Chapter 37: Chapter 37: The Fusion of Multiverses

A flashbang exploded, its deafening noise and blinding white light instantly robbing Natasha of her sight and hearing—after all, she was the closest to the blast.

Seconds after the detonation, the door of the small shop was forcefully pushed open. Several figures rushed in methodically, only to pause at the scene before them.

The only person affected by the flashbang was Natasha. The intruders, upon entering, found Han Yu, Quicksilver, and Ultron staring at them intently, creating an awkward standoff.

The three intruders shared a distinct appearance: hooded cloaks and long swords strapped to their backs, resembling ninjas.

This particular look triggered a memory in Han Yu's mind: The League of Assassins!

"Could it be that people and things from other universes are merging into this one?" Han Yu murmured internally. The League of Assassins didn't belong to the Marvel Universe; it originated in the DC Universe—the same universe as Batman and Superman.

The League of Assassins was a powerful organization comparable to Marvel's Hydra, with influence spanning the globe. Its members were characterized by their hooded masks and their use of bows or swords. Now, these intruders looked eerily similar to what Han Yu remembered.

While Han Yu scrutinized them, the assassins were also sizing him up.

The three exchanged glances. One of them finally spoke, "It's him. Kill him and find the Mind Stone!"

The assassins unsheathed their swords in unison, rushing toward Han Yu. Despite the narrow space, their coordinated movements showed no sign of crowding, as they advanced with seamless precision.

Han Yu stepped forward, grabbed Natasha, and tossed her onto the couch behind him. At the same time, he raised his right arm to shield himself. The cold gleam of three sword blades struck his arm.

"Hah! You dare barge in here? Courting death!"

Han Yu had no intention of attacking ordinary humans, but strictly speaking, he was no longer human. If he wanted to be boastful, he could even call himself a god. His physical abilities far exceeded those of ordinary humans—his strength alone was beyond what they could endure.

Without any flourish, Han Yu struck the leftmost assassin square in the chest with his palm. The impact produced a muffled groan as red liquid seeped through the black mask covering the assassin's face.

That single blow killed the assassin instantly.

The remaining two assassins, shocked by the swift death of their comrade, immediately retreated a short distance and stared warily at Han Yu.

"Hey, your boss is being attacked, and you two don't seem the least bit concerned?"

From behind the couch, Natasha peeked out cautiously. She used the furniture as cover, glancing at the tense confrontation before turning toward her companions. Surprisingly, Ultron and Quicksilver were also hiding behind the couch—but instead of preparing to help, they were engrossed in a mobile game, as though the attack wasn't happening right in front of them.

"Oh, come on, what's the big deal? Our boss is so strong, he'll take care of them with ease. You can delay anything else, but not gaming—I'm about to win!"

Quicksilver's fingers moved rapidly across his phone screen as his character unleashed a flurry of skills in the game. Natasha glanced at his in-game stats: 0 kills, 5 deaths.

"Are these seriously his employees? They seem completely indifferent to their boss's life," Natasha thought to herself, feeling a mix of disbelief and exasperation.

Deciding to ignore them, she refocused her attention on the escalating battle in front of her.

The two assassins exchanged a glance, their expressions grim. The one on the right narrowed his eyes, a fierce determination flashing within them. Raising his hand, he summoned a faint purple energy that flowed from his arm and solidified into a glowing, violet longsword.

Natasha and Han Yu were both momentarily stunned. In this world, superpowered individuals were rare, and the sight of an assassin materializing a sword from pure energy caught Natasha off guard.

Han Yu's surprise, however, stemmed from a different realization. This didn't look like a simple superpower—it seemed more like mutant genes.

"A mutant? That's not right… Mutants haven't appeared in Marvel's main universe yet. Could this be a result of timeline disruption?"

Han Yu's gaze sharpened with icy resolve. He needed to end this quickly and uncover whether this ability came from advanced technology or the assassin's own innate powers.

Without saying another word, the two assassins launched their attack. As the energy sword-wielding assassin charged forward, his companion—the seemingly ordinary one—flicked his wrists, revealing two small black spheres pinched between his fingers. The spheres flew toward Han Yu, bursting into dense, dark smoke upon impact.

The smoke enveloped the area, but the assassins appeared unaffected. As the cloud thickened, the violet sword sliced through the haze, hurtling straight toward Han Yu's head.

Just as the blade was about to connect, two of Han Yu's fingers, enveloped in emerald energy, caught the glowing sword mid-air.

Han Yu's body was tough, but not tough enough to handle a weapon made of pure energy with bare flesh. Only by using his own energy as a barrier could he neutralize it.

"Impressive speed," Han Yu remarked with a faint smile. "If you were up against an ordinary person, you might have succeeded. Unfortunately for you, you picked the wrong opponent."

With a subtle twist of his fingers, Han Yu snapped the assassin's violet blade in two. Before the stunned man could react, Han Yu delivered a powerful kick to his abdomen, sending him crashing into the wooden door. The impact left the assassin unconscious.

Though the man possessed mutant abilities, his physical resilience was comparable to that of a well-trained human—nowhere near enough to withstand Han Yu's strength.

The other assassin, witnessing his comrade's swift defeat, realized his chances were slim. Without hesitation, he turned and fled.

"I'll have someone pursue him!" Natasha said quickly, seizing the opportunity to prove herself. She used her earpiece to call for S.H.I.E.L.D. agents outside to apprehend the fleeing assassin, while shifting her attention back to the unconscious one inside.

Han Yu strode over to the fallen assassin, crouched down, and searched him thoroughly. There was no sign of advanced technology capable of creating the energy sword. That left only one explanation—he really was a mutant!

"Well, this is getting interesting," Han Yu muttered. If the League of Assassins existed here and this was the first mutant he'd encountered, then his theory was correct: this world was subtly merging with others.

Though the entire universes might not be fully integrated, certain elements and factions from other worlds were beginning to emerge in this one.

The League of Assassins was manageable. But if something more powerful—like Krypton—appeared, it was entirely possible Superman might show up on Earth!

Han Yu wasn't particularly interested in Superman. After all, they were both men, and it would feel strange to be fascinated by him. Superman's cousin, on the other hand, was a different story.

Supergirl. Kara Zor-El, now that was someone Han Yu found intriguing.
