to do. I should start making a type of bucket list—things I want to do now that I have the freedom to traverse the very stars.

However, as I am thinking of what to put on the bucket list, alarms begin to blare as the atmospheric alarms say that we have incoming.

[Sir, the God's Eye has seen multiple pods entering the atmosphere… ETA for the pods landing is two minutes.]

"Where did they come from?" my voice asks as I hurry to the observatory.

[Based on the increasing psychic energy readings, as well as metaphysical disturbances, these pods have been released from the immaterial.]

As I enter the observatory and create a telescope, I watch as multiple pods fall right in front of my base.

And based on the designs… my stomach sinks as I see the twin eagles of the Imperium.

[Sir, didn't you say there was only supposed to be one Primarch landing on this planet?]

Before I can answer her, a small note appears in my hands, and as I read it, I begin to tear it apart.

"Think of this as a punishment for abusing the Bulwark Class… Have fun." As the pieces of the note disappear into the ether, my hands go to my face as I groan in frustration.

"Alpha… prepare to receive some guests. Looks like there's been a change of plans." As I form a hazmat suit around me using my nanotech, I walk outside and see the multiple pods in front of me and just wonder how salty can an omnipotent being be?

(Hello boys and girls, who's ready for a surprise adoption—or, in this case, multiple surprise adoptions. Let's just say that Emilio didn't want our resident inventor just turtling up in his lab. I'm trying to narrow down the number of baby Primarchs that our main character is going to take care of, but I already have a few in mind and also a big surprise the next chapter. Also feel free to recommend a design for Alpha at least her human form and try not to use the one from eminence in shadow.)
