Chapter 54: Chapter Fifty-four.

~~~Third Person, Asgard~~~
~~~February 20, 1943~~~

Asgard, a place of legends, myths, and fables that thousands of people on Earth believed in, was dull, without the color of life and festivity that were common to see in its streets, gardens, halls, or bars. Instead, warriors, civilians, and others walked with their eyes fixed in front. They even walked with a delicacy unbecoming of them, as if the mere noise bothered them.

The glorious battles taking place in the coliseums were halted, the bars were not filled as before, and the bards and singers chose not to sing, so had Asgard remained since Odin, Thor, and his party, as well as the soldiers who went to Midgard, returned defeated.

For that was what had happened...a defeat without equal.

For Asgard, a realm composed of a warlike people of warriors, a defeat meant a hard blow, more so if their king, their god, had fallen into his deep sleep because of this. Things were not going well, Odin had fallen into a deep sleep, because of the wounds that extended from his body, the Warden's blow had left him wounded, more than he had thought could happen.

Thor, the crown prince, had taken up the mantle of king of Asgard while his father recovered, and in a surprising twist of fate, he had put aside for the first time in his life, beer, parties, and fighting, instead, he immersed himself in being a good replacement for his father while he recovered and awoke.

Running through his head were the moments he experienced in Midgard, in how he let his temper speak for him, and thus went into battle against someone far more dangerous than he seemed, and thanks to that, his father was sick.

"Son," a soft voice reached Thor's ears, which caused him to look in the direction of the voice, to see his mother looking at him with a loving and concerned look, "hello mother," he replied, Thor was sitting on the throne of Asgard, with his right elbow resting on the arm of the throne, and his jaw resting on his hand.

He did not look like a king but like a scolded child... A worried child. "Your father is still stable, sleeping has done him good, even his skin looks smoother, don't tell him when he wakes up, but I'm envious of that," Frigga said with a chuckle, though the smile on her face didn't reach her eyes.

Seeing that her son did not react as she hoped he would, her smile faded, instead, she walked over to Thor and took her son's face in her hands, "You know it's not your fault, right?" Frigga said softly, with enormous love overflowing from her eyes, "Your father has slept many times, this is not the first time, and it certainly won't be the last."

Thor's eyes closed tightly, and when he opened them, a single emotion could be seen in his gaze, the anger was pure, but it was not directed at his mother, no... It was directed at himself. "No, it's not the first time, but it's the first time it's happened because of me, he warned me, several times, that my temper would be the cause of many problems, and I... I didn't listen to him, and look at us now, the Nine... No, the Eight Realms are in open rebellion due to Father being asleep, this is the longest one yet, and in the Eight Realms they know it's time to act, while I try to keep everything in order."

Thor then ran his hand over his face, looking exasperated: "And I can't do it alone. I still need my father. I didn't see it that way before, but now I see the truth, and I know I must change." Frigga looked at Thor with a beaming smile and a proud expression: "Then you are ready to know the truth. It is time."

Thor looked at his mother confused, not understanding what this was all about, "what do you mean?" he asked, looking at his mother intently, "the full history of Asgard, in how this Empire was forged, the involvement of this, and what Asgard is facing right now, I was hoping your father would be the one to tell you, but as you know, he can't now."

"The first thing you need to keep in mind is that Ragnarök is real, it is not just a story to tell at night to children before bed, nor something to tell as a joke, it is real and it is waiting," Frigga's words caused Thor to be startled, and lightning began to crackle between his hands, "but do not be alarmed, son, Ragnarök is a natural thing for Asgard, it is important to us, to your father, to you, to everyone," Frigga told him before it started to get out of hand.

"So, what does this mean for Asgard?" Thor asked once he managed to calm down, something he had been accomplishing more often... Controlling his emotions better.

"I know you know they say that Ragnarök is the prophesying of the destruction of Asgard, the death of our race and the end of everything we know, but while death is one way, that is not the whole truth," Frigga looked at Thor carefully, thinking if it was a good idea to continue, but in the end, she decided to do so, it was time for her son to be knowledgeable about things, maybe then he could become more responsible with things.

"Ragnarök is a cycle, a cycle that happens every thousand years, of death and rebirth for Asgard, along with the Nine Realms, your grandfather's great-grandfather created this cycle, made under an agreement with the entity Eternity, so that our race and everyone who believed in us obtained immortality, only with a price, and that is Ragnarök."

Frigga looked intently at Thor to see if he was keeping up, and seeing his steely attention, continued; "Your grandfather's great-grandfather agreed to that, and with the energy from the destruction of Asgard helping to bring life into the universe, and at the same time contributing to the expansion of it, Asgard can return in a perpetual cycle, even stronger than before, or well... At least it was like that."

"Was? " Thor realized the key question in all this and was quick to ask, "Yes, it was, the problem came with the arrival of this being called Kang, your father says he came to this universe thousands of years ago, he possesses great power, even managing to divert the course of the Ragnarök process, using the remaining energy to power his realm in the quantum realm, the danger of all this is not that he is using the remaining energy, but now he is even advancing the process, and hoarding all the energy for himself, this is causing that with each Ragnarök, Asgard is weaker and weaker, do you understand that? "

"So Father, the reason He is more and more in deep sleep is because of this, is the defeat in Midgard because of this?" Thor asked, angry, "Well, not entirely, but largely yes, this... Kang is dangerous, you know what he can accomplish, and it is time we changed things, you need a new weapon."

This caught Thor off guard, looking at his mother as if she was crazy, as he gripped Mjölnir's handle tighter, "What, no, this way I'm fine, Mjölnir has been with me in a thousand battles, he's a very good friend, I won't just leave him just like that."

"You don't understand son, Mjölnir will not favor you like you expect him to, you are not the God of Hammers, are you? " Frigga took Thor's hand carefully, knowing it would be difficult for him to part with the weapon that had accompanied him for years, "you are the God of Thunder, and Mjölnir is now a crutch for you, you need a weapon that makes you use your power yourself, not that the weapon serves as a conduit for it, besides, Mjölnir has an owner, and it is not you."

"Wait, what?" now Thor was more than surprised, he was confused and in denial about it, "yes," Frigga sighed, and tears began to form in her eyes, "Mjölnir has an owner, it belongs to your father's firstborn, the heir to the throne of Asgard, or so it was before your father banished it and locked it away in Hell."

Thor stood with his mouth open and his eyes wide, not accepting what his mother had told him, "No... You have to be lying... That's not true... Father couldn't." Thor said between cuts, but was stopped by Frigga forcefully, "Behave yourself! You have a sister, her name is Hela, and she is the Goddess of Death, she was the one who forged Asgard as you know it, she helped your father create this Empire, but your father has never known how to raise his child, and when Hela showed more ambition than him, instead of guiding her on the right path, he decided to get rid of her." Thor was silent as he heard his mother's cold tone, one he had never heard before.

Frigga then sighed and again adopted a smile on her face; "So if you want to grow up and be able to face Kang in the future, you must get her out of where your father locked her up, she is your sister, and even though it's been years, I know that Asgard is still important to her."

"But, I don't know how to do that, I don't even know where the hell is to begin with." Thor said frustrated, to which Frigga simply smiled mischievously, "But your brother Loki knows, don't you son?" Thor frowned as the figure of Loki appeared sitting in an armchair, and despite being discovered, he showed nothing but a mischievous smile on his face, "of course, Mother, and I will gladly help my little brother, so we can be the Nine Realms again, what do you say?"

Thor laughed, "You're an idiot."
