Chapter 204 : Returning to their respective universes
The battle on Harry's side had ended. Alex Ray, the three Spider-Men, and Tony stood together, chatting casually.
At that moment, Harry approached, supporting Norman Osborn—the Green Goblin. But this wasn't the vicious version of the man they once knew. He had returned to his original, kind-hearted Osborn persona.
Alex glanced at Norman and noticed the bruises on his face. Clearly, Harry hadn't held back while trying to regain control of his father's fractured psyche. Perhaps it had been a way to vent his rage—after all, in Harry's original universe, the Green Goblin had killed him.
Though Osborn looked battered and worn, his eyes were calm, filled with relief and gratitude.
It was a shame Harry wasn't carrying Kamen Rider Eternal's transformation device. If he had, this would've looked like a textbook scene of a loving father and dutiful son.
"Thank you, Mr. Alex Ray," Osborn said sincerely, his eyes locked onto Alex. "Your guidance was invaluable to Harry. Because of you, he found his way back and stood tall again."
Alex offered a modest smile, shaking his head. "I didn't do much," he said calmly. "It was all Harry—his strength, his persistence."
All Alex had done was hand Harry a driver. The ones who truly stood by Harry during his darkest moments were Deadpool and Peter.
Even though this Norman Osborn wasn't from Harry's original universe, their fates were shockingly aligned.
In Osborn's home universe, Harry had suffered immense tragedy in his youth—ultimately dying at the hands of the Green Goblin. But now, thanks to Alex's intervention, Harry had dodged that cruel fate.
On their way here, Harry had shared quite a bit with Osborn—his current situation, his companions. He was no longer the lonely, angry boy. Now, he had real friends and comrades. Though the Harry of that universe had lost his father, he'd found strength in people like Alex, Peter, and his mentor, Deadpool.
Osborn knew all this. He knew Alex had saved Harry. Even the neural suppression helmet that stabilized his psyche had been designed with Alex's help.
Harry had also shared a piece of good news: with Alex's assistance, the Osborn family curse—none of them living past the age of fifty—had finally been broken. That shadow no longer loomed over his future.
For Osborn, Alex Ray's arrival was a miracle. It had brought hope and light into Harry's once-dark world.
But no words could fully express his gratitude.
"If you ever come to my universe," Osborn said seriously, "don't hesitate to ask me for anything—even if it costs me my life."
His promise wasn't mere sentiment. It carried weight, depth, and unwavering respect.
Osborn understood the harsh truth: he and Harry were from two different universes. After this separation, there was no telling if they'd ever meet again.
But knowing his son in another world was living well—that he had strong friends and a new path—was more than enough for him.
His only regret was not knowing if he'd ever see Harry again in this lifetime.
Alex nodded silently, absorbing Osborn's words. He said nothing more—this was a father's final wish.
Norman then turned to Tobey's Peter, expressing his heartfelt thanks. After all, that Peter had been Harry's only true friend for most of his life.
Just then, Alex saw a prompt flash across his system interface:
Ding!
Congratulations, host: Norman Osborn has successfully added you as a friend.
Norman Osborn's favorability level has reached two stars.
…
Congratulations, host: Norman Osborn's favorability level has reached full stars.
Norman Osborn has become a family member.
Alex blinked in surprise. He hadn't expected someone like Norman Osborn—a corporate mogul and former villain—to so easily consider him a friend. But then, it made sense.
Osborn had reclaimed control of his mind. He had seen firsthand that Harry was alive and thriving in another universe—and stronger than ever. Defeating the Green Goblin had only made that strength more tangible.
Right now, Osborn wasn't acting as a businessman.
He was just a father.
Watching Tobey's Peter, Harry, and Osborn embracing tightly in the distance, Alex couldn't help but shudder slightly.
Too much emotion. Too much intensity.
Even though he knew it wasn't anything strange, the scene was… uncomfortably passionate.
Tobey's Peter might not have a girlfriend anymore, but he had something just as valuable—a brother in Harry. Compared to the other Spider-Men, it was like divine compensation.
It was then that Doctor Strange cut in, breaking the emotional atmosphere.
"Alright, everyone," he said, folding his arms. "I hate to interrupt, but we're running out of time. I need to send you all back to your respective universes."
The three Spider-Men exchanged glances, the realization hitting them. This was it—the end of the line.
They hugged each other tightly, reluctant to part, but fully understanding the necessity of it.
Gwen and MJ embraced as well. As Spider-Man's partners, they knew what sacrifice looked like. They knew the price of these decisions.
Harry looked longingly at his father. The deep bond between them—shaped by pain, repaired by fate—was now fully evident.
On the sidelines, Tony Stark stood facing Alex. There was hesitation in his eyes, as if he wanted to stall for more time.
Finally, he handed Alex a sleek suitcase.
"I lost this time," Tony admitted. "This is a dimensional communicator. It lets you talk across universes. You asked me to build it before, remember? Well, here it is—your prize. The blueprints are inside too. When you get back, hand them to your universe's version of me."
Alex accepted the suitcase, deeply moved.
This communicator was based on Tony's reverse-engineering of the dimensional watch. It couldn't transport someone across universes just yet, but real-time communication? That part was ready.
Alex couldn't help but admire the man's genius.
At that moment, Strange opened the mystic containment box and pressed the activation rune.
Brilliant light flared from the spell matrix. Alex and the others began to fade, their bodies becoming increasingly transparent.
"Goodbye, everyone," Alex said softly.
"Thank you for everything!" Tom Holland's Peter shouted, waving both hands.
"We'll meet again, Alex Ray," Doctor Strange called out, his gaze steady.
The light flared one final time—then vanished.
Alex and the rest were gone.
They had returned to their own universes. To their own stories.
