Monster Gacha System: Becoming The Final Boss

Chapter 116 | Judgment, Imprisonment, and Freedom

As Hecate lounged in the middle of the office, messing around with the executive swivel chair belonging to her master, Damien leaned against the wall and observed his status display.

The bluish hue of his status reflected from his face, though in the eyes of outside observers. There were no changes at all.

From the evolution of his three Terrestrial Monsters: Hellhound, Direwolf, and Anaconda. Damien acquired six new personal skills, three of which were augmented versions of the old ones.

These personal skills were Chains of Infernal Judgment, Sinful Gaze, Extreme Constriction, Petrification, Bond Breaker, and Tempest Destroyer.

Utilizing the technique or knowledge he had received from Proton, Damien unravelled the six skills and analyzed their structures. It was interesting, to say the least.

Chains of Infernal Judgment and Sinful Gaze belonged to the evolved version of the Hellhound, Garmr. The two-star Terrestrial Monster was much stronger than its former form.

Whether it'd be size, strength, endurance, or capabilities.

It wasn't to be underestimated.

In any case, the Chains of Infernal Judgment were the augmented form of the former Chains of Judgment. Unlike the normal yet strengthened chains from before, these were proactive.

The Chains of Infernal Judgment increase their durability and strength by absorbing the force exerted by their prisoner. Not only that, these chains were also capable of burning those shackled by them.

Their flames were far from normal, capable of unleashing temperatures up to hundreds of thousands of degrees.

On the other hand, Sinful Gaze wasn't as visually remarkable as the Chains of Infernal Judgment. But its practicality gave it more worth than the upgraded personal skill.

The capabilities of Sinful Gaze were as follows. Those before Damien's perception would have their sins unveiled for him to see.

The things they had done throughout their lives that would warrant them an Inferno. Not only that, he could also feel their hostilities.

With the ongoing operation regarding the infiltrators of the Federation, Sinful Gaze might be the one who would decide how the mission ends.

After all, it would be easy to find the culprits belonging to the Shadow Division with his eyes. Sadly, Sinful Gaze doesn't work on pictures and videos. It needed to be personal.

"Useful ability..." It wasn't complete mind-reading, but it was good enough for the black-suited young man. He turned his attention towards the following personal skills.

These were Extreme Constriction and Petrification, both of which belonged to the two-star Terrestrial Monster, Great Serpent.

It was over a hundred meters long, a diameter capable of swallowing a car whole. The Great Serpent could probably swallow a bus if it had to. The thought alone was terrifying.

Regardless, however... Extreme Constriction was the augmented version of Constriction. Its old form was already adequate in apprehending enemies.

Its new and current form multiplies its capabilities, capable of crushing a vampire noble to death, unlike before. Besides the advancement in power, Extreme Constriction wasn't that different.

The personal skill wasn't a complete overhaul, which made sense. After all, there wasn't much to add to the already functional ability.

Petrification was the newest personal skill granted by the Great Serpent. Its capabilities were as straightforward as its name. The power grants the ability to petrify those in his line of sight into stone.

Fortunately, it didn't need the targets looking at his eyes to activate the petrifying ability. Otherwise, it would be troublesome and easy to counter.

Alongside the Chains of Infernal Judgment and Extreme Constriction, Petrification could further ensure the complete restraint of his adversary. Another personal skill that could be stacked with another.

However, he would have to be careful and not accidentally petrify an ally.

It would be a bother to handle.

The last of his newly acquired personal skills belonged to the three-star version of Direwolf, the Fenrir. These were Bond Breaker and Tempest Destroyer.

Amongst the group of recently granted personal skills, these two were probably the strongest, which made sense. After all, Fenrir was a three-star Terrestrial Monster.

It was much larger than the Direwolf, half the size of Behemoth and Orochi, standing over 50 meters in height. If it stood up on its two legs, it would have been far larger.

Across its slender body were broken chains strapped through its fur, a symbol of destiny breaking apart amidst its presence.

Damien was interested in what would happen if he summoned the Fenrir before the Lycanthropes of the Howling Village. After all, Fenrir was much larger than any of them combined.

It was also much stronger, capable of evoking storms that would cover the land and blot out the sun from the heavens.

At any rate, Bond Breaker was a powerful conceptual skill. It was capable of breaking any bonds, whether it'd be physical or metaphysical.

No matter what chains the Brands or Blood Techniques could conjure, they would never be able to shackle Damien since he would shatter them into pieces upon contact.

Not only that, it was also capable of breaking ties and relationships, making it extremely dangerous. Love, hatred, pride, and fear.

He could easily sever their connections, rendering them nonexistent.

"A bit too dangerous like the Void Maw," Damien muttered under his breath, placing a finger beneath his chin. "But much more useful since I could use it to break out of any imprisonment."

The final personal skill was Tempest Destroyer. A powerful ability capable of summoning a superstorm that was capable of flooding anything.

Its thunderbolts could shatter mountains and scorch the land. Each droplet that descends from its embrace rivalled the size of houses.

An apocalyptic power that could call forth a revelation-level storm.

If he wanted to destroy an army without opting to summon a monster, Tempest Destroyer was the perfect personal skill to utilize.

Damien closed his eyelids, his thoughts pondering these personal skills. All of them were a great addition to the Skill Index; each could be used without much of a problem.

Except for some skills that punished his opponents too much, there wasn't anything he could complain about.

He was satisfied with the abilities he had been granted, though it resulted in him being in debt. "The next monsters in line for evolution should be the Paranormal Monsters."

Even when in debt, he wouldn't hesitate to evolve his monsters since the stronger they were, the safer and more powerful he became.

"You sure do love staring at nothing, Damien. Have a lot in mind?" Hecate glanced at her partner while lounging in the executive swivel chair.

Hearing her soft voice, Damien's lips curved into a subtle smile. "I have quite a lot in mind, Hecate."

"Is it about that debt you were talking about? If it really is a problem, I can help you handle it." Hecate thought that debt was what bothered him.

And she wasn't wrong about that prospect. But... It was a different kind of debt than the usual ones she had in mind.

"Thanks for the offer, but I can handle it myself. After all, opportunities seem to run towards us now." Damien gazed upon his status display.

The Spectre was doing a good job of protecting the city of New Janus. It hasn't been long since he became indebted to the system, and 25 Terror Points have already been paid.

Even if he did nothing about the debt, it would inevitably solve itself. After all, he had monsters working for him. Most importantly, these were Paranormal Monsters.

They rarely leave anything behind when doing their jobs, making them perfect when he didn't need to attract attention but had to make his move.

Before he could continue to ponder about these monsters of his, the room shattered into pieces as a gorgeous white-haired lady stood before him. Her pearl-like gaze landed on him alongside that arrogant smirk.

She was their boss, the Seventh Paragon, Alastair Glass.
