Chapter 55: Chapter 54: Technology and Daoist Arts
Ren Fa used his ability to control leaves from a distant tree, making them attach to his body and form a set of clothes.
Ren Fa and Uncle Nine returned to the mortuary together.
"Fengjiao, how's your preparation for dealing with the Japanese? In two days, we'll head to Mount Mao to meet up with your master and the others."
Uncle Nine took this matter very seriously, especially since his senior brother had mentioned that some fellow disciples had been injured or even killed by the enemy. "I'm ready. This time, we'll need Old Master Ren to put in extra effort!"
Ren Fa said, "I took their money, so I'll do the job. Don't worry, since I've accepted Mount Mao's benefits, I'll definitely give it my all. Besides, I don't like the Japanese either. You go ahead—I need to adjust my condition first."
Uncle Nine turned and went back to his courtyard.
Meanwhile, Ren Fa spoke in the group chat.
"Tony, you there? How's the Daoist arts research going?"
Tony: "It's only been two days since you uploaded the materials, but I've made some progress. Simple talismans and basic Daoist techniques are usable now. But the summoning technique isn't working—no matter what, I just can't get it to activate!"
Yang Tao: "Of course not. You don't usually pray to gods, so why would any god bless you?"
Tony: "Yeah, I was thinking the same. By the way, Ren Fa, what's up?"
Ren Fa: "I've got an idea. Tell me if it'll work!"
"Make a printer that runs on electricity, uses cinnabar as ink, and then infuse it with spiritual energy. See if that works!"
Tony: "Didn't expect you to think of that. I already tested it. If you grind jade into powder, mix it with cinnabar, and use it as ink, the printer can print talismans."
"The only catch is that the printed ones are only half as strong as hand-drawn ones. To make them stronger, you'd have to infuse more spiritual energy into the jade. So, it's a trade-off."
Ren Fa: "Tony, you're a genius! (voice cracks)"
"I just thought of this, and you've already tested it? Is this what it's like to be a pro? Get me one of those printers!"
Tony: "Sigh… The life of a genius is so lonely."
[Tony sends a special red envelope]
Yang Tao: "Tony, what are you even talking about? I don't get it. Hey, can you help me study these water blocks?"
Tony saw Yang Tao mention water blocks and instantly remembered the nightmare from the last gathering. No matter how much he scanned them, they showed up as plain water—nothing unusual.
But somehow, two water blocks could create an infinite water source and even float in the air.
Tony: "I'll figure it out one day, but I'm kinda busy right now. Gotta go, boss!"
Yang Tao: "Yeah, right. Keep dreaming if you think you can just slack off here!"
Meanwhile, Ren Fa opened the red envelope and found Tony's custom-made printer, along with plenty of materials.
He grabbed some jade powder, infused it with spiritual energy until it couldn't take any more, and mixed it with the other materials before pouring it into the ink cartridge.
The printer hummed to life, and sheet after sheet of talismans rolled out.
"Not bad! Super efficient! But it only works with high-quality jade powder. Cheap stuff won't cut it. Sigh…"
Excited, Ren Fa took the printed talismans to find Uncle Nine.
Before he even saw Uncle Nine, he was already shouting, "Fengjiao! Fengjiao, come check out these talismans!"
Uncle Nine, clearly annoyed, pushed open the door. "Old Master Ren, can you not call me Fengjiao? Just call me Little Nine."
"Alright, fine! Just take a look at these talismans. Try them out!"
