Chapter 4: Chapter 4
Chapter 4: Burnina's Delicious Burger
As time passed, Luke and Peter Parker became best friends. They went to school together, came home together, and spent most of their free time hanging out. Since then, the four bullies had been keeping their distance from Luke, avoiding him altogether.
One day, Peter came over to Luke's house to hang out. That was when they realized just how close their homes actually were.
"Hey, Peter! How are you?" Luke's adoptive mother, Karen, greeted him warmly when she saw him standing at the door.
"Good afternoon, Mrs. Nelson. I'm fine," Peter replied politely. "I'm here to see Luke."
"Come on in, sweetheart. Luke's upstairs waiting for you." Karen smiled and stepped aside to let him in.
"Okay, Mrs. Nelson. See you later." Peter grinned as he stepped inside. He ran into Luke's adoptive father, Fudge Nelson, in the hallway and greeted him just as politely. "Good afternoon, Mr. Nelson."
Karen watched Peter head upstairs before turning to her husband, holding his arm with a smile. "I'm really glad Luke made a friend so quickly. I was worried that he wouldn't adapt to the new environment. Psychologists say adopted children tend to become withdrawn."
"Don't worry, honey," Fudge said reassuringly. "Luke is one of the smartest kids I've ever met. He knows how to adjust. When he grows up, he's going to make us proud."
"I believe that too," Karen said, smiling warmly.
"By the way, Matt is coming over soon," Fudge added with a grin.
"Are you staying for dinner?"
"I don't think so. We're just discussing some work stuff. It won't take long."
"Of course."
Upstairs, Peter walked into Luke's room and found him tinkering with a bunch of odd-looking things. Curious, Peter watched him for a while before asking, "Hey, man, what are you doing?"
Luke glanced up, grinned, and said, "I'm raising funds."
"Raising... funds?" Peter frowned. "You planning on buying something?"
"That's a secret for now," Luke said mysteriously. "You'll find out in a few days."
Peter, full of curiosity, stared at everything Luke was working on.
Luke had gathered a pile of small gadgets, including remote-controlled toy cars, model figures, and collectible cards. The most valuable item in the bunch was a PSP console and a limited-edition Disney commemorative coin.
All of these were gifts from his adoptive parents—Christmas presents, birthday gifts, and New Year surprises.
Now, Luke was planning to sell them all and use the money as startup capital for his next move.
He didn't really need any of these things. It made more sense to trade them for something useful.
Based on his calculations, he estimated he could make around $300 to $350 from selling everything. His PSP was in almost brand-new condition since he had barely touched it.
As Peter leaned against the window, he glanced downstairs and suddenly said, "Looks like you've got a guest. Some guy just showed up."
"A guy?"
Luke didn't even need to guess. There were only a handful of people who ever visited his adoptive parents. If it was a man, it could only be one person.
"Wait here. I'll be back soon," Luke said, tossing the PSP to Peter.
"No problem," Peter replied, catching it easily.
Luke headed downstairs and, as expected, saw who it was.
Sitting on the couch in the living room was none other than Matt Murdock.
"Hey, is that Luke?" The young man wearing black sunglasses turned his head slightly when he heard footsteps approaching. Though he appeared blind, his expression carried a knowing smile.
Fudge was sitting across from Matt, looking at Luke with amusement.
Luke looked at the so-called blind lawyer and thought to himself, Yeah, just keep pretending.
"Good evening, Mr. Murdock."
"Just call me Matt," the man said with a grin.
"Alright, Matt. Want something to drink? I'll grab some water for Karen too."
Luke walked into the kitchen, playing the perfect host.
When he first found out that his adoptive father worked alongside the legendary Daredevil, he was shocked. What were the chances?
Regardless, Daredevil was one of the most respectable heroes in Marvel's world. He didn't have the flashy powers of Iron Man or Thor, but he was one of the most grounded heroes, dedicated to protecting the weak and fighting crime.
Blinded as a child in a chemical accident, Daredevil's remaining senses had heightened to extraordinary levels. He could perceive his surroundings like a bat using sound waves, earning him the title of "Human Radar." His hyper-enhanced sense of touch granted him incredible agility and reflexes, allowing him to develop top-tier combat skills.
After his father was murdered by gangsters, Daredevil swore to fight for the innocent and bring justice to the corrupt streets of New York—especially Hell's Kitchen, his home turf.
The notorious Kingpin considered Daredevil a major thorn in his side. Yet, by day, the vigilante blended seamlessly into society as a humble blind lawyer.
From Matt's perspective, Luke was a polite, well-mannered child. He had learned about Luke's story through Fudge and Karen and had quickly taken a liking to him.
Of course, that was no coincidence—Luke had worked hard to leave a good impression.
Just then, a notification from the system flashed in Luke's mind:
Matt Murdock's favorability +3.
Luke couldn't help but smirk.
Fudge reached out and ruffled Luke's hair with a smile. "Alright, Luke. Matt and I have some work to discuss. Go have fun."
"Okay, Fudge." Luke had accomplished what he came for, so he obediently headed back upstairs.
Back in his room, he resumed planning his money-making strategy. He desperately needed cash to open more magic boxes.
Recently, he had saved up enough for another ten-pull draw. Unfortunately, instead of a skill book, he received something unexpected:
"Burnina's Delicious Burger Recipe."
It was a recipe for making the most mouthwatering burger.
That got him thinking—could he use this to make money?
Gathering startup funds was just the first step. Next, he needed Peter Parker's help. As a seven-year-old, there were a lot of things he couldn't do on his own. Having an extra pair of hands would make things much easier.
Turning to Peter, who was still playing with the PSP, Luke casually asked, "Hey, man. You said your Uncle Ben had an RV, right?"
"Yeah, a big one. White," Peter replied.
"The color doesn't matter," Luke said, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "Can you help me borrow it?"
