Mage Legend

Chapter 490: Travel and Non-Travel Travel Chapter Thirty-Eight Sea Battle

"Quickly set sail, increase the speed!" Lynch finally saw the appearance of the monster, and after estimating the chance of winning, he thought it best to leave this water area as quickly as possible.

Although the crew had exhausted a lot of energy in the overnight entertainment, words like "monster attack" had a better recovery ability than any rest. They hurriedly discarded their investments and cards, ignoring even the Gold Coins scattered on the deck. All three sails of the Horn were unfurled, and Jebor personally stood beside the wheel to steer his beloved ship, but the weak sea breeze of the morning still made the ship seem somewhat slow.

"What is that thing?" Macken peered over the side of the ship, looking down into the water, but saw nothing. "Is there any way to deal with it?"

"Very difficult to deal with, especially in this water-filled environment." Lynch shook his head, contemplating whether to release some of the Ghosts from the Undead Magic Bead to fight: "That's a Skeleton Glue Monster, once touched, all flesh and blood will melt. The only good news is that this ship is not on its menu." Then the Mage looked down again and said something that dampened everyone's spirits on the ship: "If the ship is a horn, then we are the horn meat; now I just hope the shell can hold out longer."

"Gelatinous Monster?" Zilvra stood beside Lynch, pulling Soka: "You need to burn this thing for a good effect, but in these waters, any flame will be greatly reduced. Lynch, now's not the time to hide your identity, if the ship breaks, we fall into the water and have no hope."

Lynch nodded and placed the scroll in his pocket where it was easy to reach. Then, he said to Soka, "Little one, take the things and fly up into the sky, never come down."

The Angel shook the bow and arrow in his hand and spread his wings: "Got it, I'll support you from above." Soka tied a tiger to his chest with a rope, whispering to it: "Little tiger, we're not afraid, okay!"

Even if the Mage decided to act, he hoped to release the spells only when the fight was inevitable. If he showcased the Magic Power too early, the sailors would first panic before the monster even arrived. In ordinary people's minds, those with magic powers are no different from monsters.

Soka spread his wings and flew into the sky, astonishing all the crew. They temporarily forgot about the monster lurking below and looked up at this spectacle. Even Macken the Knight, who already knew Soka's identity, was seeing the Angel soaring for the first time. He tightened his grip on his sword, muttering something under his breath, and no one knew what he was praying for.

Lynch took advantage of everyone's gaze being diverted, hastily releasing some Ghosts from the Undead Magic Bead. Once used, the Undead inside could never be imprisoned by the bead again. Although accumulating the power of such Divine Artifacts was a simple task, consuming it was just as swift. Lynch did not expect the released Undead to stop the Skeleton Glue Monster, but only hoped to use the special abilities of the Ghosts and Shadow Creatures to weaken the opponent's power.

Anything that still has living vitality must fear the power from the Death World. Although Lynch's Magic Bead still had plenty of Banshees, skeletons, and Zombies, these things either posed no threat or simply served as food for the Gelatinous Monster.

Just releasing a small squad of Ghosts was enough to make the surrounding temperature begin to drop. The chilly wind awoke the crew, refocusing their attention on the impending danger. A large mass of shadow gradually became clear from directly under the ship, and around it, numerous small shadows rapidly swirled and moved.

Jebor sharply turned the ship, trying to exit this shadow area, but the Skeleton Glue Monster's body was too enormous, and its movement speed in the water was much faster than on land. No matter how hard Jebor tried, the bottom of the ship was still touched by that mass.

"Damn it!" After seeing the form of the Skeleton Glue Monster, only Lynch and Macken could still curse, while everyone else was overwhelmed with fear. This was different from the fear inspired by a giant dragon's aura or a Witch Demon's breath; it was a primal emotion from prey being stalked by a predator. The Skeleton Glue Monster looked exactly like its name, a massive, constantly rolling mass of glue, its color ghastly white, resembling bones that had been completely corroded clean. Countless bone fragments were interwoven and protruded from its gelatinous surface, crafting the creature into a kind of pincushion. Though those bones seemed vulnerable to strikes, what the Skeleton Glue Monster relied on were never those bony spikes.
