Miss Witch Doesn't Want to be a Diva

Chapter 48: Stone Sword Covenant and Queen Hexia (Part 3)

"However, when I was nine years old, our settlement still encountered a disaster. A wandering polar bear attacked us, and even the strongest people in the settlement couldn't defeat it, so everyone fled for their lives."

"Just like that, my family and I were traversing the steep snowy slopes and accidentally fell into a valley."

"I should have died at that time, but a Butterfly Species girl saved me."

"Yes, it was the genius of the Butterfly Species from twenty years ago, Molila. However, at that time, she hadn't returned to the grassland; she was studying with the Sage in the north."

"So, I was brought before the Sage as well and followed in study. Molila can be considered my senior, and she cared for me like an elder sister or mother."

"Later she told me she wanted to go back home, and at that time, I said, once I grow up in a few years, I'll go see her. I didn't expect it to be a farewell forever."

"When I arrived at the grassland, the Butterfly Species was already endangered. This was when I used my knowledge and abilities to save the remaining members, earning everyone's trust and leading them to settle down slowly, up to this day."

"What did the Sage who taught you look like?" Tilan was quite curious.

"The teacher's expression was aged, hair snow-white, but his body didn't have the wrinkles and sagging typical of an old man; instead, there was somewhat of a resemblance to a young person."

"He knew a lot, whether it be mathematics, literature, history, art, or transcendent skills. According to him, he encountered a divine miracle in his youth, then had an incredibly long dream, and upon waking, he understood a wealth of knowledge he hadn't known before."

"He said that it was the god imparting this knowledge to him, hoping he would educate the ignorant people of this world."

"However, the teacher's journey of education wasn't smooth, and after suffering several failures, he gradually gave up, only teaching those he considered geniuses, including Molila and me."

"I see..." Tilan knew that asking further was pointless. The true face and identity of the Sage would have to be found by herself, but her interest in these matters wasn't as high now.

After the conversation ended, Tilan asked the other to rest and heal, then walked out of the tent.

At this moment, someone suddenly rushed into the area where the tents were set up, shouting, "Found her, Queen has been found."

Upon hearing this voice, many people ran out of the tents, most of them from the Wolf Blood Species.

Then the words that followed dashed the hopes of all the remaining Wolf Blood Species.

"The Queen's corpse has been transported back."

With a jostling dragged cart, a body beyond ordinary entered the ruined camp slowly.

Many gathered on the street to watch after hearing the news, whispering amongst themselves. While alive, the Wolf Blood Queen was a fearsome figure, but dead, she was not.

On the cart, a head of red hair remained striking, though the face beneath was somewhat distorted, completely devoid of its usual ferocity and arrogance. Golden threads seemed to seep from the body's flesh, as if woven into the body.

Upon hearing that the Wolf Blood Queen's body had been brought into the camp, Tilan couldn't help but cover her forehead in frustration from her seat.

Would they think I enjoy seeing my opponent's body, treating it as an honor? Although she was disdainful while alive and did nothing worthy, now that she's dead, let her rest in the earth. Why bother bringing her back?

Unfortunately, at this moment, nothing she said mattered. A large crowd followed slowly behind the cart, reaching the camp's center, under the Stone Sword.

Knowing that hiding now would also be futile, Tilan had to tidy her hair and clothing and walk out of her resting tent.

Gus knelt beside the cart, accompanied by several leaders of the Wolf Blood Settlement, who all lay quietly on the ground.

The death of the Wolf Blood Queen shattered their inner hopes and expectations, and at this moment, they truly submitted to this young girl.

All eyes were fixed on her, waiting for her decision and judgment. Tilan turned her gaze to the long-deceased Wolf Blood Queen.

The opponent probably ran for miles in the wilderness before succumbing to the expanding golden leaves on her wounds, losing consciousness and collapsing.

Perhaps there wasn't much pain in the end; Tilan consoled herself. Such people, once killed, there's nothing to sympathize with, but there's still a slight melancholy—not for the Wolf Blood Queen, but for the awareness of her own inevitable demise, lying quietly in some unknown corner someday.

"Cremate her." The girl opened her hand, and a colorless, pale flame ignited from the Wolf Blood Queen's body.

In the flames, the Queen who once ruled the grassland gradually turned to bone and ashes, as countless people watched stunned, until the Wolf Blood Queen truly disappeared before them. Only then did they clearly realize that the sky over this grassland had changed.

"Long live Queen Hexia!" Gus shouted first.

"Long live Queen Hexia..." came a faltering call.

Gradually, more and more voices echoed, pairs of eyes from weaker species gazing hopefully at the figure beyond the flames. Regardless, this girl, at least, was more acceptable and willing to be endorsed than that Wolf Blood Queen.

"Long live Queen Hexia!"

Curved swords and spears raised to the sky, the sound spreading in all directions, from the former King Camp along the great river, until reaching the grassland and the sunset's end.
