Chapter 11: Prologue -11.

"Enough!" General Wu's voice rang out, his face flushed with anger and confusion. "You, Demon Keeper, what business do you have here?!"

The old man remained silent, his milky eyes fixed on the soldiers. His lips didn't move, but the demon spoke in his place.

"Business, you ask? Oh, General Wu, don't play the fool. My master has come to save what's left of your pitiful souls. What a sight! Look at you all. Just moments ago, you were heroes, warriors fighting for the future of humanity. Now? You've turned into the very filth you sought to destroy. How delightful! But my master, being the wise old man he is, doesn't believe in letting such… glorious madness go unchecked. He's here to 'help' you."

"Help us?!" a soldier spat, stepping forward with his blade raised. "You're nothing but a traitor! You've sided with demons! You don't belong with us!"

The demon's eyes glinted with amusement as it pulled at its chains, forcing the old man forward. "Sided with demons? Oh, you 'idiot,'" it sneered, its voice dripping with mockery. "My master hasn't 'sided' with demons. No, no, no. He 'owns' them. You see this?" it rattled the spiked metal neck collar with multiple chains connected to it. "I'm 'his' now, and if you were smart, you'd be 'begging' him to leash a few more demons for your pathetic army. But nooo, you'd rather wallow in your filth, wouldn't you?"

The soldier hesitated, his blade trembling. "I—"

"Shut up!" the demon barked, cutting him off. "You're nothing but a worm, barely capable of stringing a coherent thought together. Look at you! Covered in your blood, piss, and god knows what else. You think this is what your ancestors dreamed of when they fought the demons? This? This 'depravity'?" It laughed again, a cruel sound that made the soldiers flinch.

General Wu gritted his teeth, his anger rising. "Enough of this! What does your master want? Speak plainly, demon, or I'll see to it that you're cut down where you stand."

The demon's grin never wavered. "Oh, you 'wish' you could cut me down, don't you? But my master…" It paused dramatically, tilting its head as if considering its next words. "My master wishes for you to stop this madness. The demons are here to surrender, they have already surrendered. You've won. But if you continue down this path, you'll lose something far more important than your lives. You'll lose your humanity. Isn't that what you're fighting for? To 'preserve' your humanity?"

The soldiers shifted uncomfortably, some muttering under their breath.

General Wu's eyes narrowed. "And why should we listen to you? A demon. What does your master gain from this?"

The demon's eyes gleamed with sadistic pleasure. "What does he gain? Ohhh, General Wu, my master is a man of… simple pleasures. He's here to ensure that you don't become what you and he despise. After all, if humanity turns into monsters, then his sacrifices would be just plain tragic?" The demon chuckled darkly, its voice dripping with mockery. "You see, you may hate him, but deep down, you know he's right. This path you're on? It leads to nothing but destruction."

Commander Jin, still on the ground, gritted his teeth in pain, his voice raspy but filled with defiance. "We don't need your help… we have already killed three of them out of seven and we will kill them all. I killed the Scarlet Empress with my own hands and We'll destroy every last demon if we have to!"

The demon's head snapped toward Jin, and it grinned, revealing rows of jagged teeth. "Oh, Commander Jin, you're just adorable, aren't you? So full of rage, so full of hate. You think you can just piss on every demon and call it victory? You've already seen that not all demons can be killed with a sword—or your 'pathetic' bodily fluids."

The soldiers snickered nervously, but the tension remained thick in the air.

"My master…" the demon continued, "believes there's a better way. A smarter way. But nooo, you're too 'stupid' to listen, aren't you? You're too blinded by your own arrogance. Fine, go ahead. Keep pissing on corpses, keep defiling what little remains of your honor. But don't come crying when you've lost everything you ever stood for."

"Enough of your 'rants,' demon!" General Wu snapped, his hand hovering over his sword. "Speak plainly, or face the consequences."

The demon's grin only widened. "Oh, General… if you truly are the leader of an army, then make your men act like 'soldiers,' not rabid dogs." It gestured at the chaos around them, at the soldiers defiling the battlefield with their depravity. "Or have you lost control? Have you become just like the demons you claim to despise? Unable to command anything, not even your own pathetic anger?"

General Wu's hand tightened on the hilt of his sword, the muscles in his jaw twitching. "You dare question my control over my men? You 'dare' to insult us, after all we've suffered? You—"

"Oh, spare me the sob story, General," the demon interrupted, rolling its eyes dramatically. "You think you're the only ones who've suffered? You think your pain gives you the right to become 'this'?" It sneered, its bony hand sweeping over the soldiers. "I'm not here to coddle your wounded pride. I'm here to deliver a warning. You're standing on the edge of a cliff, General Wu. One more step, and you'll fall—and when you do, you'll take all of humanity with you."

Commander Jin struggled to his feet, face contorted with anger and pain. "We don't need your warnings! We've bled and died to get this far. The demons deserve worse than what we've done. You're just scared because you know your kind is finished!"

The demon let out a long, exaggerated sigh, shaking its head in mock disappointment. "Oh, Jin, Jin, Jin… so simple, so angry. You don't understand anything, do you?" It turned to General Wu again, its eyes gleaming with dark amusement. "My master could explain it, of course. But I doubt you'd listen. After all, you're so 'set' on your path of glorious destruction, aren't you? So eager to throw away what little remains of your soul."
