Chapter 276: MD-Chapter 274 Lifelong Career?

The room was enveloped in a heavy silence, and Arthur felt just as quiet.

Only Natasha's slightly labored breathing broke the stillness, creating a rhythm that filled the space.

In that moment, Arthur felt like an ordinary person stranded on a deserted island. Without the wings of the raven god, he felt weak and powerless, unsure of what to do next.

He longed for an escape, but there was nowhere to run.

He thought about creating something on this island, but he didn't know where to begin and couldn't bring himself to abandon the vibrant civilization on the mainland.

For a fleeting moment, he felt utterly lost.

His mind raced with chaotic thoughts, occasionally tempting him to simply push her aside, step onto the teleportation circle, and vanish without a trace.

But then he hesitated, realizing that would be too cruel.

After all, she was peacefully sleeping on his lap, and nothing else had happened.

"Still… something feels off," Arthur sighed deeply, wishing he could post a question online to the experts: 'When a stunning woman, full of life, lies defenselessly on your lap and falls asleep, what should you do? Should you act like a beast, or is that even worse?'

Arthur sometimes thought that a man's greatest tragedy might be his inability to control his impulses, with actions often preceding rational thought and the consequences always unbearable.

He didn't want to be that kind of man.

So, he had no intention of doing anything reckless. Even if others didn't care, he did.

When faced with the consequences of his actions, he knew he had to control himself, even if it meant gritting his teeth and resisting the urge to unbuckle his belt.

Because of this, he found the current situation increasingly difficult to navigate.

Looking at the sleeping Natasha, Arthur couldn't help but sigh.

Honestly, such a beautiful girl constantly sending him flirtatious glances… no, it wasn't even subtle; it was outright and bold flirting.

As a man, Arthur's ego was certainly flattered.

But at the same time, it was overwhelming. He never knew what this woman was truly thinking.

What were her feelings and opinions about him?

What kind of expectations did she have for the future?

Perhaps he should just take it easy. Life could still be charming and wonderful.

But this kind of situation… he had never really experienced before.

Lacking the necessary experience and the means to deal with it, to put it simply— he was too inexperienced!

"Not professional at all!"

Arthur felt that his specialty might just be making witty remarks, occasionally playing the role of a superhero, but now he was expected to moonlight as a romance expert. This was really too much for him.

After thinking it over and over, unable to find any solution, he eventually drifted off to sleep.

After all, pondering such things was mentally exhausting.

When awake, a person could control their actions, but when asleep, they were at the mercy of their desires.

However, Arthur didn't know if, in his sleep, he had done anything he couldn't control. When he opened his eyes, Natasha was already awake.

She was in the kitchen, busy with clanging noises, interspersed with her loud calls.

Clearly, she, like Arthur, wasn't very skilled at some things.

Stepping outside the kitchen, Arthur recalled Lily's extraordinary cooking skills, and in that moment, he couldn't help but feel a bit guilty, as though he had done something wrong.

He glanced down at his pants, relieved to see they had remained firmly in place since last night, and let out a small sigh of relief.

Natasha, on the other hand, was intently focused on the steak in the pan.

When it was still red and white with patterns, her gaze was deeply concentrated. Now, as it darkened and began to smoke, she coughed, tears streaming down her face, but still persisted in watching it— her eyes seemingly willing the steak to become tender and delicious.

In contrast, the size of the fire, whether bigger or smaller, was likely just external factors.

After Arthur let out a sigh of relief, he couldn't help but laugh. He was sure that if things continued like this, there would undoubtedly be a catastrophic fire in the kitchen, so he quickly spoke up, "If you're hungry, we can order takeout."

"You're awake?"

Natasha turned her head, looking at Arthur, her face flushing red. She glanced at the steak in the pan, feeling more embarrassed, and said, "I was planning to wait until you woke up so we could eat right away."

This posture... Arthur dared not look too much, so he quickly changed the subject, "I remember bringing pizza yesterday."

"We already had it as a midnight snack last night and finished it," Natasha blinked and said. "Did you forget something important after taking a nap? For example..."

"... For example, can you tell me the takeout number?" Arthur asked, his face darkening. Had he really said three sentences? Was she making seducing him her lifelong career?

"Ugh..." Natasha sighed helplessly, a rare sight on her face. She drooped her head and said, "On the wall."

Arthur pressed his hand to his chest, changed clothes, and transformed his appearance before picking up the phone and ordering some fast food.

The kitchen was filled with thick smoke, clearly unsuitable for staying any longer. The range hood couldn't handle such a large workload, so he opened the window to let out the black smoke.

Arthur was still a little concerned—would the thick smoke make the well-meaning citizens think there was a fire? What if the fire department came rushing in and sprayed water inside through the window? He might not be able to handle that.

It turned out this was just Arthur's imagination.

The situation was simple and straightforward after that. The takeout arrived, and Arthur and Natasha had a quick bite, bringing their meeting to a smooth end.

Arthur bid a sincere farewell, and Natasha regained her usual impressive self.

Her ever-changing appearance made Arthur feel as though everything that had happened last night and today was like a fantasy dream—it couldn't possibly be real.

What was real, however, was Bucky's hunger!

He was almost starving!

When Arthur returned to the base, he realized this and immediately prepared food for Bucky.

Today, Bucky seemed a bit different from yesterday. Arthur sat outside as usual, while Bucky sat inside, eating food that was hard to swallow but still maintained a calm expression.

After a long silence, Bucky finally asked, "Did I really know you before?"

Arthur's heart stirred, and he nodded, saying, "Of course, you know me."

"It seems... I remember some... images," Bucky murmured.
