"How could this happen? Are you kidding me?"
Noah's face was extremely grim, but fortunately, he now had the face of a dragon, his body wrapped in a layer of black power resembling gauze.
Otherwise, his appearance might have compelled Ancient One to intervene. Even though Noah had merged into his current form, Ancient One still had a way to halt his magic and potentially reverse time to before the spell began.
The issue Noah now faced was that he simply didn't have enough magical power to fully finalize his new body!
The root cause of this dilemma brought Noah to tears: his own greed.
Noah had gathered an immense amount of data through six or seven years of research, whether it was on dragons or himself.
When Noah obtained this data and began planning how to transform himself to better adapt to his new form, the complexity of his designs was beyond imagination.
It was akin to the human body—imagine your heart originally positioned on the left side of your chest, but after transformation, it moves to the kidney area.
To ensure the heart continued functioning as it should, Noah created numerous magical "bridges."
This was what made Noah's new body "100% perfect," an achievement he took great pride in.
But now, the magical energy required to finalize this "perfect" form had exceeded Noah's limits!
Although Noah's magical power was immense, his body could only handle so much. His magical energy had become extraordinarily pure, but even that wasn't enough to finalize the transformation.
The situation Noah was facing was dire.
"Damn it, the manual didn't mention this! This damn system is cheating me!"
Noah cursed inwardly, unsure of how to proceed.
The manual provided by the system didn't indicate the amount of magic required to complete the transformation. In other words, if Noah had followed the manual strictly, he wouldn't need such an excess of magical energy.
The system's instructions were quite detailed, but Noah had made numerous modifications.
The initial data provided by the system included dragon elemental attributes, the flow of dragon magic, and guidance on dragon evolution. It also provided essential notes on form changes and how to reverse magical energy flow.
Using this data, Noah had created several "bridges" to adapt to his new body more efficiently and without obstruction.
If Noah had adhered strictly to the system's instructions, he could still transform into a dragon, but the adaptation process would have taken much longer.
"If I had known earlier, I should've spent more time!"
Noah was on the verge of tears, facing two possible options.
The first was to completely abandon the transformation, though this could result in Ancient One needing to reverse time and space.
The second was to find a powerful force capable of helping Noah finalize his transformation.
"Damn it, I'd ask the teacher for help, but I can't speak right now. Even if I could, I'd probably end up crying out like a dragon!"
The current situation was troublesome and complicated.
Then, Noah suddenly remembered the power granted to him by Ancient One when they exchanged data with the system a few years ago, and how the system had hacked it—those high-dimensional powers from the Dark Dimension!
Though the power was minuscule, Noah distinctly remembered the term high-dimensional power.
In some cases, magic or other types of power weren't judged by quantity but by quality.
As for the attributes of these powers?
Noah no longer cared. Even if he did, he'd stop worrying about them immediately.
This world, based on Marvel and blending in all sorts of elements, had never operated on Cthulhu-like powers.
Noah had never encountered the Old Ones, the Sleeping God, or the Lord of R'lyeh.
He had never sensed any terrifying power lurking in the waters, nor had he seen any octopus-like monsters in magical history.
In this world, power was controlled through will and mastery, not by succumbing to the temptation of power and becoming its slave.
Thus, Noah didn't care about the nature of the power he needed, only that it was vital for his survival now.
"I knew this would happen," Noah muttered just as the system's mechanical voice suddenly echoed in his mind.
"You knew?" Noah frowned, his mind flooded with questions. "Did you foresee this, or is this your plan?"
"This conclusion is based on your actions," the system replied coldly. "Don't think I'm the mastermind behind all this."
"Then how were you created? I'm confused." Noah's frustration grew, though his body was on the verge of collapse.
"Deal with your problem first, then we'll talk," the system's voice remained emotionless.
As the system's words echoed, dark power spread through Noah's body.
The Ancient One immediately furrowed her brows, sensing the shift. The amulet on her chest unfolded, and a gem emitting green light rotated silently inside.
However, the Ancient One made no move, sensing that the dark power had lost its terrifying will.
This power had transformed into pure energy, though its excessive mass and dark aura were still unsettling.
"Noah, this kid, quietly stripped Dormammu's will from his power?" The Ancient One's eyes gleamed. This was promising news.
Noah, however, had no idea what the Ancient One was thinking. His concern had been that these powers might prompt her to reverse time and space, potentially grabbing him for questioning.
Fortunately, this didn't happen, and Noah let out a sigh of relief.
"Okay, now we can talk," the system spoke once more, as Noah's body began to change again. "If you have any questions, ask them."
"Where are you from? Why did you choose me?" Noah didn't hesitate to ask.
"I didn't choose you. I'm just unlucky," the system responded with a hint of irritation in its tone. "I was created by the Lord of the Void, but his friend—a damn dragon—was extremely unreliable. When they were doing experiments with me, the dragon got careless and was discovered, so they threw me into the void."
"The Lord of the Void? And his friend is a dragon?" Noah blinked in confusion. "Do they have names?"
"Of course, but I don't know them." The system's voice remained mechanical. "I was activated and cast into the void, shut down, and only reactivated when I reached you. Do you think I had a choice?"
Noah's lips twitched. He hadn't expected his system to have such bad luck.
But reflecting on his own circumstances, it seemed he wasn't much better off. After having a barbecue and a few drinks with friends, he woke up to find himself in the body of a baby. The situation was undeniably frustrating.
Suddenly, Noah felt a strange sympathy for the system.
Both he and the system seemed cursed with misfortune. Two incredibly unlucky beings meeting—was it fate?
Noah then had a thought: after learning magic, he'd begun to experience some good fortune. Could it be that negative times negative equals positive?
Shaking his head, Noah decided not to dwell on such confusing thoughts. His body was finally taking shape, and time was running out.
After some consideration, he pressed on with his questions: "So, do you want to go back?"
"Go back?" The system sneered. "You, a weakling, want to take me back to the endless void? What's the point?"
That was the answer Noah had expected. It made sense now—his system was a first-generation test product!
Though a bit repelled by the system, Noah had to admit that it was precisely what he needed.
"Alright, I'm a weakling," Noah conceded. "Was that system space you brought? And how did you know I'd use these powers?"
"I have it myself. I was born with it," the system replied swiftly. "As for how I knew you'd use these powers, based on your earlier misuse of spatial power, I calculated a high chance of your death—around 70%. So, I decided to keep the powers. It turned out to be the right choice."
"Okay, you win," Noah said, half amused, half exasperated. His system really seemed to know him all too well.
Noah wasn't dying, but he certainly didn't have years to adapt to his new body.
As for using those powers...
Noah figured he'd definitely study them further, after all, they were high-dimensional powers!
Shaking his head, Noah understood the system's game.
He no longer harbored any mistrust. Without the system, he wouldn't have achieved nearly as much.
After all, it was the most fitting system for him, despite its oddities.
Finally, Noah sighed as he felt his body settle into its new form. The power enveloping him surged within him, and in an instant, he regained full control of his body.
This new body, much like his old one, felt seamless, without any discomfort or hindrance.
Most importantly, he felt the strength of his body intensify, even while in his blue empty state—it was terrifying!
