Mike had eliminated Jason, but he sent Jason's soul to Mephisto, the one with whom Jason had made a pact. Mephisto infused part of his power into Jason's soul, using Jason's body as a vessel to revive himself in the form of a clone.
In other words, the Mephisto before Mike was merely a clone of the true Hell Lord, Mephisto.
Yet, even as a clone, the power Mephisto displayed was terrifying.
Boom!
In the face of the sea of flowers, Mephisto charged forward with a savage momentum.
Pink 'waves' splashed as the flying blades, under Mike's control, formed a deadly river of pink that surged toward Mephisto, sending him flying backward.
Mephisto crashed to the ground, his legs moving rapidly. Each step left deep cracks in the earth, but the pink river of blades relentlessly pursued him.
He turned and struck with powerful punches, momentarily halting the flow of the pink river.
Heh!
With a light grunt, the pink petals in the air quickly began to gather, forming chains that wrapped around Mephisto from all sides, binding him tightly as they began to cut into him.
Boom!
A sudden explosion of magic erupted from Mephisto, sending a shockwave that scattered all the petals around him.
Watching as Mephisto's wounds rapidly healed, Mike's eyes twitched. Without hesitation, he reached for a new card.
The previous manifestation of Senbonzakura had expired.
Although he could barely sustain Bankai, its power had diminished significantly, and the duration... well, that was another issue.
But at this point, only Bankai could defend against Mephisto. It would burn through a lot of his reserves.
Muttering to himself, Mike again manifested a new Senbonzakura. Just as the pink blades began to disappear from the air, and he was about to recite the release incantation, a spinning golden portal appeared before him.
Mike froze for a moment. This scene felt strangely familiar...
Mephisto also halted in place, giving Mike a resigned smile. "It seems I got a bit carried away this time, using too much magic. Now, this troublesome being has noticed us."
He glanced reluctantly at the golden portal on the other side.
This time, he had lost.
Not only had he wasted the energy of a clone, but he had also lost Jason, his tool, and failed to claim the collection he had been eyeing...
"A troublesome being?"
A cool voice accompanied the appearance of a figure dressed in yellow robes.
*The Ancient One!*
Mike's heart skipped a beat, and he took two steps back.
First, it had been the Black King and Mr. Fear, and now it was the Ancient One and Mephisto…
He was just a farmer, for heaven's sake! Why did he always keep running into these big shots?
Mike sighed in exasperation.
If only they'd wait twenty more years!
He glanced back at the tent behind him.
No matter what happened, he had steadfastly stood in front of the tent, protecting the three children.
The Ancient One looked at Mephisto. "Will you leave on your own, or do you want me to send you?"
Mephisto raised his hands in surrender, about to speak and gracefully retreat, when the Ancient One instantly appeared before him, her right hand glowing with golden energy. She pressed it against his face.
Boom!
A flash of golden light erupted, quickly enveloping Mephisto's towering form. The energy shattered silently, dissipating into a golden mist that vanished without a trace.
Mike's eyes narrowed.
So this is the Ancient One...
The Ancient One turned to Mike, her clear gaze filled with approval. She glanced at Mike and the tent behind him, then nodded toward Mike.
"See you again."
With those words, the Ancient One stepped into the portal, which spun and faded from view.
See you again?
Mike furrowed his brows, then let out a relieved sigh.
No matter what, it was over...
The events of today had been sudden, and just as sudden, they were over, like an inexplicable gust of wind.
What in the world was all that about?
To encounter such troublesome things while on vacation... it was just unbelievable...
Sigh!
Mike sighed again, but as he turned around, he quickly put on a smile and walked toward the tent.
He opened the tent, and the three little ones rushed into his arms, hugging him tightly.
Mike embraced the three of them and reassured them, "It's all right now."
"Dad, you're amazing!"
Eric gazed at Mike, his eyes shining with admiration.
Charles nodded furiously.
Clark, on the other hand, let out a soft chuckle.
Mike gave the three of them a stern look. "You can't tell anyone about what happened, understand?"
The three boys immediately straightened up and nodded solemnly.
Mike patted each of their heads and said, "Wait for me a moment."
He stood up and walked over to Coulson, confirming that he was only asleep, then returned to the tent with the children and said, "Time to sleep!"
Blending in was the only way to stay hidden; disappearing like this would only draw attention.
The commotion at the campsite had been too much, and the police arrived soon after.
Then...
They stared blankly at the many people lying unconscious on the ground and the several bodies scattered about.
What was going on here?
Confused, they began waking the unconscious individuals one by one. The night passed in a flurry of activity as they collected evidence, took statements, and ultimately received the same answer from everyone.
The killer was Jason, the revived serial killer. As for how everyone had fallen asleep, they had no idea.
"Revived serial killer? What kind of joke is this?"
A young officer shouted, his eyes scanning the crowd. "The killer must be among these people!"
Noticing the fear on the faces of the older officers, the young officer asked, puzzled, "You don't actually believe such an absurd story, do you?"
This was the first major case he'd encountered, and if he solved it...
An older officer, with a scar across his face, sighed deeply. "If it weren't true, would so many people be covering for the killer?"
The young officer's eyes flickered, and he raised his voice. "Maybe they're all the killers!"
Immediately, all the officers turned their gaze on him.
Only mockery and sarcasm reflected in their eyes.
The old officer patted the young man's shoulder and whispered in his ear, "Do you think I got this scar for nothing?"
The young officer looked at him in shock.
The older officer nodded, turning to the others. "Let them go. They're no longer involved."
Soon, the special department personnel would arrive, and by then, it would no longer be their responsibility.
The older officer muttered to himself.
After bidding farewell to Coulson and the children, Mike picked up his car from the repair shop and left the small town.
Just as he was leaving, he saw several cars pass by, entering the town.
"SHIELD? They sure move fast."
Mike muttered as he glanced at the markings on the cars before shifting his gaze away.
This was the end of their trip.
But Mike didn't plan to return the same way. Instead, he chose a different route for the return journey, deciding to enjoy the ride back.
As he looked at his three groggy brothers, who had barely slept the night before, Mike smiled gently and continued on his way.
