Miss Witch Doesn't Want to be a Diva

Chapter 77: Invitation from the Student Council

After a relatively lively winter break, Hexia returned to Edith Academy.

It seemed that nothing had changed here, as students arrived in various luxury cars, one after another stepping into the academy, where the environment remained beautiful and the temperature comfortable.

Passing through the summery shade of the trees, Tilan, clad in a white dress, walked toward the figure waving at her.

"Deloris, Happy New Year~"

The young lady in black hair and a black dress was still in full regalia, holding an intricately laced parasol, and her chest was wrapped in a breathable lace bustier, revealing a bit of fairness. Among the girls Tilan knew of the same age, it was Deloris who had the most voluptuous figure.

If Yilin was the type of girl who appeared somewhat efficient but showed extra care and patience in front of friends, then Deloris was the ladylike young miss who was always appropriately dignified and composed, without any worries.

"Tilan is back too." Once the girl approached, Deloris took her hand, and the two walked through the academy's shade, talking about some holiday anecdotes.

"This time I, Ruby, and Efnie went to Selene Bay. It's a protected area, home to dolphins and many fish, walking through the underwater sightseeing tunnel was like strolling through another world... Tilan, if you're free someday, you could also go."

"Thank you, I will go next time." Tilan nodded and briefly mentioned her own holiday experiences before the two entered a pavilion in the garden.

Though called a pavilion, it was actually a square room made of transparent glass where one could sit and drink tea without fear of rain, with all sorts of blooming flowers outside.

"But, there were unhappy times during the vacation too." After they sat down, Deloris pressed a touchpoint on the table, and a teapot with two delicate cups rose up, then automatically started heating the tea.

"What was it?"

"Efnie failed to advance again, and she looked pretty down." Deloris shook her head.

"Actually, I only knew Efnie before and wasn't familiar with her, it was only because of club activities last semester that we started talking more."

"This failure hit her hard. I saw that her spirits were low, she must be very upset."

"Such things..." Tilan thought for a bit but wasn't sure how to comfort her.

"In the new semester, she will probably isolate herself for some time. It's difficult for others to console her; we can only try not to upset her any further." Deloris straightened her hair and then lifted the now-hot teapot to pour tea into Tilan's cup and her own.

Indeed, besides her father, Tilan, the close friend, was the only one for whom this heiress would personally pour tea.

The two of them sat in the pavilion for a while, catching up, until an hour later when they parted, and at that moment, Tilan received a message from the school.

"They want me to visit the student council?" Peering at the message, the girl wondered what it could be about.

More than ten minutes later, she arrived in front of the student council building, entered the elevator, and quietly ascended until reaching the top floor.

The entire floor belonged to Edith Academy's student council. Passing through the somewhat quiet corridor, the girl gently knocked on the office door.

Click, after the door opened, a young man with golden hair appeared. He was Amors, the president of the student council this term.

Compared to usual, the student council president's office was much quieter today, there was nobody else, only him and the curtains swayed by the breeze.

"Sorry, I don't like air conditioning much and prefer a natural breeze. I'll impose a bit on Little Tilan today." He gestured for the girl to sit down first and then brought over two cups of coffee and placed them on the coffee table.

The room was not hot even without air conditioning, so there must be some other cooling method. The girl did not dwell on it but simply wanted to know why the president had summoned her.

After taking a careful sip from his coffee cup, President Amors finally started to speak slowly.

"Tilan, it's been half a year since you came to Edith Academy, hasn't it?"

"Yes."

"How are you adjusting? Is everything still comfortable for you?"

"Comfortable, everything in the academy is quite nice."

"That's good to hear. Actually, the reason I asked Tilan here today is that I have a favor to ask of you."

"What would that be?"

"I would like you to serve as a member of the student council to help handle some school affairs, both internally and externally. Before you decide, let me explain the situation first."

President Amors raised his hand, signaling Tilan not to refuse just yet.

"Firstly, Edith Academy is quite a unique institution. Many of the students come from prominent families, which makes them hard to govern at times."

"Students are only here for a few years, but teachers work here for much longer. If they offend students with strong backgrounds by exerting authority, even a small trip-up can make life very difficult for those teachers. That is the power of influence," Amors said, putting down his teacup and tapping his fingers lightly on the table.

"However, we are different. Most members of the student council also come from extraordinary backgrounds, so we're not afraid of retaliation. Plus, as we're peers, conflicts between us tend not to get blown out of proportion by our parents, which makes it easier to reconcile."

"Thus, at Edith Academy, the power that the student council wields is much larger than in most schools, for example, in matters of budget approval or in disciplining students."

"It seems like that kind of work could easily offend people," the girl couldn't help but comment.

"Indeed, but unless you want no benefits at all, offending people is unavoidable," Amors replied.

"The rise of a company means taking market share, which inevitably squeezes the profit margins of other companies. The places with the most significant benefits are also the most rife with conflict."

"Things are still relatively good within the academy, at least we don't have any fundamental conflicts of interest, so the job isn't as difficult as you might think."

"Would you like to give it a try? It's also a good opportunity for you to grow. I believe your teachers at the academy must have mentioned it to you before."

"They did mention it, but I didn't expect it so soon," the girl shook her head, it was still her first year after all.

"Ha-ha, indeed. It's rare for freshmen to take up duties in the student council, but this time it's a special case. I'm about to graduate, so it would be irresponsible not to find a successor soon."

"Currently, most of the student council members are seniors. When we leave, many positions will be vacant. Considering the future development of the academy, these positions definitely can't be left empty, so that's why we thought of you."

"Why me?" the girl asked, despite having an inkling of the reason in her heart.

"Firstly, it's because of the academy's recommendation, and secondly, Tilan, you truly are qualified."

"Haven't you noticed? Now in the freshman class, there's no one with a greater influence than you. The sophomores are divided among various factions, not to mention many juniors are so focused on advancing to the next level that they can't spare the energy for other matters. So, you are the most suitable candidate."

So that was how it was. Because of the establishment of her club, she had unknowingly recruited many people, and now she really had no good excuse to decline.

With this, Tilan could only nod in agreement.

"Very well. We won't start you off with anything too difficult," President Amors said as he pushed up his glasses.

"Come to report for duty over the next two days. I will have someone here to guide you through the various procedures."

"Furthermore, now that you've agreed, I will also provide you with a specially tailored uniform tomorrow. Just remember to wear it in the future."

"I'll be counting on you from now on, Tilan," said the golden-haired, pointed-eared president with an elf bloodline, displaying his signature smile, much like a shrewd old fox eyeing a little rabbit.
