Monster Gacha System: Becoming The Final Boss

Chapter 056 | The Aftereffects of the Purge

As the rays of the morning sun gleamed through the blurred lines of the horizon, New Janus was ensnared in a boiling state of upheaval. Two of the pillars that governed the cardinal blocks were annihilated in a single night. None of their estate was left behind, as rubble permeated the area.

Walking through the marble hall of the luxurious manor was Lady Dobermann, also known as Echidna. Her expression was calm and solemn as their family prioritized following the commands of their new and first rulers. It was a day of turmoil, yet life continued amidst the disruption.

Entering the court of their manor, the emotionless lady saw the officers already waiting for her, while the Godfather reflected a somber manner. The heir also sat amongst the loyalist officers, anxious about the changing tide.

"Father, I have already heeded the commands of the White Devil. We and the Rottweiler Family will handle the power vacuum left behind by the annihilation of our adversarial criminal syndicates." Echidna aloofly bowed and reported to the Godfather of Dobermann.

"Good work, Echidna. Ensure that our relationship with Block 7 remains amiable." The Godfather nodded in satisfaction while Troy gritted his teeth in vexation. The loyalist faction was also displeased.

However, none of them dared to question the words of their Godfather.

Regardless of their standing within the family, all of them were loyal to the one who had built the Dobermann from the ground up since Heaven's Fall. Turning his attention towards the court, the Godfather continued.

"We will begin our meeting regarding the purge last night. I would like to hear your reports and opinions concerning the tragedy." His words echoed through the marble walls of the court, bringing about a tense atmosphere.

An officer from the radical faction stood up and reported detailed information about the situation. "The Winston Family and the Rotte Family were annihilated by two young members of Block 7 under the tutelage of the seventh Paragon, Alastair Glass."

"The White Devil and the Betrayer of Espada had not made their moves. It appears that Block 7 intended to take over integral businesses while also ensuring to block the future influence of outside corporations." He ended his report and returned to his seat.

"CORE? Should we ally with them against the White Devil?" A loyalist inquired, earning the gaze of everyone within the court of Dobermann. It was oppressive, forcing him to inwardly shudder in dread.

"Movements against the interests of the White Devil will be forbidden. Any actions against Block 7 will result in denouncing your stature as a member of the Dobermann." Echidna stated in an indifferent tone, provoking the court with an indignant effort.

"What? How could this be? Have you forgotten your pride as a Dobermann?" Troy roared at his aunt, who didn't bother responding to him. Being ignored felt humiliating, but before he could escalate the argument, he felt the suppressing gaze of the Godfather.

"This is not about pride or honor. What we have done is for our survival and the continuation of Dobermann's name. Did you not see how purge annihilated two cardinal families, Troy?" After the heir was silenced, Echidna stated with detachment.

The loyalist officers wanted to confront the adopted daughter of the Godfather, but couldn't utter a single word. None of their voices could conquer the oppressing dread that pervaded through each and every one of them.

"Instead of resistance, cooperation gives us more room and could ensure our growth to become an even stronger pillar within New Janus. As long as we know of our master and do not become their obstacles, survival is inevitable." Echidna proposed, earning the calm nod of the Godfather.

"The White Devil has already commanded us and the Rottweiler Family to administer the power vacuum left behind by the fallen cardinal families. This is an opportunity to further our friendly terms with Block 7, so we must not fail." She continued as she took a step forward.

"Our area of operations has extended from the eastern district to the south of New Janus. Criminal organizations and gangs must not fill the vacuum. Regardless of where our loyalties lie within the family, we must not lose this opportunity."

Echidna ended her speech and returned to her seat. She crossed her legs as silence pervaded every corner of the court. The officers glanced at one another while the heir continued clenching his teeth.

"This is a precarious time for our Dobermann Family. Each step must be taken with caution and consideration. Keep yourselves in check." The Godfather glanced at his heir for one last time before leaving the court with a disappointed gaze.

After the Godfather left, Echidna didn't hesitate and stepped out of the court. After the lady of Dobermann vacated the premises, the radical and loyalist officers glared at one another, their gazes sharp and calculating.

