MMORPG: Divine Mech Hunter

Chapter 1843: The Decisive Battle Hour

The main army formed by the players eagerly watched the scattered enormous war machines. These war machines were extremely large, each occupying its own space, and were anchored by chains even thicker than those of the wild boar men, standing at least dozens of yards high.

From the appearance, it looked like a bizarre cannon, but not quite the same. Overall, the design looked very strange and unconventional, like a mishmash of different things.

The artillery shells themselves were several yards in diameter and looked odd. Although they were clearly war machines, without testing, people couldn't feel reassured.

The emergence of these war machines was from a version from many years later. However, Li Yao had them appear ahead of time, and because there were no blueprints available, it was purely a conceptual idea.

The Great Artisan he summoned crafted them himself, so there were significant differences from previous generations. Even so, the differences were only in craftsmanship and materials, and the actual power would undoubtedly not be weak.

In contrast, the ordinary ogres were full of confidence. They did not believe the enemy could breach their extraordinarily high and thick walls.

To fire a single artillery shell required dozens of strong wild boar men and about ten craftsmen working together to load it, followed by several craftsmen to calibrate the aim, and another dozen wild boar men to pull the heavy chains for adjusting details.

Overall, one war machine required about a hundred people to operate.

"Iron Star No. 3 is ready."

"Iron Star No. 9 is ready."

...

With each weapon loaded and with a deafening roar echoed by the coordination of hundreds, everyone saw hundreds of massive artillery shells resembling metallic flying wheels spinning madly towards the sky.

Just seeing these heavy iron lumps, weighing several tons at least, being thrown, everyone finally understood why the war machines were so massive. Even so, the war machines shook endlessly.

Despite being in the sky, the Iron Stars continued spinning wildly, flashing dazzling sparks.

Hundreds of Iron Stars streaked across vast distances in the sky, flying over the main army's heads, and landed several hundred yards from the walls.

But the Iron Stars did not stop. They continued racing across the ground like wheels, reaching the base of the walls in the blink of an eye.

Iron Stars crashed against the walls furiously, and instead of exploding, they continued spinning wildly.

Countless spikes scraped and clashed against the walls, sending dirt and stones flying. Ogres stretched their heads to look down below.

They saw that as the Iron Stars spun madly, half of them had already drilled into the walls.

The ogres mocked them, wondering how drilling into the walls could make a difference. The walls were immensely thick, and drilling into them would at best embed the spikes. The walls were so long they seemed endless, and a hundred Iron Stars were insignificant compared to the length of the walls.

As the ogres jeered, the Iron Star seemed to punch a hole at the base of the wall, completely drilling in, with only the screeching sound of friction indicating its mad spinning.

Then, just as the main army had hoped, muffled bangs rang out. The light was obscured by the walls, without glaring sparks, and the explosion wasn't intense.

Just when everyone was disappointed, they saw the section of the wall that was hit trembling violently, then collapsing with a rumbling.

Many ogres fell from the walls, caught off guard, screaming. Faces turned pale as just one shot had already caused the walls to collapse. What about a second or third shot?

Not only did the players realize this, so did the ogres. The great magician shouted wildly, "Damn it, how can such monstrous things exist in this world? Continue sending the air force for a raid and destroy those monstrosities."

The ogres woke up as if from a dream. If they couldn't destroy the war machines, their robust walls would become a joke.

Countless ogre air forces took to the sky again, this time launching mad assaults regardless of the cost.

At this moment, under the collaboration of engineers and wild boar men, the second Iron Star was also being prepared for launch.

Li Yao watched the rising air force with a glint in his eyes, "I told you, the ultimate battle is coming. Are you ready?"

With Li Yao's words, countless dragonflies and hunters also surged from Li Yao's portal, while the Breakers stood by. They were a special unit, useless most of the time, but they would be crucial against magical forces.

Li Yao was waiting for this moment, convinced that from now on, the millions of elite Worm Tribe forces he had amassed would be completely annihilated in a relentless fight.

From this moment, the battle would be so fierce it would turn the skies and ground dark.

Although the wall hadn't fallen, anyone could see that it was inevitable, whether it was two shots or three. Didn't you see how crazed the ogres were, desperately trying to destroy the war machines?

"Are you selling these war machines?" This was Beauty's first question after coming to her senses. Such machines were simply invaluable for siege warfare. These were the thickened walls of a main city. A single shot would probably destroy a wall at a player's base.

Li Yao chuckled, "Sell? Of course. A war machine is twenty thousand Gold Coins, and an Iron Star is a thousand Gold Coins each."

"Damn, you're robbing us," Haikuotian nearly wet himself upon hearing Li Yao's offer.

Although for a super guild, twenty thousand in liquid funds wasn't impossible to gather, it wasn't easy either.

The machine alone was twenty thousand, and an artillery shell was a thousand each...

Li Yao chuckled, "You think it's expensive, but is anyone buying it? And let me remind you, it's quicker than robbery."

They smiled bitterly. Witnessing such terrifying power meant that no matter how expensive it was, people would still buy it, even if it wasn't readily available.

"Of course, as loyal allies, I can gift each of you a machine for free as one of the perks for your full support in capturing the main city. However, I can't give away artillery shells. They're too expensive to produce."

Li Yao's words brought joy to their hearts, but the non-free artillery shells made them suffer again, with each shell costing a thousand Gold Coins.

This time, the ogres deployed their elite air force, equipped with riders. Although on the same level, elite units, dragonflies were strong, they lacked riders, and in one-on-one, they would certainly be disadvantaged.

The legion was at a disadvantage in battle; a normal army would collapse under such conditions. But since the dragonflies were Worm Tribe, they didn't have a sense of self-preservation. Obeying orders was their highest life creed. Their lives never belonged to themselves; they were killing machines.

Unfearing and unyielding tools of slaughter, so despite being at a disadvantage, the ogres' elite air force could not break through the dragonfly army's blockade.

The fierce battle between both sides was incomparable to any other aerial battlefield...
