Marvel: Trading with Worlds

Chapter 138: C110(2)

If Kain remembers correctly, Howard and Erskine had likely left behind a copy of the super soldier serum, which had a major defect and had been frozen.

It seems that the success of the Extremis virus serum gave Ross hope, and he wanted to restart the project.

"I heard that your father was promoted to a higher position?"

Betty Ross, unlike Kain who is blind to the military world, shook her head and replied, "It's not that easy, but his power has grown, and he now have more political leverage for the future."

Unless a world war breaks out, it will be difficult for her father to advance further. The super soldier program is just his political bargaining chip, but it will give him more influence in the military moving forward.

Betty had now started her advanced studies in management, though she kept it a secret, which made her even busier. Since Kain interrupted her meeting with Bruce last time, she had only been able to contact Bruce by phone, and the calls were cut short after just a few minutes.

When they arrived at the biological research center, Betty informed Laura before they left. As the CEO of a biopharmaceutical company, Laura needed to be updated on the progress of the recovery serum.

The restoration serum was nearly complete and would be an early moneymaker for Kain's biopharmaceutical company.

This drug had broken through the boundaries of traditional treatments, so the approval process had been slightly altered. Kain had reported this two years ago, and recent breakthroughs, coupled with military orders, had accelerated the process of resuming the drug's market release.

In six months, the recovery potion would be available for public sale. By then, the military's first super soldier squad would be established.

General Ross and the relevant beneficiaries of the super soldier squad had promised to help Kain shorten the approval process for the serum.

After all, they were already using it, and there were more non-commissioned officers with broken limbs in the military.

The recovery medicine would be divided into several different procedures, but a treatment for regenerating a broken limb would cost at least $300,000.

The poor in America wouldn't be able to afford the curative effects of this potion for the time being. To spend an entire family's savings on a single arm was something Kain, with his benevolent nature, didn't want to see.

So, the initial batches of the potion would be distributed to the wealthy.

This market was huge, with the needs of hundreds of millions of people. Even if Kain's factory ran around the clock, it would only be able to supply 0.3% of the demand in the coming years.

For nearly half a day, Kain had been discussing with Laura, Betty, and others about resuming the marketing of the pharmaceuticals, establishing a pharmaceutical factory, and preparing for the press conference.

Kain felt that he could let go of many things. In a few months, the effect of the curse seal would continue to improve. Unless they were destroyed by outsiders, it would be impossible for them to betray him.

The Shadow Clone also communicated with Vanko and his son. The Ark reactor in Anton Vanko's hands was still the first generation. They planned to upgrade the reactor through at least a few more generations before they could announce it to the public.

"Too busy today, Miss Betty. Do you have any restaurant recommendations?"

"Go to Brook Grove; there's a good restaurant there."

Betty Ross opened the car door and continued speaking to Kain, "You didn't say a word today, my boss."

"Listening is physical work, Betty."

After the two got into the car, they discussed the location with Paul and then talked about other things. Betty, about U-GIN laboratory, had already gathered their information.

However, there was backing behind this laboratory, and they were aiming to acquire the lab, which posed a bit of a problem.

After a while, Paul dropped Kain and Betty off at the restaurant. He would wait outside until they finished their meal and then take them home before he could rest.

"Let me have some. You haven't been here before, so you can try my recommendation."

After Betty finished speaking to Kain, she began to order food. She knew Kain had a large appetite, so she ordered a lot of food, which would be served in batches.

The restaurant's service was quick, and within a short time, the dishes they ordered were brought to their table. Kain hadn't eaten much good food in the Harry Potter world, mostly relying on the food they carried in their space backpacks.

The house-elves at Hogwarts made delicious food, though.

After tasting a few dishes, Kain praised, "The meals here are really good. It seems you've been here many times."

"The last time you called me back, I didn't get to taste it. This time, I'm trying all the dishes."

Before Betty could finish speaking, a person suddenly appeared beside her. When she looked up, she panicked.

"Bruce?"

Bruce looked puzzled and asked, "Betty, you said you were working. Why are you here? And who is he?"

"He's my boss. We just got off work, so we came here for dinner. Bruce, why are you here?"

Betty was a little incoherent. She didn't expect to run into Bruce here. University was still some distance away—why had Bruce come here?

"Off work? Betty, are you coming back later? I remember you said you would take a few days off recently. My colleagues and I had dinner nearby, and it just ended."

The more Bruce Banner looked at Kain, the more awkward and uncomfortable he felt. Kain's appearance was so striking that Bruce felt a sense of crisis.

He wanted to trust Betty, but the sense of unease in his chest was like a thorn.

"Maybe. I'll work overtime. Bruce, don't wait for me. You can rest first."

Betty lowered her head slightly, cutting the last steak on her plate into several small pieces.

Seeing his girlfriend looking so beautiful and working overtime, Bruce continued to persuade, "Betty, it's already late today..."

"Bruce, I really have something to do."

Since she had subconsciously rejected him just now, Betty felt that it was better to reject him fully.

Bruce Banner felt a pang in his heart and left the restaurant without saying another word.

After a while, when they had finished eating, Kain got up and said to Betty, "Let's go, Betty. I'll go to work with you."
