Chapter 11: Chapter 11: Make Earth Great Again
I must say that I didn't expect many people to accept my idea of absorbing animals, as Webnovel readers are usually very proficient in Yap Jutsu.
Thanks for the support, and I hope you continue enjoying my story. Don't forget to vote!

After the little party, coming in contact with some members of the guild, Gwen returned to the Room Dimension a little satisfied.
Then the little bit of drunkenness and tiredness she was feeling were all gone. She couldn't help but sigh; it was really a special sensation.
She couldn't help but think that if, in the future, she acquired some super regeneration ability—anti-drug, anti-alcohol, and all—or the ability to live years without eating, would she feel good?
You have to know that the sensation of eating when being hungry and sleeping when being sleepy is one of her most loved sensations.
She would definitely acquire characters that can't feel hunger or sleepiness, so she might as well enjoy it while she still can.
She could already imagine herself going to that cultivation world where the protagonist's ability is just to digest anything and is always more or less sleepy, just to gain back that sensation.
Anyway, things aren't completely decided, as she doesn't completely know if her idea would really work. She called Leila and said, "Hey Leila, I have an idea, how about..."
After some time, she told her about her plan and asked if she thought it would work.
[Master, I think your plan could really work. Generally speaking, your soul is stronger than any normal animal on Earth that hasn't mutated.]
[For example, if we take your current soul strength as a number and say it is 50, that of a normal human is about 20 to 30. For an animal, it should be below 20.]
[The reason why absorbing souls takes time for you is because your soul isn't strong enough and risks being overwhelmed by that of even a normal human right now. If it were stronger, you could absorb a normal human's soul in one day.]
[Now though, although your soul is much stronger than that of animals, it would still require some time, even though not as much compared to that of humans.]
[This is because of the difference in the physical body. The soul and the body are intricately connected. While your soul is indeed stronger than that of animals, their physical forms are naturally more attuned to their own souls.]
[Let's take catfish as an example. Catfish are the super-tasters of the underwater world, possessing the best sense of taste.]
[They can discover aquatic meals even in the murkiest water. With over 100,000 taste buds on their skin, and some having as many as 175,000, these fish are essentially living, breathing tongues.]
[The average human has 2,000 to 10,000 taste buds. Now, catfish have their taste buds all over their skin, while humans have them only on their tongues.]
[If you absorb their souls directly, it wouldn't take more than one day, but you would also have taste buds all over your skin. If you absorb them slowly to adapt to your body, it would take more time, but inversely, the taste buds would be confined to your tongue.]
Gwen listened intently to Leila's explanation, pondering over the implications. She now had even more understanding of what absorbing souls meant.
Still, it was better than she expected, but there was one question that hadn't been answered. She asked, "So how long does it take to absorb an animal's soul exactly?"
[Approximately 10 days. It may vary due to the nature of some animals, but not by much.]
A wide smile appeared on Gwen's face. The future seemed even brighter. Many animals seemed to be the nemesis of some abilities she knew. If things were correct, she would quickly gain resistance to things like heat and cold, gain flight abilities, and even some resistance to mind reading.
Now how Gwen wished 28 days would pass so that she could start. Time is money, after all. She looked at the coordinates and current time in her world. It was already 3:00 AM. She decided to get three hours of sleep, then return to the Fairy Tail World and take a mission.
She then returned to the Marvel World and her room. As expected, there didn't seem to be any visitors while she was away.
She changed her clothes to pajamas. Although she was tempted to take a bath, she thought she might wake up the sleeping family, plus all the sweat was gone when she was in the Room Dimension.
She simply chose to lay on her bed. Damn, it was at times like these that she missed her past world. If it were there, she would simply put on her headphones, start some music, and just chill until morning. No, headphones needed to be invented in this world.
Now, not only did she not feel sleepy since she wasn't tired, but her head was full of thoughts and plans concerning her future. She could only deal with it.
