Chapter 49: Ballads in the Wind (Part 3)
On the reddened sandy wasteland, outside this mountain hollow, rows of neatly built mud-brick houses were constructed, seemingly during the time when Tilan was not present. One cannot help but marvel at the efficiency and mobilization ability of the Heshan Rescue Association members, as virtually all members chipped in and cooperated with clear division of labor.
No wonder they were able to survive the millennial chaos. If it weren't for this insect disaster, they might still be an independent power standing firm.
Tilan descended slowly with her entourage, among whom 7 were originally members of the caravan, and a few young boys and girls from the prairie with good talent, brought here by Tilan for personal guidance. There were also four Silkworm Moth Species looking around with their wings fluttering gently.
"There are so many people here, with so many around, it feels so safe." One of the Silkworm Moth Species cheerfully flapped her wings, though unfortunately, she couldn't fly.
"By the way, you haven't told me your names yet." Tilan recalled that she hadn't asked what the four were called.
"My name is Brenna." She had slightly long silvery snow hair that reached her back.
"I am Temeluna." She was the youngest of the four.
"I'm Papana." She had her hair tied in twin tails.
"My name is Ye Yina." She had the longest hair, nearly reaching her feet.
The four little ones all had silvery snow hair and snow-white moth wings. If not for the slight differences in hairstyle and physique, it would be hard to tell them apart.
All ending with "na," Tilan thought this might be their naming habit. They also had the branded mark of the Wolf Blood Species on their shoulders, to prevent them from escaping or being privately taken away and sold.
Noticing those rough characters, Tilan had them come to her one by one, and then she caressed their shoulders with her hand, gradually erasing those branded marks to restore their normal white skin.
"Ooh, it doesn't hurt at all, I'm so happy~"
Watching the marks on their shoulders vanish with a cool sensation, these little ones surprisingly first noted that it didn't hurt, showing that to them, not enduring pain was far more important than being enslaved.
These little creatures really make one feel tender affection and helplessness. Tilan thought, deciding to have Moli look after them first, ensuring they wouldn't be disturbed by others. She then led everyone back to the valley to meet with the chief of the moose and the members of the Heshan Rescue Association.
An hour later, in the remodeled hall within the cave, Tilan met with the current management personnel within the camp, mostly members of the Heshan Rescue Association, with some from other species as well.
For the new faces, the members of the Heshan Rescue Association were not surprised. If this girl returned quietly, that would be strange. Such a radiant figure would attract attention wherever she goes.
"Now, let me report the situation to Lord Tilan." A member, dressed smartly, stood up, raised his hand, and an old-fashioned projector switched on, casting charts and data onto the stone wall of the mountain.
"In the past month, we have preliminarily completed the construction of our home, such as digging underground wells and establishing water towers, erecting preliminary residential buildings, and excavating drainage ditches to prepare for the upcoming rainy season."
"Although we encountered some difficulties during the entire process, with the guidance of Mr. Ore from the moose and the assistance of Lady Loloria's mechanical body, everything was successfully completed." The mechanical bodies brought from the underground ruins were of great help during the construction of the camp.
"Additionally, we especially need to thank Lady Ores, who helped many partners who lost their families gradually walk out of the shadows." It seems that Ores has matured quite a bit during the time I was away.
After exchanging intelligence information, the next subject was the imminent agriculture cultivation. With the Purification Crystals manufactured by Tilan, Ores has already used it throughout this month to purify all open spaces in the valley.
"The rain will be coming very soon." Tilan recalled the humid moisture she felt upon returning and made this judgment.
"Prepare for drainage; during this period, focus mainly on farming production to try to yield the necessary food for the second half of the year before our supplies run out."
"Understood!" everyone responded, and the meeting adjourned.
Before everyone had even left, Ores eagerly ran up to Tilan embracing her.
"Tilan, you're finally back, poor Ores, all alone." This month, she slept alone every night, sometimes dreaming in the middle of the night with no one to share with.
"Okay, it's alright now, I won't leave Ores for so long again." Tilan hugged Ores, feeling her chest pressed against herself, with a faint floral scent coming from her hair.
This month, Ores didn't gain weight; could it truly be because she missed me, and ate less? Tilan stroked Ores' hair and back, and the latter slowly raised her head.
"Tilan, tell me a story, for Ores." It seems she was very interested in hearing about Tilan's experiences over this month.
"Alright, I'll tell Ores tonight." The girl agreed with a smile, then held her hand and walked out of the hall to look around the camp.
As they walked, Tilan recounted her experiences throughout the month, encounters with the Fox-tail Species settlement, the savage Wolf Blood Species, and various new sights and sounds.
"That, the Wolf Blood Queen, is she very big?"
"Yes, very big, maybe over four meters tall, about two and a half Ores?" Tilan thought for a moment.
"Tilan, amazing, not afraid of her." Ores continued, meaning she found Tilan truly remarkable.
"Yes, yes, but I indeed look slightly young, so they weren't afraid of me initially." Tilan thought.
"Tilan, good." Finally, Ores said her favorite catchphrase, words the girl had heard most in the past six months.
"Ores is also very good." Tilan replied, then asked how Ores had comforted everyone during this period.
"I would, play music." Ores answered with a small sense of pride, showing a few expressions reminiscent of her past self.
So it was playing music, I thought she sang for everyone. It seems singing is still a bit challenging for her now.
"What did you play?" Tilan was curious.
"Just that song." Upon saying that, Ores began to hum lightly, a familiar and unforgettable melody resounded.
Initially, this piece had no name, it had no lyrics or official title, just a melody a girl hummed while gazing at the scenery in a lonely ancient castle. But as the dark Fifth Epoch ended, even this once casually hummed tune gained a grand name of its own.
"~The Hymn of the Golden Rose~"
———— Dedicated to the Half-Elf girl who illuminated the night and saved civilization.
