Chapter 211 : Spider-Man Doesn't Lie to Spider-Man
Miles looked at Alex Ray with a mixture of surprise and gratitude. He hadn't expected to see Mr. Ray here. What surprised him even more was that one of the Spider-Men standing behind Alex was the Tobey Maguire version—someone known to have broken a canon event.
And yet, Alex Ray had spoken up for him. That deeply moved Miles. Of everyone present, only Alex had dared to speak on his behalf.
As soon as the other Spider-Men heard Miguel call the man in front of them "Alex Ray," the previously quiet atmosphere shifted into a buzz of whispers.
"Who is this guy? He just asked the boss to give him face?"
"I've heard about him. That's Alex Ray—the one who saved the family members of Spider-Men from other universes! People say he's the incarnation of hell, the boss of Hell's Kitchen."
"So this is the legendary Alex Ray? I heard he saved Uncle Ben and Captain Stacy!"
"Hell's Kitchen? Isn't that Kingpin's turf?"
"What's so special about Hell's Kitchen? Isn't that basically Spider-Man's noob zone?"
"I thought he was some top-tier powerhouse, but he looks like a regular guy."
"I mean… he is kinda handsome, and that attitude's pretty badass."
"Why was he allowed to save Uncle Ben's world without it collapsing? And why didn't Miguel go after him? That's totally a double standard!"
"I envy those Spider-Men. None of their loved ones died. If only I had met Alex Ray earlier."
"How does he have the nerve to show up here so brazenly? Isn't he afraid Miguel will beat him down?"
"I heard from a reliable source that Miguel couldn't beat him. My neighbor told me. Not that I'd spread rumors…"
"For real? Miguel lost to this guy? Damn… maybe Alex Ray's actually insanely strong."
"Come on, aren't all your relatives already dead? Should I come visit you in your dreams to explain it? We're all Spider-Men here."
"No cap! Spider-Man doesn't lie to Spider-Man."
The entire room buzzed with noise at Alex Ray's appearance, giving Miguel a splitting headache.
After all, almost every Spider-Man was a chatterbox—and what made it worse was that Alex had just asked him to let Miles go. That was a huge challenge for Miguel. He needed to maintain authority while also protecting the stability of the multiverse.
Punk Spider-Man, however, was watching with particular interest. He stared at Alex like he saw something special—something familiar.
This was his first time seeing Alex Ray in person. He hadn't expected someone who would dare to challenge Miguel's authority.
It made him feel like Alex might be just like him: someone who refuses to be shackled by fate.
Gwen was also stunned to see Alex Ray again. Deep down, she didn't want Miles to lose his father. But she was still a newcomer to the Spider-Society, and she didn't have much say.
She had seen firsthand that disrupting canon events could lead to the collapse of entire universes. She lacked the strength to stop that from happening.
But she had also seen with her own eyes that Alex Ray had saved Captain George Stacy—and that universe didn't fall apart.
That meant Alex had a way. He had to.
Andrew Garfield's Peter scanned the crowd curiously. So many Spider-Men surrounded him, and he was immensely grateful to Mr. Ray for bringing him here. His world had grown much bigger.
He was especially touched to hear that so many of the other Spider-Men already knew about Alex Ray. He hadn't realized just how far Alex's reputation reached.
Tobey Maguire's Peter, however, kept his expression calm. As Alex Ray's official disciple, he was very aware that his behavior represented his master's image. He couldn't afford to act like an awestruck tourist.
But when he heard so many Spider-Men praising Alex Ray, pride swelled in his chest. He stood taller, because he was Alex Ray's first and foremost student.
Then Miguel shouted, "Quiet!"
The entire chamber fell into immediate silence.
Every Spider-Man stopped mid-conversation, all turning to look at Miguel.
Miles also felt the shift. The mood had changed. Even though most of the Spider-Men wore masks, Miles could feel it clearly—
Since Alex Ray's arrival, there was a light in their eyes. A light called hope.
Miguel's gaze darkened.
He hadn't decided whether to let Alex Ray bear the burden of Spider-Man's responsibilities.
After all, this was no small matter—it involved the lives of countless people across infinite worlds. He couldn't gamble everything on someone he didn't fully understand.
Right now, his top priority was to subdue Miles. Miguel planned to exclude Alex from the decision-making circle by using the excuse that Alex wasn't a Spider-Man.
He turned toward Alex in silence, assuming that Alex would just let it go.
Little did he know—Alex Ray wasn't contemplating politics.
He was debating whether he should shoot spider silk from his hands.
After all, he had three Spider-Man companions nearby. Of course he could replicate their powers.
Pretending to be Spider-Man was easy. The only problem was… shooting spider silk from your palms was kinda gross.
He hesitated for a moment—then finally extended his hand. Spider silk shot out.
"Who said I'm not Spider-Man?" Alex asked.
And then he fired several more webs—directly at Miguel.
Gasps echoed through the crowd. Even Miguel froze.
No one had expected this.
Miguel, the Spider-Man expert himself, was certain: there was no Spider-Man named Alex Ray in the multiverse. This broke every rule he knew.
The whispers began again.
"Holy crap. Alex Ray's a Spider-Man too? No wonder he's so devoted to helping us."
"Wait, what's his Spider-Man name? Anyone know?"
"Just because he can shoot webs doesn't mean he's one of us. It's all about the suit. No suit, no respect."
Miguel, still trying to regain control, sneered and said, "Exactly. The suit is the essence of Spider-Man. Web-shooting alone doesn't make you one."
Seeing his master being talked down to, Tobey's Peter nearly stepped forward to defend him—but Alex raised a hand to stop him.
"So let me get this straight," Alex said, voice calm. "Owning a Spider-Man suit makes someone Spider-Man?"
