Chapter 225: Chapter 225: A Strange Occurrence
Night had fallen.
Inside the general store, occasional bursts of laughter echoed—courtesy of Ultron and the others. Even deep into the night, they remained engrossed in studying the abilities of the Sharingan, their enthusiasm only growing with each new discovery.
Poor Ebony Maw couldn't even muster a scream. Watching this scene, Han Yu fell into deep thought. With both Ebony Maw and Black Dwarf already here, he began to wonder: where were the other two members of the Black Order?
Han Yu knew all too well that Thanos had four elite lieutenants under his command, known as the Black Order, each holding positions above countless others and answering directly to Thanos himself.
Aside from Ebony Maw and Black Dwarf, the remaining two were Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive.
"Hmm, while those two aren't as formidable as Ebony Maw or Black Dwarf, they're not to be underestimated either," Han Yu mused.
Ebony Maw, after all, was comparable to a Supreme Sorcerer, and Black Dwarf possessed brute strength capable of going toe-to-toe with the Hulkbuster armor without faltering.
In contrast, Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive felt more like super soldiers to Han Yu. Honestly, without sugarcoating it, even Captain America—without relying on his Green Lantern ring and armed only with his vibranium shield—could easily outmatch the duo.
His enchanted vibranium shield boasted not only impressive defensive capabilities but also offensive rebound potential and unwavering loyalty, returning to him no matter the distance.
Just based on that alone, Captain America could hold his own against either Proxima Midnight or Corvus Glaive.
"But... I wonder if Thanos granted them any Cosmic Heart energy," Han Yu thought, furrowing his brows.
Previously, when Poseidon attacked, he had been infused with energy from Thanos' Cosmic Heart. So why didn't Ebony Maw and Black Dwarf have it now? Was it because Thanos deemed them strong enough without it?
"No... Something doesn't add up. What is it?" Han Yu frowned deeply.
He couldn't believe Thanos would let things slide so easily. Although they hadn't met face-to-face, Han Yu had indirectly clashed with him twice—once during Poseidon's assault and another when absorbing the Cosmic Heart energy that Thanos had unleashed.
Both times, Han Yu emerged victorious. He thwarted Poseidon's offensive and absorbed the Cosmic Heart energy. Thanos wasn't someone who would take such defeats lightly.
As he pondered, Han Yu's gaze drifted aimlessly around the room until it settled on Ebony Maw. His pupils suddenly contracted.
At that moment, Ebony Maw's expression was blank, his skin faintly tinged with an extremely subtle shade of blue—almost indistinguishable from his natural complexion.
The bluish hue flickered briefly before vanishing completely, lasting less than a fraction of a second.
Even Ultron, usually the most vigilant, was too engrossed in experimenting with his Sharingan to notice. Their focus remained locked on the illusion they had crafted for Ebony Maw, and with Han Yu present, they had lowered their guards entirely, trusting him without question.
But Han Yu, who had been idly scanning the room, noticed it instantly.
"What was that? That's not an ordinary glow... Could it be…?" Han Yu's eyes widened. With a powerful step forward, he shouted, "Everyone, move aside!"
His voice thundered like a sudden clap of lightning, jolting the others out of their illusions. Though confused, their trust in Han Yu was absolute. Without hesitation, they sprang back the moment they regained their senses.
Han Yu extended his hand toward Ebony Maw, unleashing an unprecedented surge of Green Lantern energy. The immense power radiated from his palm, flooding the entire room with a brilliant emerald glow.
"What's wrong with you!"
A voice suddenly echoed, its owner unclear. Almost simultaneously, a blinding blue light flared between them.
Upon seeing the light, Han Yu's expression finally turned serious. He muttered under his breath, "That bastard Thanos… he's actually using them as human bombs!"
Fortunately, Han Yu noticed it in time. Within the very next second of the light's emergence, his immense Green Lantern energy surged forth, seizing control over the Cosmic Heart energy hidden deep within Ebony Maw's body—just as it erupted without restraint.
Han Yu had never felt himself wielding such an enormous amount of Green Lantern energy before. This was undoubtedly the largest surge he'd ever unleashed.
Although the energy buried within Ebony Maw exploded with terrifying force, Han Yu's preemptive control kept it contained. Still, the initial shockwave was powerful enough to slam everyone around him hard against the walls.
Only Han Yu remained perfectly still, unmoved. Floating before him was an energy sphere, about the size of a basketball, swirling steadily in his hand.
Staring at the orb, Han Yu had another realization.
"If Ebony Maw had Cosmic Heart energy inside him… then Black Dwarf must have it too..."
The next moment, Han Yu's figure vanished from sight, leaving Ultron and the others stunned. Even Quicksilver, confident in his own speed, couldn't hide his astonishment—he couldn't track Han Yu's movement at all.
"His speed… completely surpasses mine," Quicksilver murmured in disbelief. "He didn't even finish his sentence before disappearing."
Ultron, the one who understood Han Yu the best, quickly pieced everything together—from the earlier explosion to the half-finished sentence Han Yu had left behind.
His expression grew grave. "Judging from that blast, if it had gone unchecked, there's a good chance none of us would've survived."
Wanda nodded. She didn't fully grasp what had happened, but she could sense that the basketball-sized energy sphere Han Yu had been holding shared the same origin as her Little Peppa—it was the power of the Cosmic Heart.
Had it exploded while they were defenseless, the consequences would've been unimaginable.
Ultron took a deep breath and continued, "If Ebony Maw had that kind of energy inside him, then it's highly likely the other alien who came with him has it too."
"Damn it! We need to get to S.H.I.E.L.D. fast! That alien's corpse was handed over to them!" Wanda exclaimed.
Aside from Galacta, the three of them acted in perfect sync, slipping on their Green Lantern rings and shooting off at light-speed toward S.H.I.E.L.D.'s headquarters.
Before leaving, Wanda didn't forget to take Galacta along with them.
Within just a few breaths, the trio arrived at S.H.I.E.L.D.'s location. From afar, they could already see a pillar of blue light shooting skyward, radiating waves of destructive energy. Everything it touched was reduced to nothingness.
Just as the expanding pillar's radius reached nearly ten meters, it suddenly came to an abrupt halt. A young man stood at the edge of the light, his hand extended—stopping it cold.