Stepping out of the court of Dobermann, the indifferent lady met her personal guards waiting outside with straightened backs. Their faces covered in animal masks, as they attired themselves in dark cloaks.

"I want you to hound the officers and report to me their movements," Echidna commanded her guards, glancing at the little masked girl standing with them. "And Hawk, follow me to the central district."

The personal guards lightly bowed their heads, disappearing from the hallway until only a single small masked girl was left behind. She followed behind the beautiful and indifferent lady of the Dobermann Family.

"Are you planning to visit the Jaegers, Mistress Echidna?" A soft voice escaped the unmoving mask of the little girl. For a moment, Echidna halted and replied. "Yes, I will be visiting our new masters."

She wasn't an arrogant woman, but she did have her pride. If it were another Block that dared to subdue them, she would have mounted a quiet resistance. However, their current conqueror was the supposed strongest of humanity.

Even if it were possible to defeat the White Devil, she wouldn't attempt to vanquish the seventh Paragon. After all, the price was too high to pay for the Dobermann Family.

It didn't take long for the two of them to reach the morning streets of the eastern district. The air felt different, somewhat liberating. The atmosphere of New Janus was tense yet releasing. It seems that the citizens of the city have considered Block 7 as their saviors.

'Hope in the future...' Echidna thought while observing the fearful and hopeful crowd. She entered her luxurious car as Hawk sat in the front seat beside her. The engines rumbled in a muted roar, and the two of them headed towards the central district.

The local authorities had taken control of the streets as law enforcement filled every intersection. It seems that even the government of New Janus was becoming a subordinate of Block 7, an understandable path.

After all, even the Dobermann Family had become subordinates themselves. It wasn't humiliating when every organization capable of launching a siege was bowing to the new rulers of the city.

The route to the central district was straightforward. As she drove through car-filled streets and passed through every checkpoint, they soon arrived in the central district where the tower of Block 7 resided.

It loomed over New Janus, a watch tower of authority and power. The golden ray of the morning sun reflected from its surface, bathing it with the warmth of dawn. A foreboding sense of the future seemed to touch those who stood before the soaring building.

Parking her luxurious car, Echidna and Hawk stepped out of their vehicle, walking towards the entrance of the SIGIL Seventh Division. Even though the outside of the tower was devoid of anything, no one dared to approach its entrance.

Except for two, which were the indifferent Lady of Dobermann and her little personal guard. They headed towards the entrance without halting a single strand of their muscles, promptly reaching the newly-placed automatic glass doors of the building.

The glass doors slid open, and beyond them was an empty reception hall of the tower. Echidna raised her eyebrows, but understood that Block 7 merely had four members under its banner, two of which were leaders administering the organization and those below it.

"I wonder if Block 7 intends to acquire more Jaegers under its command." She muttered to herself, aloofly observing the desolate hall with a calm scrutiny. "Perhaps, I could join SIGIL and become a subordinate of the seventh Paragon."

While she wasn't a Jaeger, Lady Dobermann was a powerful metahuman. Her Brand assured her standing within the family and made it difficult for others to reject her claim of the syndicate as her own.

Echidna then shook her head and remarked. "I highly doubt-" Before she could complete her words, a soft and upfront voice interrupted her. "You want to join Block 7, huh? Are you certain about the path of Jaegers?"

Cutting her off was none other than the crimson-haired vampire of the SIGIL Seventh Division, Hecate Sanguine.

Echidna wasn't ignorant of the crimson-haired girl's capability. After all, it was an open secret that the youngest and newest member of Block 7 was the one who had brought a giant 200-meter-deep crater into the estate of the Winston Family.

If it weren't for the seventh Paragon, the gargantuan cavity would have become a historical landmark within New Janus as it altered the landscape itself.

Calming her detached heart, Echidna turned her pitch-black gaze towards Hecate and tilted her head. "Is Block 7 hiring, Miss Hecate?" Her monotone words resounded through the empty reception hall.

"I think that Miss Alastair would be pleased to hear people interested in joining Block 7." Joining in their conversation was a young man dressed in a black suit. He maintained a professional smile while standing beside his partner.

"You should be Miss Echidna of the Dobermann Family. I'm Damien, nice to meet you."
