Multiverse Farming System

Chapter 5 - A Three-Million-Yuan Debt

The purple jade rice was halved. Lin Yong wondered where the system took it to. He checked the interface and found himself in possession of 29450 points.

Got 20000 points. Lin Yong carefully tucked the remaining purple jade rice into his storage space, and he smacked his head. Forgot to keep some seeds around.

The system said, “You may purchase all kinds of seeds in the system store.”

Lin Yong checked the store. One pouch of purple jade rice seeds was enough for an acre of land, and it only cost 100 points. Then he stared at the woods once more. It was as gorgeous and ferally powerful as he first saw it.

There was barely any difference compared to the first time Lin Yong came, but a year had passed since then. Lin Yong knew exactly how many stones there were beside the river and the number of trees in the woods.

Now he was going to leave, and he was a bit reluctant, but he tossed away those emotions and told the system, “Take me back to Earth.”

A flash of light blinked, and Lin Yong appeared in his bedroom. It was about four or five in the afternoon, and it was still the fall season, just like how it was before Lin Yong left.

He checked the phone and, to his surprise, found that only a day had passed. Then ecstasy filled his heart. One day. It should be fine. Ya shouldn’t be too worried. Nothing bad should’ve happened.

Or so Lin Yong thought. He then heard commotion breaking out downstairs, and then Ya shouted in fury.

Lin Yong quickly came down, but what he saw filled him with rage. A young man with a dozen lackeys were pinning Ya down on the ground, abusing him.

Ya was struggling, trying to break free of their grasp, but it was to no avail. He was vastly outnumbered.

Fury blinded Lin Yong, and he charged into the battlefield despite the overwhleming disadvantage. He grabbed the punk that was kicking Ya and threw him away like trash.

Everyone was in awe. Lin Yong threw the punk ten yards away like he weighed nothing, but Lin Yong didn’t stop there. He grabbed every single thug who abused Ya and threw them across the air like they were trash.

He threw and he threw, until no one but him was left standing around Ya. The thugs were lying on the ground, moaning in pain.

Their leader smirked. “So you’re a muscle man.”

Lin Yong asked, “What did Ya do to you, Ming? Why’d you come all the way to my bar?”

Ming. He was the leader of these thugs and was an infamous figure around this region. He had a few hundred lackeys working for him and numerous business establishments that made him a ton of money.

Everyone, from the cops to the common thug, had to pay him respect.

Ming smiled. “Lin Yong, you’re a college graduate. You’re educated, unlike us. I respect you, just like how I respected your grandfather, but a debt is a debt. Here, see for yourself.” He took out a piece of paper. “Deng Ya wouldn’t tell us where you were, nor would he call you. My men got a little… hotheaded, so they resorted to a little roughing up.”

Lin Yong took the piece of paper, but the content made him freeze. It was an IOU, and the debt totaled to three million yuan. If it wasn’t cleared, the bar would be taken as collateral. The IOU was signed by Lin Yong’s grandfather.

Still in shock, Lin Yong pulled Ya up. “Did Grandpa really borrow that much money?”

Ya nodded. “Yes, he did.”

The shock still didn’t subside. They couldn’t afford three million yuan. And why’d Grandpa made a loan this big? But this isn’t the time to ask.

Lin Yong proposed, “Give me three days. I’ll pay up in three days. Is that alright?”

Ming smiled again. “Of course. But if you still can’t pay up in three days, I’m taking the bar. One more establishment under my control. Since you have muscles, I don’t mind hiring you.” He swung his arm and led his men away.

Lin Yong looked around. All he saw was a banged-up bar and an injured Ya. Resigned, he asked, “Why did Grandpa take that much of a loan, Ya?”

Ya hemmed and hawed, but he couldn’t make a sentence.

Lin Yong asked, “Well? What’s the holdup?”

Ya nodded. “The loan was only 2.3 million. Everything else is interest.”

Lin Yong nodded. “Go on.”

“Grandpa took out that loan to hire some guys. He sent them on an intel mission to Africa to find out where your parents are, but the guy didn’t come back,” said Ya.

Lin Yong was petrified. His parents went missing in an ancient African site fifteen years ago. He didn’t expect them to come home in one piece. Nor did he expect his grandfather to hire someone for an intel mission.

Grandpa held out more than I did. Lin Yong sighed. He thought this was a waste of money, but his grandfather had passed, and it wasn’t wrong for him to miss his son. Lin Yong couldn’t fault him for it. I’ll have to make that money in three days. But how? Lin Yong was bummed out.

Ya looked at him. “Where’d you go for a whole day? You have a whole beard, and your hair’s grown a lot. And what’s with your clothes?”

It was then Lin Yong realized he was still looking feral. “I’ll get showered and shave myself. Yeah, and I have to change into a fresh set of clothes.”

Ya said, “I’ll whip something up for you.”

Lin Yong nodded. He went upstairs and got showered, shaved, and changed. I look cleaner now. And he came back down. He then remembered something. He hadn’t had a taste of the purple jade rice just yet. Maybe I should cook it up and share it with Ya.

Ya was stewing some meat. When Lin Yongcheng was still around, every time Lin Yong came back, Ya would make a whole cauldron of stew packed with pig trotter’s pig’s ear, and pork belly. Ya would whip a few sides up, and they have a little feast sprinkled with alcohol.

Lin Yong produced the purple jade rice. Ya was surprised to see that, but he didn’t ask where Lin Yong got it. Lin Yong carefully washed the rice and filled the rice cooker up, then he splashed some spirit water into it.

It didn’t take long for the rice to fill the air with its aroma. Lin Yong and Ya were sniffing the air greedily.

The meat stew was done, and Ya had whipped up some greens. He laid out the food on the table, while Lin Yong opened up the rice cooker.

Beautiful. They are glimmering. It’s like a mound of purple crystals. Gorgeous. Lin Yong filled a bowl with the rice for himself, and another for Ya.

Ya took in the scent and shoved a big mouthful down his hatch. Lin Yong stared at Ya, agape.
