Chapter 44: Forced Detainment
The treatment tasks on the sixth day ended at dusk. Starting from the afternoon, Tilan began intentionally selecting more serious patients for treatment, while those with milder conditions were delayed.
Finally, before nightfall, the more serious patients had been treated. As for those who hadn't yet been seen, their conditions could also be cured by other doctors, though it would take more time and the effects wouldn't be as good.
The sun at the horizon sank below the line of the ground. When the last ray of sunshine vanished from the top of the tent, the tent's curtain fully dropped and closed, followed by the process of cleaning the environment and tidying up things.
After washing her hands and removing the beak mask worn for a whole day, Tilan wiped the sweat from her forehead, then took off her coat, revealing a cooler dress.
"Phew, finally I can catch my breath." Sitting on a bench, the girl took off her shoes, rinsed her feet with clean water, and then stepped lightly on the wooden board to let them air dry.
At this time, others in the tent also took off their coats and masks, tidying up the things inside the tent, occasionally coming over to say a few words to Tilan.
"There seems to be a quarrel outside, a few latecomer patients wanting to come in."
"I heard it." Tilan nodded, then looked at the closed door curtain.
"But we can't stay here any longer, otherwise this process will never end. There's always someone injured, always someone in need of treatment, but my ability is limited."
"Today I've done my best to heal those seriously hurt, as for the rest, they'll have to find reliable doctors themselves." She found a towel to dry her feet, then put on socks and light shoes again.
"Let's go, the specific follow-up matters will be handled by the Wolf Blood King Camp, after all, they have collected quite a bit of money these days." Speaking of this, Tilan shook her head, actually, it was still a loss, with the money collected by the Wolf Blood King Camp, it could buy three times the food.
However, this was their territory, and she didn't have any intention to disrupt the order for now, so she complied with the rules set by the others.
"Yes." The group had mostly finished tidying up, handing over some of the temporarily rented coats to the butler in charge of the main tent, and completing the handover of other items.
But just as they were about to leave, a familiar figure came from the back entrance of the tent.
"Why are you all in such a hurry?" Gus's fat-headed and big-eared appearance made it hard to associate with the Wolf Blood species. Today, he wore a loose white coat, with three golden chains around his neck, followed by several strong guards.
"The Queen has heard about the agreement with Miss Hexia and me. Over these days, Miss Hexia's reputation has spread throughout the King Camp. Today, coincidentally, the six-day practice of medicine came to an end, so the Queen has invited you to a banquet for dinner. Would you follow me there?" Despite being an invitation, with his smiling expression, there seemed to be no option for refusal.
"This..." A few people present were somewhat hesitant.
For the Wolf Blood species, attending the Queen's banquet would be a great honor, but they were not members of the King Camp. Facing the Queen ruling the grasslands personally might feel as burdensome as a mountain.
"Alright, but I need to change my clothes." Tilan wanted to see what kind of person the Wolf Blood Queen was.
"That's certainly fine, time is not that tight, as long as you all gather at the main tent within an hour." Gus responded generously.
He then had people escort Hexia and her group back to the caravan station to change clothes and prepare, while he himself returned with others.
Upon returning to the station, caravan members noticed several groups of Wolf Blood Species openly and secretly guarding and watching outside the station. Knowing that leaving now might not be a good choice, everyone started to change into more appropriate clothes for the banquet.
"Just take six people, that should be enough, the rest stay here to guard. Also, tidy up things, we'll depart tomorrow." Tilan thought for a moment and instructed.
"Yes." Although the girl didn't explain the reason, others in the caravan also sensed something unusual.
It seemed this time procuring food wasn't going to be that easy.
...
One hour later, the main tent of the King Camp.
Called a tent, but the space inside was extraordinarily spacious. The tent was supported by twelve huge logs, within it was space about several floors high, with dim glass lamps hanging above, burning pine oil inside exuding bursts of fragrance.
When Tilan and her companions arrived, many high-ranking members of the Wolf Blood Species had already gathered there, imitating the ancient feudal nobility from legendary stories, dressed in satin finery, holding wine glasses, engaging in small talk with one another. The calluses and scars on their arms and faces, however, were somewhat incongruous with the satin gowns they wore.
"Miss Hexia has arrived~" The attendant at the entrance noticed Tilan and the others approaching, quickly notifying.
Even though it had only been a week, the fame and reputation of this young girl within the King Camp were well known by everyone, only the outside public was unaware of her exact image, but the staff within the King Camp and some settlement leaders knew that this seemingly young girl was the famed doctor who shone during this time.
"Miss Hexia, good evening~" A noble lady of the Wolf Blood Species greeted her with a raised glass.
After dressing up and grooming, the appearance of the Wolf Blood Species didn't differ much from ordinary humans, but if in combat status, it was a completely different sight.
"Hello~" The girl politely returned the greeting, then continued forward.
