Multiverse Farming System

Chapter 2 - Power Farming Manual

Chapter 2 Power Farming Manual

When Lin Yong opened his eyes, he was met with a forest. A forest in a mountain. The trees, the shrubs, the plants were all bigger than their Earthen counterparts.

He heard the chirps of birds coming from the woods, but there was no trace of civilization at all. Lin Yong was a little scared, to be honest.

“Ding dong. Please plant the purple jade rice in this acre of land. Harvest it in one year. Half of it will be taken as rent. When you complete your task, you will be rewarded with 30000 points. Note: an acre of land must produce no lower than 880 pounds of rice.”

Lin Yong looked around him. There was weed and shrubs everywhere, but the acre of land before him had no plants growing on it, though it hadn’t been tilled either.

That put Lin Yong in a pickle. He was a city boy. He’d never seen anyone farming before, let alone do it himself.

This must be the primeval world. I wonder if Ya will panic if he finds out I’m missing.

“I need to get back to Earth. I don’t know how to farm.”

“Ding dong. You cannot go back to Earth. Your task is yet incomplete.

“I don’t even have any tools or seeds. How am I supposed to even farm?” Lin Yong was getting frustrated.

“Please open the task package.”

“Open it up,” said Lin Yong, annoyed. And he noticed something getting added to his storage space. He had a hoe, a sickle, and a pouch. Lin Yong took them out and had a good look.

The pouch contained some sort of purple grain. Must be the seeds for the purple jade rice.

The hoe wasn’t light, but it should be handy. Lin Yong plopped down onto the ground and chugged some water down the hatch, and he started tilling the field.

He had to till the lands before he could sow the seeds. That much Lin Yong knew. What he did not know was the sheer strength it took to till the soil. It didn’t take long for Lin Yong to feel sore all over. The ground felt like granite.

“Any ideas to till the soil easier, system?”

“Ding dong. You can purchase Power Farming Manual in the system store. It costs 100 points. Practice the manual, and you’ll gain a lot of strength. Makes tilling, sowing, pest-killing, weed-cropping, and harvesting a lot easier.”

Lin Yong felt like yelling a few choice words into the air. Everyone else got to learn the mystical skills, like 18 Dragon Subduing Palms or the Arctic Ocean Technique.

Why do I get something with a weird name? Power Farming Manual? Sounds lame. Yeah, what do I tell my friends? ‘Hey, I’m a cultivator, but my manual is strictly for farming.’ What an embarrassment.

Still, Lin Yong purchased the manual. He had a task to complete, after all. “Get me the Power Farming Manual.”

“Ding dong. You have purchased Power Farming Manual. Your points are deducted by 100. Your remaining points are 900.”

That would explain why the system generously gave him 1000 points from the get-go. So it wanted me to purchase the manual and make my farming life easier.

A stream of information flooded Lin Yong’s head. He realized Power Faming Manual was a simple thing to learn. There were only five movements overall. Tilling the ground, sowing the seeds, taking out the pests, cropping the weeds, and harvesting the crops.

Spiritual energy would flow through his body as he moved according to the manual’s instructions.

The system told him it’d be easier to farm once he cultivated some spiritual energy and used the Power Farming Manual with it.

Lin Yong wanted to curse again. He went through the first picture in his mind, and he mimicked the movements, going through the flow of the spiritual energy in his head as he tilled the soil.

The first time felt rough, but work felt a lot easier. It didn’t take as much out of Lin Yong anymore.

The second time, he was getting the hang of it.

The third time, he felt a gust of spiritual energy moving through the veins like how the instruction said it would. It was a delight fro Lin Yong. After all, now he had spiritual energy.

Unbeknownst to him, Power Farming Manual might be a primarily farming manual, but anyone who practiced it would see the same effects as anyone taking up regular manuals or physique training.

The system was surprised that Lin Yong cultivated spiritual energy after going through the movements just three times.

Lin Yong went through one-third of the field, and he was getting tired. He chugged more water down his throat and came back to work.

To his surprise, his spiritual energy was moving faster. He knew it was the spirit water working its magic. He kept working, but this time, he tilled the soil easily. A flick of the arm, and he tilled a big chunk of soil.

He could feel power going through his whole body. Spiritual energy coursed through his veins. It was a comfy feeling for him.

The soreness went away, replaced by a sensation of satisfaction. Sweat poured forth. On and on Lin Yong tilled, until he had gone through the field twice.

He took a break and chugged more spirit water only to go back and till the field twice. The soil was half a foot tall now. It can probably house all sorts of plants.

Another water break for Lin Yong. He took a seat and realized his stomach was growling. But around him was a deep forest. He’d rather not take his chances exploring.

Still, if he didn’t eat, he couldn’t survive for a year. He’d die long before that. But if he wanted to eat, he had to hunt. The only hunting spot was, well, the forest.

Catch-22 situation, but Lin Yong picked up his hoe in the end. It wasn’t a weapon per se, but it was better than nothing.

When Lin Yong went into the forest, the sun was already setting. He regretted not tucking any survival items in his storage space. He had a big one too. If he had tents or anything like that, he’d be a damn sight better than whatever he had going on now.

It was too late for regrets, though. He made a mental note to bring camp supplies with him wherever he went in the future.

Into the forest he went. Before he could go deep, he ran into a titanic tree. It was towering. Bigger than the trees around him, and there were crimson fruits hanging on its branches.

They looked like persimmons, lovely to the eyes, but Lin Yong hesitated. He wondered if the fruits were poisonous.

And then a fruit fell from the branch. A hare hopped out of nowhere and grabbed the fruit, ravenously nibbling on it.

Lin Yong smiled. Not poisonous, I see. The hare wouldn’t feast on it otherwise. He climbed onto the tree and grabbed a fruit off the branch. “It’s sweet. I love this.”

The fruit was crunchy, sweet, and had a hint of sourness within. It almost felt like apples back on Earth, but this was a lot better.

“Red lanterns. We have a lot of them here.” Red lanterns. That was what Lin Yong called these fruits. There was a persimmon that went by that name back on Earth.

He harvested all the fruits he could get and tucked them into his storage space. He had no idea if he could find more food. The red lanterns could be his only sustenance for a long time.

Lin Yong got back down after a harvest of a thousand red lanterns. He turned around and was met with a pair of eyes. Eyes glowing eerily green.

It was a wolf. The wolves of this world was slightly bigger than the ones back on Earth. And one of them was staring at Lin Yong.

Lin Yong’s heart was starting to race.
