Chapter 121 Complex
Professor Chen, with a tense expression, looked at Shen Jingqi and Li Baiyu.
Li Baiyu took a sip of water and spoke slowly.
"I've discovered that Cong Nanxue... she might not be just a simple illusion."
Li Baiyu took a deep breath and began to narrate, "The last time the illusion appeared, Cong Nanxue's image lingered in my mind. Just when I was about to collapse, I suddenly felt a strange force pulling me into a dark space."
"Dark space?" Shen Jingqi repeated, a chill rising in his heart.
"Yes. In that space, I couldn't see anything or hear any sound. I could only feel my own presence and the mysterious force that pulled me here." Li Baiyu's voice trembled slightly, "Just as I was about to despair, Cong Nanxue's voice suddenly sounded in my ear."
"What did she say?" Shen Jingqi asked nervously.
"She said, 'Li Baiyu, you're finally here.'" Li Baiyu's gaze became hollow and profound, "That voice was cold and eerie, as if it came from another world."
Shen Jingqi couldn't help but shiver, "And then?"
"Then, there was a sudden flash before my eyes, and I saw the figure of Cong Nanxue. She stood on a radiant platform, her gaze full of indifference and mockery." Li Baiyu continued, "She told me she wasn't just a simple illusion, but rather a consciousness trapped deep within my mind."
"A consciousness?" Shen Jingqi's mouth opened wide in surprise.
"Yes. She said she was trapped in my consciousness for some reason, and the illusions before were her attempts to communicate with me." Li Baiyu's eyes filled with confusion and fear, "I don't know if what she said is true, but it felt so real, like I had truly been to that place."
Shen Jingqi was silent for a moment, then slowly spoke, "Do you think what Cong Nanxue said is believable?"
Li Baiyu shook her head, "I don't know. But I have a premonition that the consciousness she spoke of might be related to what we just experienced."
Shen Jingqi nodded and looked at Professor Chen:
"Professor Chen is an expert in psychology, with deep research in consciousness and subconsciousness. He might be able to give us some clues."
Professor Chen's gaze now revealed a serious demeanor.
"Professor Chen, do you think what Cong Nanxue said about the consciousness is real?" Shen Jingqi asked anxiously.
Professor Chen shook his head, "It's hard to say. In psychology, there are indeed concepts of subconsciousness and consciousness. But a consciousness trapped deep within, as Cong Nanxue mentioned, I've never heard of such a thing."
"Then what do you think we should do?" Li Baiyu pursued.
Professor Chen pondered for a moment, then slowly spoke, "I think we need more information to verify Cong Nanxue's claims. Can you tell me about any strange occurrences you've encountered before?"
Sunlight streamed through the window onto Shen Jingqi's face, but he paid no mind to the warm light, his brow furrowed, gaze full of worry.
Shen Jingqi recounted to Professor Chen their experiences in the dreamscape abyss and Cong Nanxue's appearances in Li Baiyu's illusions, as well as the resulting sub-personalities—Lin Xiaocan and Lucky Sister.
"Professor Chen, her situation is really complex. She's not only experiencing illusions but also forming different sub-personalities as a result." Shen Jingqi's voice was low and serious.
Hearing this, Professor Chen adjusted his glasses, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes, "This is indeed very unusual. You mentioned before that Lin Xiaocan is a singer, whereas Lucky Sister is a rebellious girl who enjoys drinking, right?"
Shen Jingqi nodded, "Yes, Professor Chen. I've interacted with both sub-personalities. Lin Xiaocan is very passionate about music, while Lucky Sister always gives off a rebellious vibe."
Professor Chen fell into thought, and after a moment, he looked up at Shen Jingqi, "This situation likely relates to Li Baiyu's deep-seated emotions and experiences. She may have strong desires or fears, which have formed different sub-personalities within her consciousness."
Hearing this, Shen Jingqi felt another wave of concern, "Is Li Baiyu's current situation dangerous? Will more sub-personalities appear?"
Professor Chen sighed, "For now, her situation is relatively stable. However, we can't rule out the possibility of other sub-personalities emerging. After all, the inner world of a person is incredibly complex and mysterious."
Upon hearing this, Shen Jingqi's worry intensified. He recalled Li Baiyu's fear and despair in the dreamscape abyss, as well as her very different sub-personalities, feeling an overwhelming sense of helplessness.
"Professor Chen, what should we do now?" Shen Jingqi's voice carried a hint of helplessness.
Professor Chen looked at Shen Jingqi, a glint of determination in his eyes, "We need to delve deeper into Li Baiyu's inner world. Only then can we find a way to help her."
Shen Jingqi nodded, silently resolving to help Li Baiyu out of this predicament.
Meanwhile, in Li Baiyu's mind, Cong Nanxue's image constantly floated, her consciousness continuously splitting, as if countless voices echoed in her head.
"Lin Xiaocan... Lucky Sister... who am I? Who am I really?" Li Baiyu murmured softly to herself, a trace of confusion and fear in her voice.
Suddenly, her gaze became firm, as if she had made some kind of resolution. She stood up, walked to the mirror by the bed, and looked at her reflection, "I want to find back my true self!"
However, as she gazed into the mirror, she found her reflection suddenly blurring, a strong unease rising within her, as if something was stirring in her consciousness.
"No! I can't let this continue!" Li Baiyu shouted loudly, trying to grasp the image in the mirror, but her hand only passed through the mirage.
Just then, a voice suddenly came from behind her, "Li Baiyu, what are you doing?"
Li Baiyu turned around abruptly, finding Shen Jingqi standing behind her, looking at her with concern.
"Jingqi... I..." Li Baiyu's voice quivered slightly, unsure how to explain her situation to Shen Jingqi.
Shen Jingqi walked up to her, gently patting her shoulder, "Don't be afraid, I'll always be by your side, helping you out of this predicament."
Li Baiyu looked at Jingqi's determined eyes, a warm flow rising in her heart. She knew she wasn't alone; someone cared and supported her.
"Thank you, Jingqi." Li Baiyu said softly, her voice carrying a hint of gratitude and determination.