Despite her lack of sleepiness, she closed her eyes, forcing her mind to calm. Focusing on the rhythm of her breath, she let her body relax. Even if sleep didn't come naturally, rest was essential for the days ahead.
...
Three hours later, when a little bit of sunlight started shining in her room, Gwen opened her eyes. There wasn't any sign of confusion from waking up in her eyes.
She was fully awake. She put on another set of sportswear, as the one worn yesterday was spilled with alcohol during the banquet and also had sweat from fighting. She left it in the Room Dimension along with the sneakers.
When she left her room, there wasn't anyone awake, but it wasn't strange since it was the weekend. You gotta rest when you have time.
Gwen stretched her arms as she stepped outside, breathing in the morning air. The streets of her neighborhood were still quiet, quieter than yesterday, with only a few birds chirping to greet the dawn.
Dressed in her fresh sportswear, Gwen began a steady jog down the block. Who knows, maybe with time, this may become one of her few hobbies.
Seeing the world like this, it really doesn't feel like the Marvel World. I mean, she still hasn't encountered anything supernatural, even though mutants exist in this world and the Fantastic Four have made their debut.
She could only sigh; she could only enjoy peace for who knows how long. It's 2002 currently, and if according to the movie timeline, the Hulk movie events should happen next year.
Then Gwen remembered that this is a chaotic timeline. There wasn't any mention of Apocalypse concerning the mutants, but they did assassinate a president.
The conflict between them and humanity seems to have reached a point where any kind of peace between the two seems impossible. But, well, this is Marvel, a world where Sublime made humans the biggest racist race. What a joke.
Really, if there were peace between the two and they recognized mutants as humans, then humans might become one of the top strongest races in the universe in a few years.
Imagine that there are mutants like Elixir, able to heal any disease and help find medicine for most of the diseases that plagued humanity.
There's climate change? Don't worry, there are enough mutants who would help, like Bobby, who has the ability to manipulate all forms of moisture.
Hell, with Storm's ability, they could even make Mars a place where humans could live and survive. Unfortunately, humans in the Marvel Universe have anything but a bright future.
Gwen shook her head with a wry smile as she continued jogging. If she had enough power, she could try to change things for the better, but right now, she wasn't even able to protect her family, let alone take humanity's future into consideration.
Guess like they say, one step at a time. At least, she already knows the nature of the world she's in, has the possibility to change it, and has a second chance to live. So, nothing to complain about.
After about thirty minutes of jogging, Gwen slowed to a walk. It doesn't really matter as it doesn't help her or tire her in any way.
The essential thing was to have an alibi of always going for a morning run. She found a bench near a small pond and sat down, taking a moment to enjoy the tranquility of the scene. The reflection of the rising sun danced on the water's surface, and for a brief moment, everything felt serene.
She just sat there, enjoying the quietness, until the sun became clearer and the sounds of cars started to be heard. This is New York after all; there are people who are always busy.
She stood and stretched before heading home, where breakfast was already prepared by her mother and the whole family was already up.
George, who was reading the newspaper as usual, asked, "Umm, it seems that you are really serious about your jogging and not just something done in a spur of excitement."
From his voice, Gwen didn't hear any unpleasantness concerning his dislike of her hairstyle or any resentment from yesterday. Rather, she could feel that he was a little apologetic.
This was a good thing. He was a middle-aged man after all, no longer childish. Plus, thinking about it carefully, she hadn't done anything disrespectful yesterday. It was just him having a little bit of prejudice.
Gwen was, of course, happy with the development of things and replied, "Of course, the genes of the most self-disciplined police officer in New York run through me after all."
Like Gwen, George was also relieved that yesterday's events didn't seem to affect their relationship. As for Helen, she was observing everything and smiled, happy with the results of her talk with her husband yesterday.
END OF THE CHAPTER
Seriously, what do you guys think about Gwen's idea of making Earth return to a better state for humanity or would it slow down humanity's overall evolution?
What do you think about making planets like Mars or Venus livable, like maybe creating some kind of futuristic empire later?
