Moon Valley's Legendary Farmer

MVLF 148~Trouble On The Train

Aya pulled her headgear off and shook her head to regain her bearings in the real world. She blinked, causing her vision to focus on the dark room, which was her train cabin.

She listened to the silence of the night and soon heard soft snores across from her. Mars had already transformed her seat into the convertible bed and pulled out her pillow and blanket. As Aya moved to put her headset away, her hand brushed against soft fabric.

"Huh?" She looked down at the pillow and blanket lying beside her, then looked up at Mars, who had turned in her sleep.

"She must have brought this out for me." Aya whispered, a small smile grew on her face as she tucked the Revista Mark-ii away.

After changing into her pajamas from the overnight bag she had brought onto the train, the brunette looked out the window into the night as the train sped down the tracks. In the distance, she could make out the approaching city. Even from so far away, the light shone enough that Aya could see the silhouette of tall buildings.

Axen had frequent power outages, there were times where Aya would sit in her room in sweltering heat due to the bad weather and lack of electricity to power the apartment's shitty AC. She wondered if Mericross ever had problems like that?

"On to new things." Aya said as she slid under the covers of her convertible seat-bed. They would be in Mericross first thing tomorrow, it was likely their belongings would have been sorted already.

'What will the new apartment be like?' Aya thought with heavy eyes, it might have been the chores in the game, but she found herself more tired than she usually would be. Hopefully, Soren would be done with her sickle by the time she woke up and moved in.

----------

Aya shot up at the sound of the train's tires screeching to a halt, signaling the end of her journey from Axen to Mericross.

Beside her, Mars was already up and freshly changed into a new set of clothes, ready to begin her day.

"I need a shower." Aya grumbled as she scratched her curls, Mars snorted.

"You and everyone on this damn train, but I'm not ready to fight anyone for the communal showers even though I would win." Mars smirked.

"Thank you for taking pity on those peasants." Aya said with a laugh, she believed Mars was ready to kick ass at any time but reasoned she was probably too tired.

"I can't wait to get to the apartment, I need a proper bed." Mars said, pinching the bridge of her nose. It was the most stressed Aya had seen her since their friend, well asides form her meeting with Atlas.

It wasn't long after Aya changed that a voice came over the speakers to let them know it was time to disembark.

This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it.

"Thank you for riding with us, we do hope you've enjoyed our wonderful service." The voice said. Aya nodded, she had indeed enjoyed their wonderful service!

----------

The two girl stepped out with their bags into a throng of people also disembarking with them. It was a bit of a tight squeeze as people from other train cars began joining the line making it even harder for them to move.

"I hate this shit." Mars muttered under her breath. " Aya, keep your eyes peeled, there are a lot of pickpockets that use this opportunity."

"You don't have to tell me twice, I'm from Axen." Aya said. She had already wrapped all her items securely, every zipper was intact and clung to her arm like a vice. If someone wanted to snatch the bag out of her arms, they would have to be strong enough to carry her with them.

Mars smirked.

"You know, with how cute you are, I forget you're quite scrappy yourself." The dark haired girl said. Aya flashed her a big, heart melting smile.

"You're not so bad yourself." She replied.

As the slow moving line persisted, Mars's prediction came true. A commotion swept through the crowd, and a scream of frustration resounded from the front of the line closest to the entrance.

"My purse! My purse is gone!" A woman shouted.

Whispers broke out causing Mars and Aya to share glances as they waited anxiously to hear more.

"So soon? These guys are bold." Aya said.

"My Watch, someone nicked my watch!" A man shouted. The crowd started pushing back, disrupting the stability of the line Aya and Mars stood in.

"If someone falls, it's going to be a disaster. Don't stewardesses usually deal with things like this?" Mars asked, she felt people shuffling against her and had enough sense to hold her bag against the wall, the man who had yelled for his watch was no too far away.

If her predictions were correct, the pickpocket would try to attack their row next.

"Keep your eyes peeled." Aya said, surprising Mars with how fast she had caught on to the situation. Both of them regretted leaving their cabin, but it would be difficult to turn back now that they were this close to the entrance.

As more people made their way out, the tight squeeze became more bearable, but it also meant that whoever was stealing would have more leg room.

'So Mericross isn't that different for Axen, huh?' Aya thought with a light laugh. Oh well, she would survive it.

Someone bumped into her, trying to knock her bag off her shoulder. Aya narrowed her eyes and slammed her shoulder into the stranger she could not see. Her plan worked.

The unsuspecting individual tumbled forward, landing on the ground and dropping the contents of his grip.

"Aya, what the hell was that?" Mars asked, but before she could explain herself ,someone had already started talking.

"T-The pickpocket, he just tried to rob that girl, but she caught him!" A man yelled, jabbing at the young man trying to stand.

"Huh?" He said, looking back at Ay,a who had caused him to fall. He tried to lunge at her, but was caught before he could even make a move.

Aya observed the two men in dark blue police uniforms grab the thief's arm tightly to prevent him from running.

The man sweated nervously, a stream of babbles escaped his mouth as he tried to explain what he was doing with two items that just happened to be stolen.

"Officers, you've got the wrong idea." he tried to plead.

Even though it was a tight squeeze, one of the people who left the train must have called the authorities, and as the two burly men pushed through the crowd, Aya's actions were able to stall the thief before he could cause further harm.

"Oh my purse, thank the stars." A woman said, lovingly rubbing the expensive leather purse against her face. "All my cards and IDs were in here. I don't know what I would have done if I'd lost them" She said to Aya.

"Don't mention it, I've had a lot of run ins with these kinds of people." Aya said.

"Wow, wow, my best friend's a hero." Mars said with a smirk. She bumped Aya's shoulder and slung an arm around her in pride.

"Damn right she is." The woman said before turning around to give her statement to the police.

"Ready to leave this station?"

"Yes, please, I'm getting super hungry!"
