Mr. President Begs for Remarriage After Seeing Our Kids

Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Misunderstanding Her for So Many Years

Mrs. Lin was a maid specifically arranged by Mrs. Yu to take care of Xiao Xi and Yu Siting's daily life.

She would also report their living conditions to Mrs. Yu on a regular basis.

Xiao Xi had not expected that Mrs. Lin would even remember her menstrual cycle dates so clearly, which showed she had reported quite a bit to Mrs. Yu during this time.

Fortunately, the day she had Yu Siting come back to sign the divorce agreement, she had deliberately sent Mrs. Lin away, otherwise, she might not have been able to keep it a secret now.

"Xiao Xi, you've been very busy with work lately, could it be that you're pregnant and haven't noticed yet?"

"Shall I accompany you for a check-up one of these days?"

As soon as Mrs. Yu's voice trailed off, the maid saw Yu Siting standing at the dining room doorway.

"Young Master is back."

While speaking, the maid immediately set an extra place at the table and pulled out a chair.

Yu Siting walked over and sat down in the chair, his deep and cold eyes landing on Xiao Xi with a hint of inquiry.

Pregnant?

His thoughts were immediately pulled back to that night from last month, his eyes gradually growing solemn.

It wasn't impossible.

Xiao Xi pursed her lips, feeling the intense pressure coming from across the table. She took a deep breath in secret, restraining her emotions and feeling a guilty conscience about meeting Yu Siting's gaze.

"I've had an increase of patients in my department recently, which has caused a lot of stress and disrupted my menstrual cycle, resulting in a delay."

"I had a colleague help me with a check-up yesterday, and I'm not pregnant. I'm currently taking medication to regulate it."

Her voice was soft, keeping her tone as calm as usual.

After finishing, she lowered her head to sip her soup, masking her nervousness, pretending as if all was normal.

Yu Siting, hearing her denial, felt a strange, unfamiliar emotion stir within him.

But he quickly suppressed it.

He coldly withdrew his gaze, ignoring that unusual emotion, and looked towards Mrs. Yu and spoke in a low voice.

"Grandmother, did you ask me to come back for a reason?"

Mrs. Yu, hearing that Xiao Xi was not pregnant, felt quite upset.

She glared at Yu Siting disapprovingly and scolded him without regard for his dignity.

"If I don't call you back, would you ever come to see this old bag of bones?"

Yu Siting's brows slightly rose as he indifferently replied, "No."

Mrs. Yu huffed and grabbed her walking stick from the side, glancing at Yu Siting and said in a heavy tone.

"Come with me to the study."

Seeing this, Xiao Xi paused for a moment, then quickly spoke up.

"Grandmother, you haven't eaten anything yet."

When Mrs. Yu addressed Xiao Xi, she tempered her anger.

"The doctor advised that I should eat less at night. You eat more. Siting and I will just have a casual chat in the study."

The old lady patted Xiao Xi's shoulder as she said this and left the dining room, leaning on her walking stick.

Yu Siting, with a cold expression, rose from his chair, giving her a chilly glance before walking away.

Xiao Xi bit her lip and put down her spoon, a flicker of worry passing through her eyes.

The study door was tightly shut.

Standing at the door, Xiao Xi could still hear Mrs. Yu's robust scolding.

"As long as I'm alive, you won't let that woman step through the doors of our Yu Family!"

Xiao Xi bit the corner of her lip, realizing that their conversation was about Zhao Xue'er. She took a deep breath, ready to open the study door and enter to persuade Mrs. Yu, but just as her hand touched the doorknob, the door was opened from the inside.

A strong chill emanated from Yu Siting.

Xiao Xi hesitated for a moment, then looked up at the man towering above her.

He looked down at her from his height, his deep, icy eyes seemingly laced with broken ice.

"You do nothing but curry favor and put on an act in front of the elderly, what other tactics have you prepared?"

Yan Xi froze, her attractive almond eyes registering surprise and distress.

"I haven't done anything."

Yu Siting saw the change in her expression and inexplicably felt a wave of irritation rising within him.

Mrs. Yu's voice, filled with fury, resonated in the study.

"You messed up yourself, where do you get the gall to blame Xiao Xi?"

He furrowed his brows, his icy gaze sweeping over her coolly before he turned to leave.

Seeing this, the servant hurried into the study to check on Mrs. Yu.

Yan Xi's hand, hanging by her side, tightened ever so slightly, her eyes exceptionally dim.

Despite her efforts to hide it, she had forgotten that someone would naturally help collect the information Mrs. Yu wanted to know.

Yu Siting and Zhao Xue'er had appeared openly at the hospital, probably someone had already sent the news to the old lady by then.

Yet Yu Siting somehow thought it was her who had complained to Mrs. Yu.

Should the unloved one bear all the blame and grievances?

"Something's wrong, the old lady has fainted!"

Suddenly, a servant's cry of alarm pierced the study.

Yan Xi rushed into the study immediately.

In the hospital.

After Mrs. Yu's condition stabilized, she was moved to a general ward.

Yan Xi sat quietly outside the ward, her heart still smarting at the memory of Yu Siting's icy eyes.

Out of nowhere, a shadow loomed over her.

Looking up, Yan Xi saw Yu Siting stepping out of Mrs. Yu's ward.

His face stern, he looked down at her, expression impassive.

"Grandmother wants to see you."

Upon hearing this, Yan Xi immediately rose from her chair and walked towards Mrs. Yu's ward.

As she brushed past the man, Yu Siting grabbed her arm, his voice devoid of warmth.

"Yan Xi, you've achieved your goal."

"For the sake of grandmother's health, I will not divorce you for the time being, but don't delude yourself into thinking that I will help the Yan Family."

Yan Xi's almond eyes flickered, and she looked up at Yu Siting, silent.

Yu Siting, observing the faint teary sheen in her beautiful eyes, felt his deep black pupils grow colder and her arm suddenly felt scorching in his grip.

He released Yan Xi's arm with a stern face, not sparing her another glance.

Yan Xi composed herself, knowing that Yu Siting had made up his mind about her tactics, and she no longer attempted to explain, stepping into Mrs. Yu's ward.

The divorce was still on the horizon, just not now.

She stepped into Mrs. Yu's ward with a smile restored on her face.

"Grandmother, do you feel better now?"

Mrs. Yu weakly lifted her hand, and upon hearing this, Yan Xi quickly walked over, took Mrs. Yu's hand, and sat down on the chair beside her.

"Xiao Xi, I know you've been wronged over these years, you are a good child; it's all because Grandmother was too selfish, delaying you."

"When the Yu Family was in trouble, only the Yan Family was willing to lend a hand, I knew of your feelings for Siting, and I took the opportunity to arrange your marriage to him."

Mrs. Yu's voice carried a touch of time-worn weariness, her wrinkled eyes slightly reddened.

Hearing Mrs. Yu's words, Yan Xi's emotions were incredibly complex.

Mrs. Yu wiped the corner of her eyes, her words filled with helplessness.

"That woman, Zhao Xue'er, is not as gentle and generous as she portrays herself. When the Yu Family had their misfortunes, she fled the country. To this day, Siting is still deceived by her false front and has misunderstood you for so many years."
