Chapter 74: Divination Hut_3
```
"No problem, added to the itinerary," Yilin typed in the new location and arrangements on the projection screen.
After breakfast, the three of them continued their tour of the venue until the afternoon when they arrived at the Tri-Phase Moon Academy's hall.
Upon entering, the first thing they noticed was darkness; the building was designed to create a dim environment, and a 'crescent moon' hung from the dome, with a path meandering into a hill and a mushroom cottage with a pumpkin lamp burning by the roadside.
In line with the instructions in front of the cottage, the three got ready to ask questions and undergo divination. They entered the mushroom cottage, the door closed behind them, and the candlelight ignited. A masked witch sat at a round table covered with a deep purple tablecloth, dressed in predominantly black witch's attire, adorned with various gems and mysterious patterns.
If this witch wasn't asleep, she probably could have fooled them well.
Hexia shook the snoozing witch, who slowly lifted her head and yawned, shattering Hexia's preconceived notions of a witch. To her, the one who fit the image of a witch the most was the princess, the silver-haired Sage of the forest, an omnipotent Miracle Witch.
"Hello, is there something you need?" the witch straightened her hat and finally got down to business.
"It is said that you can do divinations here," Yilin found a spot to sit and then pulled Hexia to join her.
"Yes, but it will be 600 Federation Coins per session, and that's a fair price. If it weren't for the fact that I haven't graduated yet, it would definitely cost more," the witch spoke again, giving Hexia the opportunity to take a closer look at her.
Caramel red hair, wine-red pupils, rather heavy eyeshadow possibly from lack of sleep, a fitted black dress covering her body with a witch's dress skirt over it, star and moon pendants dangling from her ears, and wristbands woven from red string in a special pattern on her wrists. She was surrounded by black and crimson night-scented flower high heels by her feet, not worn but instead stepped on with silk-stockinged feet on a paper mat—probably more comfortable that way.
Languid yet sleep-deprived, dressed appropriately but sloppy in demeanor, was the girl's internal assessment.
"I want to know about next year's fortune," Yilin was just curious and didn't really mind whatever the result might be.
"That's easy, let me check." After that, the witch rummaged through a cabinet next to her and pulled out a deck of cards, placing them on the table.
"Draw one."
"Don't the cards need to be shuffled?" Yilin asked with doubt.
"When I draw the cards, the wheel of fate has already begun to turn, and every single one of our actions is part of it," her voice suddenly turned ethereal, and without anyone noticing, her posture straightened up.
"Alright then." Yilin drew a card and then turned it over as instructed. Stay updated with empire
The beautifully illustrated card depicted a traveler on a journey, weighed down with a bundle, trudging along a dusty road, a small village with smoke rising from it in the background, and in front of him was a dog, halfway to standing on hind legs, barking, while the traveler stepped back half a step, raising his walking stick in his hand.
"'The Traveler and the Obstructive Dog,' this card carries quite a few meanings," the witch said, picking up the card and closing one eye, her tone mysterious.
"There is a saying, 'As dogs roam the roads, so do sticks.' Indeed, even if you don't want it, all sorts of difficulties will come looking for you."
"Dogs that wander the roads often encounter sticks, and those who carry sticks will invariably meet fierce dogs."
```
"Travelers merely pass through the village, but dogs believe they are thieves, intending to bite them. Meanwhile, the travelers have no choice but to defend themselves with sticks,"
"This suggests that your career will make progress, yet you will encounter jealousy from others, or malicious people obstructing your path, causing you trouble. Fortunately, you're not completely defenseless; don't you have a stick in your hand?"
"Of course, if it's drawn upside down, its meaning is another layer entirely."
"You are nothing but a little dog wanting to return home, but travelers believe you want to bite them, so they pick up their sticks to hit you. This foretells your innocence but also hints at a potential loss, for the traveler carries a bundle, which might have been stolen from the village you dwell in."
"Overall, both interpretations signify innocent encounters with trouble, one leaning towards gain, the other towards loss."
Yilin listened thoughtfully, while Mel beside her had stars in her eyes, filled with admiration.
"I want a divination too."
"What, dearest little sister, do you wish to inquire about?"
"I want to know when I can become a Sequence 5, no, a Sequence 6 powerful Breeder!" Mel said enthusiastically, holding her ash moon cat.
"Then you should draw a card as well," she said, and with a light pat on the table, the cards began to move, spinning several times before settling down neatly stacked.
She spread them out with one hand in a precise fan shape, which amazed Mel and made the young witch across from her even more proud.
Mel reached out cautiously, pulled out a card, and turned it over.
The card depicted four young men, one of whom sat astride a tree branch playing a seven-stringed lyre, another stood underneath playing the flute and slightly bending down. Beneath the tree in the center, another was singing out loud, one hand on his chest and the other extended, while the last one lay beneath the tree, his eyes covered with a hat, appearing asleep but with toes jingling from bells, seemingly joining in the music.
All four wore identical but differently colored clothes and, judging by their faces, seemed to be brothers. However, due to the portrayal in the image, the young man singing under the tree stood out the most.
"'The Concert Under the Tree,'" this is a card with good but ambiguous symbolism," explained the young witch.
"From the image, the four are harmonious, enjoying their ensemble without worries. However, upon closer inspection, each of them has distinct personalities and statuses. The most radiant is the singing one, followed by the youth playing the lyre on the tree, then the one bending down to play the flute, and the least remarkable is the young man half-asleep under the tree."
"Based on this card, your future seems to be quite smooth, with no major tribulations, and even those around you treat you well. However, because of this, your future also holds uncertainty. You could become the dazzling young singer or just the one tagging along, half-asleep under the tree. The presence of the big tree is both a backdrop and a form of support, implying you have excellent elder care."
"Hmm, which means the future is promising, but if I don't try hard, I might end up being useless, right?" Mel analyzed with a hint of distress.
"Exactly, smart little cutie~"
"Drawing the card upright signifies favorable symbolism, but if upside down, it suggests imminent collapse, with patrons and backers about to tumble and all four on the brink of separation, with the most radiant one falling the hardest," the young witch shook her head, lamenting the different fates of life.
"Now it's your turn, miss with the black hair. What wishes or mysteries do you seek knowledge about?" Even though Hexia hadn't spoken up, the other party approached her; those wine-red eyes shone with a cryptic light.
