Chapter 6: Chapter 6 Cancel other surgeries to free up time
The director's face was covered with a smile as he led Yan Xi before Yu Siting, just about to introduce her when the always gentle and kind Yan Xi spoke first.
"I refuse to perform surgery on her."
As her words fell, both the director's and Zhao Xue'er's expressions were one of shock.
Zhao Xue'er even spoke before the director could, "Why?"
The director also looked at Yan Xi eagerly, his face full of "why" as well.
Yan Xi curled her slightly pale red lips, her gaze settling on Yu Siting, offering a faint smile.
"I've been fully booked with surgeries recently, and I really have no time."
"There are many more excellent doctors in our department, and our director is also an outstanding talent in this field. Him performing surgery on Miss Zhao will surely be more reliable than me."
Hearing this, the director's face beamed with delight at being praised by Yan Xi, about to volunteer himself when the man's clear voice rose.
"Cancel the other surgeries and clear the schedule."
Yu Siting stood resolutely across from Yan Xi, his face showing little emotion, yet he emanated an undeniable oppressive force.
His gaze swept past Yan Xi, landing on the director beside her, inquiring,
"Can this be arranged?"
The director glanced from Yan Xi to Yu Siting, sensing the tension between the two.
But for the greater good, he readily agreed, "Of course it can."
After speaking, he tugged on Yan Xi's sleeve and muttered under his breath,
"I'll take care of your minor surgery tomorrow, so you just focus on performing surgery on Miss Zhao. The hospital's investment is counting on you."
Yan Xi frowned, her expression full of resistance as she looked at Yu Siting.
"With my recent state of mind being so poor, is President Yu really willing to entrust his girlfriend to me?"
"After all, medical accidents do happen often in the operating room. You'd better be careful."
The director's face froze, followed by an awkward smile as he hastily made excuses to Yu Siting.
"Dr. Yan might be too tired, hence her rash words. President Yu, please don't take offense."
Yan Xi turned and left with a serious face, looking up to see Qin Xicheng waiting for her not far away.
Qin Xicheng waved at her with a smile, and noticing the weariness around her eyes and eyebrows, he strode over, gently ruffling Yan Xi's hair with a look full of tenderness.
"Why do you look like you're about to fall apart?"
"Seeing you so tired, let's cancel our date tonight."
Yan Xi suddenly remembered Qin Xicheng mentioning introducing her to a few real estate tycoons. If the Yan Family's stalled property could be bought, it could give the Yan Family some relief.
"No, tonight's meeting must go on."
"I'm not tired at all."
She immediately perked up, striding to her office to take off her white coat and then leaving with Qin Xicheng.
Zhao Xue'er watched Yan Xi's departing figure, her tone slightly envious as she said,
"Dr. Yan's boyfriend really loves her, sending her to work in the morning and picking her up in the evening."
As she spoke, she slowly looked up at Yu Siting standing beside her, only to see his face dark and stormy, his deep eyes tinged with an indeterminate anger, a coldness lying beneath.
"I'll have Assistant Chen help you with the admission process."
"I have other matters to attend to, so I'll leave first."
Yu Siting left with a cold face, stepping into the elevator without a moment's pause.
Zhao Xue'er stood still, watching the elevator doors close, her hand hanging by her side suddenly clenched tightly.
Qin Xicheng led Yan Xi straight to the restaurant.
Inside the private room.
Only three seats were vacant; the other spots were already filled.
Qin Xicheng entered the room, pulled out a chair for Yan Xi first, then apologized to everyone with a smile.
"Sorry for being late, there was a bit of traffic on the way, thank you all for waiting."
All present were notable figures in the business circles of Yun City.
As an old, esteemed family in Yun City, the Qin Family had maintained their connections there over the years, despite not focusing on domestic development.
Qin Xicheng was now the person in charge of the Qin Family, so naturally, everyone was willing to give him some face.
"It's okay, we've only just arrived as well."
"However, since you've arrived late, you'll have to punish yourself with three drinks."
Qin Xicheng responded with a smile.
As the banquet began, Qin Xicheng's attentiveness toward Yan Xi was evident, their unusual relationship causing people to regard Yan Group with greater favor.
When discussing Yan Group's projects, Yan Xi could speak intelligently on the subject, and with Qin Xicheng's support, some began considering the purchase of land.
"Currently, the city's focus is shifting towards the Western Suburb and North City, but the land held by Yan Group in the Southern Suburb does not show promise for the next ten years—it seems of little investment significance."
"Mr. Qin has just returned from abroad, and it seems he needs to familiarize himself more with Yun City's market and development."
Yu Siting's voice emanated from the doorway, his tone light but imbued with a hint of sarcasm that Yan Xi detected.
Upon his arrival, everyone rose from their seats.
"President Yu, didn't you say some urgent matters prevented you from coming?"
"We've already started without waiting for you, which was indeed an oversight."
The organizer of the dinner hurriedly got up to greet Yu Siting, intending to offer him his own seat.
"President Yu, please take this seat..."
Yu Siting did not glance at the host but instead casually pulled out the chair beside Yan Xi and sat down smoothly.
Yan Xi felt as though the atmospheric pressure around her had suddenly dropped, prompting her to sit up straight.
She knew Yu Siting wouldn't make things easy for her!
Not only had he refrained from assisting Yan Family, but he was also sabotaging their dealings.
The atmosphere grew somewhat tense as Yan Xi bit her lip and glanced sideways at Yu Siting.
Yu Siting looked back at her calmly, his composed demeanor as if he wasn't the one who had just disrupted her business.
Seeing the situation, everyone took their seats again, trying to ease the tension.
Yan Xi sipped her lips, steadied her emotions, and was just about to speak when Qin Xicheng, sitting beside her, began first.
"That might not be the case."
"President Yu might have forgotten the ancient temple in the Southern Suburb which has been there for a thousand years."
Yu Siting's gaze lingered on Yan Xi and Qin Xicheng for a few seconds.
Yan Xi clearly saw a trace of mockery in his deep, dark eyes. As Yu Siting was about to counter Qin Xicheng's words, her hand quickly reached out from under the table and pressed against his leg.
If he continued to talk nonsense, then this piece of land was likely to attract no buyers!
The sudden touch of her soft, powerless hand on his leg made the corner of Yu Siting's eyes twitch slightly, his inscrutable gaze briefly sweeping over her delicate and fair hand.
The patch of skin she had touched seemed to ignite a small flame.
Yet, the woman before him remained cool and indifferent, looking his way with a forced smile that couldn't be more fake.
"President Yu, while the Southern Suburb is indeed not within the city center's planning scope, wouldn't transforming the millennium-old temple into a commercial district and establishing attractions also hold commercial value, drawing in visitors from outside?"
Yu Siting watched her, his eyes narrowing slightly as if weighing his options.
Anxiety instantly grew in Yan Xi.
She was acutely aware that whether the Yan Family could sell off the land in the Southern Suburb hinged on Yu Siting's attitude in that very moment.
Her pretty almond-shaped eyes fluttered, her gaze fixed on the man before her, fearful that he would utter a word that could collapse her previous arguments.
"Hmm."
Yu Siting responded faintly, his usually indifferent tone carrying a hint of huskiness.
"Such a plan does indeed have its value."
Having received Yu Siting's acknowledgment, Yan Xi let out a sigh of relief and slowly withdrew her hand.
However, in the next second, the man grabbed her hand directly.
