Chapter 2: CRASH
silence.
My body is new.
I am strong.
I am Superman.
And I have a world to save.
One second I was having a tearful goodbye with a truck stupid isekai tropes – the next I was crashing onto Earth. Or, well, a Earth. I still wasn't entirely convinced this wasn't some elaborate dream fueled by too much late-night comic reading.
The crash is unlike anything I've ever experienced. There's the deafening sound of the Earth tearing apart, the sickening smell of smoke and something that oddly smells like burnt popcorn, and the crushing sensation of being thrown around like a ragdoll. For a terrifying moment, I thought this was it. The end of the grand, unintended adventure before it even began.
When I finally come to, my body aches, but nothing seems broken. I fell from space and I was barely hurt? That…was new. Back on earth, a scraped knee felt like a major inconvenience.
I force my eyes open
I sit up, wincing at the stiffness, and survey the damage. The forest around me is a scene of destruction. Trees are toppled and scorched, and the ground is littered with the remains of the tree I crashed into. "Well," I say, "I made it. Sort of."
As I stand amidst the wreckage of my crash landing, I can't help but chuckle. "Well, that was... a thing." My voice sounds deeper, stronger, like it belongs to someone else. Someone important.
I dust myself off and take a moment to breathe. A small, still part of me wonders if I'm dreaming, but the ache in my muscles and the smell of burnt tree bark tell me otherwise. Glancing down, I realize my clothes are still intact—somehow. No idea what kind of alien fabric Truck-kun outfitted me with, but kudos to the durability.
I try to think. First step, get water. Second step, check my appearance—because if I'm going to save this world, I'd better not look like I crawled out of a crater. Third step... uh, figure out what I'm actually supposed to do here.
With that settled, I focus on the task at hand. I crouch slightly, then leap into the air, testing my flight. The feeling is just as exhilarating as before, though I manage to keep my movements more controlled this time.
The world blurs below as I soar upward, the cool breeze brushing against my skin. My new Kryptonian senses make it easy to pick up on details even from this height—trees swaying, streams glistening in the sunlight, animals moving about.
I spot a shimmering lake in the distance, surrounded by dense trees. Perfect. Angling myself downward, I glide toward it, landing softly on the grassy shore.
Kneeling by the water, I catch a glimpse of my reflection in the water and my jaw nearly drops.
Whoa.
I blink, leaning closer to the surface of the lake. My face stares back at me, only it doesn't look like... well, me.
My eyes are an electric shade of blue, glowing faintly like polished sapphires. My hair, once an unruly mess, is now jet-black and short, falling effortlessly into place as though styled by some cosmic barber. My jawline could probably cut steel, and my skin looks impossibly clear.
I splash water on my face, half-expecting the reflection to disappear. But no, it's real.
"I look like a superhero," I mutter.
No, scratch that—I look like the superhero. Handsome, powerful, and totally not someone you'd want to mess with. It's like the universe decided to give me every genetic upgrade imaginable.
Blue eyes that shine like jewels stare back at me, so bright they almost glow in the sunlight. My pitch-black hair is short but somehow perfectly styled, as though I'd just stepped out of a magazine photoshoot. But the thing that really strikes me? I look young. Like, high school young.
I lean closer to the water, inspecting my face. "Wait a second… I look like a teenager?!" My voice cracks a little at the realization. "Truck-kun, what did you do? I'm supposed to be Superman, not… not Superboy!"
I laugh at the absurdity, the sound echoing through the wrecked forest. "Superboy," I repeat, smirking. "You know what? That's not half bad. Maybe I'll use it. Just for kicks."
Shaking my head, I stretch my arms, marveling at the sheer strength I feel coiled in my body. The aches and stiffness from the crash seem to melt away as if my muscles are getting used to this new reality.
I take a deep breath, my chest rising as I stare out at the lake. The water sparkles under the sunlight, a serene moment in an otherwise insane day.
This is my new reality. My new life. And as Superboy. I'm going to make it count.
For a moment, I let myself smile. Whatever comes next, I'll face it head-on. After all, I've got the powers, the look, and hopefully, the courage to match.
With a final glance at my reflection, I launch into the sky, ready to see what this world has to offer.
As I soar higher, I grin to myself. "Superboy… yeah, that'll work for now."
