MMORPG: Divine Mech Hunter

Chapter 1844: Breakthrough

The Worm Tribe, like the Undead, has a flaw, which is that they are not affected by morale; they do not receive motivational boosts to enhance combat power.

Of course, this applies to ordinary armies. High-ranking Worm Tribe lords and royal Worm intelligence are very high, but the battles are fought by ordinary forces.

However, this is also their advantage. Even in the last stand of battle, they are unaffected by low morale.

Consistently exerting combat power is their greatest trait; the dragon does not suffer any psychological impact due to lower combat power than the opposing air force.

They continue to fight systematically, fight, fight, fight, even dragging down an enemy with them in their dying moments, battling until their last breath.

But this is the greatest headache for the Ogre Air Force. Although the ogres are brave and have received death orders, they possess a very high level of intelligence.

High intelligence generally means a fear of death, which is inherent and unrelated to courage. There are exceptions that don't fear death, but they are extremely rare.

In reality, it's the same unless affected by certain stimuli or a special group. If someone tells you they're not afraid of death, they're either crazy or bluffing.

The dragon's corrosive acid brings immense pain; often, at the moment of killing a dragon, its tail delivers a fatal blow.

Their tail attacks detach upon hitting an object when dying, injecting all the venom for one final strike.

Thus, even though the dragon is overall no match for the ogres riding chimera, they can match the ogre air force in both momentum and battle results.

This is the most terrifying aspect; the Worm Tribe's biggest strength lies in their numbers.

Despite the Ogre Air Force's frenzied assaults, the dragon army remains hard for them to breach, with fierce slaughter reaching an extreme, air force groups clashing ceaselessly.

It's said that in merely a quarter hour, their death rate far exceeded that of any other air battle.

The sky was densely packed with aerial slaughter, howling and shouting, with sunlight obscured completely.

A quarter hour later, the second wave of artillery shells was finally prepared; amidst everyone's anticipation, a hundred artillery shells again traced trajectories in the sky toward the walls.

Grand Magician Ya Zi was heartbroken, having anticipated great losses in a war against the Worm Tribe, but never imagined even the elite ogre air force's desperate battle couldn't break through the lines or destroy a single war machine.

"Intercept these monster artillery shells at all costs. Remember, the city is your home, inside are your elders and children; if the city stands, so do you."

The grand magician's impassioned voice echoed across the battlefield, with the bitterness in his voice palpable. If possible, he would have rushed out to duel the enemy's champions.

But rationality told him it wasn't the time yet; if they all moved out, they'd fall into passivity, as the opponent has many strong figures, they similarly couldn't destroy war machines either.

Instead, they prematurely approached the brink of a life-and-death struggle.

The grand magician's words certainly inspired others; some Ogre Air Force members preferred enduring dragon attacks to breaking through blockades.

The air force was bathed in blood, with red blood being their own and green being the dragon's, possessing strong corrosive properties, resembling powerful acid.

Engulfed in black smoke, they dived downward, recklessly intercepting the Iron Star's flight path.

Various attacks and magic strikes landed on the Iron Star, causing shock among the main forces.

But Li Yao's expression remained unchanged; if the Iron Star were so easily compromised, he wouldn't have expended such effort constructing them. A faint trace of mockery appeared in Li Yao's eyes, knowing they believed the Iron Star was merely meant to destroy walls, he planned to reveal the Iron Star's true purpose in the subsequent battle.

He was unconcerned with the wall issue, focusing all his attention on Duo Ya's position and the grand magician.

Li Yao knew that with the breach of the walls, a fierce battle among champions could ignite at any moment.

Especially when ogres faltered, a battle among champions was their best recourse to salvage the situation, which was the critical factor.

If Li Yao's side couldn't withstand the enemy's assault in a champions' battle, then all previous efforts would be meaningless.

In a champions' battle, Li Yao's demand was modest; merely maintaining an undefeated state, because with the army's depletion, ogres would reach a breaking point, after all, as the grand magician said, there remain many elders and children inside the city; if all warriors perished, their sub-dimension ogre race would vanish, absorbed by other ogres.

Li Yao was prepared to exhaust millions of troops, just betting on the grand magician not daring to.

One harsh scene unfolded in the sky repeatedly, the Ogre Air Force and their chimera attacks couldn't alter the Iron Star's trajectory, several tons of weight coupled with high rotational speed and inertia, proved hard to destroy.

Thus, a tragic scene unfolded as ogres riding their chimera collided with the Iron Star.

Yet it was all futile; colliding with the Iron Star instantly, they were shredded by its rapid rotation, those spikes were not ornamental.

Blood mist enveloped the Iron Star, staining it red, then evaporated by high heat, filling the entire sky with scorchy odors.

A hundred Iron Stars followed unobstructed paths, crashing into the city walls.

Bang, bang, bang, bang...

This time was far more shocking than before, as the Iron Star exploded, the city walls, mostly destroyed by the first wave, suddenly collapsed.

Centered around the Iron Star, almost a hundred yards of walls fell on both sides, nearly a hundred breaches appeared, a wall once majestic now dilapidated and full of holes.

Some Iron Stars particularly hit the city gates, which disappeared, leaving enormous gaps.

At that moment, many ogres were crushed by stones.

At that moment, the walls ceased to obstruct the main force, with the players' main force letting out thunderous cheers.

"Grand Magician."

"Grand Magician."

The ogre generals looked exceedingly grim, not knowing whether to engage in the decisive battle, awaiting the grand magician's decision.

The grand magician nearly suffered heart palpitations, but acted composedly, showing no unfavorable emotions.

"Why panic? We've always sought a decisive battle; now that the walls are gone, isn't it the time for a decisive battle? Regroup, kill! Let these new troops understand true despair, and instruct our rookies to intercept the enemy's rookie legion; our sub-dimension ogres don't want useless trash." The grand magician's words were firm and commanding, calming the panicked ogres.

Ogre players received even harsher commands; they too were anxious, as this was their primary city, losing it would make them wanderers, losing many privileges, and beyond just being seen as outcasts, they couldn't bear the embarrassment either...
