Chapter 46: MCSDB Chapter 38 Frieza’s Scheme
The spaceship streaked across the vast expanse of the universe, a streak of light against the inky blackness. In less than twenty breaths, it had already escaped Planet Vegeta's orbit. Through the window, Jiang Chen could clearly see the outline of the blue planet gradually emerging, then slowly shrinking as the ship hurtled away.
Staring at the planet he had called home for nearly five years, Jiang Chen couldn't help but feel a complex mix of emotions.
Over the past few years, he'd considered many possibilities. He'd even wondered if he should try to save Planet Vegeta. But in the end, he decided against it.
Whether it was the original timeline or this altered one, saving Planet Vegeta felt like an impossible task.
In the original timeline, Frieza's determination to destroy the Saiyans was clear. Without the strength to defeat Frieza, preventing the planet's destruction was out of the question.
This revised timeline was even more complicated.
Since Beerus, the God of Destruction, had ordered the destruction of Planet Vegeta, there was no scenario where the planet could be spared. Even if Jiang Chen somehow managed to defeat Frieza, it wouldn't change the ultimate outcome – he would still be no match for Beerus.
More importantly, Planet Vegeta held little value to him. The Saiyans weren't exactly noble beings worth risking his life for.
After countless hours of deliberation, Jiang Chen decided to leave. He even temporarily abandoned the idea of saving Gine and Bardock.
Frieza's plan had already been set in motion. The fewer people involved, the greater the chance of survival.
As a low-class warrior, Jiang Chen estimated that no one would pay much attention to him. But if he tried to leave with Bardock and Gine, things would become far more complicated.
Bardock, being the most powerful Saiyan after King Vegeta, had long been on Frieza's radar. Attempting to escape with Bardock would likely lead to a swift and untimely death.
Moreover, with the uncertainty of whether this was the original or revised timeline, interfering with Bardock, who might be a key figure in history, could have unforeseen consequences.
As for Gine, Jiang Chen initially planned to take her with him. However, he ultimately decided against it.
Since Gine was Bardock's wife, it was uncertain whether Frieza or King Vegeta might be watching her. Taking Gine along would significantly increase the risk of being caught, and in the worst-case scenario, none of them would be able to escape.
Rather than taking such a gamble, Jiang Chen chose to leave quietly.
If he could reach Namek or Earth, he could use the power of the Dragon Balls to resurrect or relocate everyone far more easily.
This was also why he didn't even visit Gine's home to say goodbye. He wanted to avoid any unnecessary complications.
"Next stop, Planet Tatar."
"Six months should be enough to reach it."
Jiang Chen muttered softly, shaking off his distracting thoughts. He composed himself and entered the gravity machine to begin his training.
…
Meanwhile, in a distant part of the universe—
On Planet Serka, at one of Frieza's army's branch bases, Frieza himself had arrived without anyone noticing.
Within the massive base, Frieza remained comfortably seated in his small, floating pod.
"Lord Frieza, half of the Saiyan elite squad has returned to Planet Vegeta. The remaining half should be back within six months."
"In addition, all elite squad missions have been suspended, and the low-class warriors' missions have been significantly reduced. At the current pace, all operations will be halted within six months." An alien respectfully reported.
Hearing the report, Frieza's lips curled into a sinister smile, his eyes gleaming with malice.
"Oh ho ho, how very obedient. I almost feel reluctant to get rid of them," Frieza said in a sinister tone, a smile playing on his lips.
"Lord Frieza, another Saiyan low-class warrior has left Planet Vegeta. His destination is Planet Nirma, classified as an intermediate-level planet. The highest battle power on the planet is 5,700, making it very close to a high-level planet," The alien quickly added.
"Oh ho ho, my poor little monkeys. Looks like another one is about to meet his end," Frieza sneered. His gaze shifted to a nearby figure.
"Cui, take care of it. These little monkeys serve me. I can't have them getting themselves killed so easily."
"Yes, Lord Frieza." Cui immediately knelt on one knee, responding with utmost respect before swiftly retreating to carry out the order.
"Zarbon, step forward," Frieza continued after Cui had left.
"Lord Frieza, at your command." Zarbon knelt in deference, his tone equally respectful.
"The Sitar Organization seems to have grown a little unruly lately. I dislike disobedient business partners," Frieza said coldly, his eyes gleaming with malice.
"Yes, Lord Frieza," Zarbon replied without hesitation.
"Oh ho ho, it's been a while since I've seen fireworks," Frieza chuckled softly, his voice echoing through the base. The gathered aliens lowered their heads, none daring to make a sound.
Meanwhile, Jiang Chen was oblivious to all of this. He had no idea that Planet Nirma, supposedly a low-level planet, was actually an intermediate-level planet, almost on par with a high-level one.
Nor did he know that the planet's inhabitants didn't merely possess a battle power of one or two hundred; the strongest on Planet Nirma had a battle power of 5,700.
It wasn't just about Planet Nirma, either.
As the Saiyans' overseer, Frieza's army controlled all intelligence and data regarding their missions. Manipulating those details was a trivial task for Frieza's forces.
Although Frieza hadn't yet initiated a full-scale operation to annihilate the Saiyans, preferring to first gather them back to Planet Vegeta before striking, that didn't mean he wouldn't target Saiyans on individual missions.
By making small adjustments to mission data, turning a low-level planet into an intermediate-level or even high-level one, Frieza ensured that many Saiyan squads would never return.
It was a subtle yet effective method to reduce the number of Saiyans without raising suspicion. After all, Frieza had no intention of sparing the lower-class Saiyans either.
Under the vast expanse of the starry sky, Jiang Chen's spaceship continued its rapid journey towards Planet Nirma.
Inside the gravity machine, Jiang Chen began yet another day of rigorous training, maintaining his relentless pursuit of strength.
…
Time quietly passed under such circumstances.
In the blink of an eye, five months had gone by.
During these five months, Jiang Chen was completely immersed in his training. At this point, his spaceship was less than a month away from reaching the transit station, Planet Tatar.
Meanwhile, the tension on Planet Vegeta was growing more palpable by the day.
The number of elite warriors gathered on Planet Vegeta had reached nearly a hundred. It could be said that most of the elite warriors had already returned. At the current pace, within three months, all elite Saiyans would have made it back to the planet.
Inside the Royal Palace,
"Has Bardock still not returned?"
King Vegeta frowned deeply, his expression grim.
"Your Majesty, we've lost contact with Bardock. We are currently unable to reach him," a Saiyan reported cautiously.
"Useless!" King Vegeta snapped in frustration.
