Love Together, Be with you never

Chapter 26: Crossed Paths..

As Sarah entered the venue for her cousin's engagement, her eyes immediately landed on William, who was standing near a group of people. Her heart skipped a beat—of all the places, she had to run into him here.

William noticed her too and couldn't help but mutter under his breath, "Oh, great. The parking stalker girl."

Sarah's eyes narrowed. "Parking narcissistic guy," she shot back, crossing her arms.

Before they could go any further, Sarah took a step forward, but her dress caught on the corner of a nearby table. She froze, trying to pull it loose.

William observed her for a moment, raising an eyebrow. "Need some help, or you gonna keep wrestling with that dress?"

"I don't need your help," Sarah snapped, trying to free herself, her frustration mounting.

William smirked. "Sure you don't. You're doing great there."

"Stop making fun of me!" Sarah glared, tugging harder. "I can do this myself!"

"Alright," William shrugged, taking a step closer. "But if you keep pulling like that, your dress might end up in pieces."

After a brief pause, Sarah gave him a sideways glance. "Fine, but don't think I'm thanking you."

William carefully freed the fabric. "No thanks necessary. Just doing my part as your friendly neighborhood 'narcissistic' guy."

Sarah rolled her eyes. "Yeah, whatever. Just—don't talk about this later."

Just then, Sarah's mother appeared, beaming with joy. "Ah, I'm so happy you two have already met! William, this is my daughter, Sarah."

William gave a polite but slightly strained smile, his eyes narrowing just a little. Great, he thought. Of course, I have to meet her again in front of her family.

Sarah forced a smile and nodded. "Nice to meet you again, William."

Her mother, oblivious to the tension, clapped her hands together. "Oh, you two are so charming together! I'm sure you'll get along just wonderfully. This is such a lovely start to a beautiful friendship!"

Meanwhile, across town, at Kane's engagement, he stood quietly, a sour expression on his face. His friends—who were all supposed to be here supporting him—had ditched him to go to Sarah's family function instead. Kane watched as they laughed and joked with Sarah, completely forgetting about him.

His stomach churned. He should've been happy, celebrating with Selena, but all he felt was loneliness. His friends had left him for Sarah. His gaze shifted to Selena, who was standing beside him, smiling brightly. But even her presence couldn't ease the knot in his chest.

Selena, sensing his mood, gave a small laugh. "You're mine now, Kane. You don't need to worry about her anymore."

Kane just nodded, the weight of it all sinking in. He was here with Selena, but his heart wasn't in it. It wasn't the way he thought it would feel. The absence of his friends, and the overwhelming feeling that things were slipping out of his control, left him feeling emptier than ever.

The engagement of Justin was done with his girlfriend and all the media and guests had dinner and were done for the day.

The next day in university Sarah and Lucas were discussing about studies and their career plans soon they were interrupted by their professor and she asked them to submit their practicals to her and asked Sarah to collect everyone's practical and submit it in Principal's office.

So Sarah started collecting it and Sophia gave her a hand and went with her to principal's office. Sarah knocked the door before going in and Mrs . Mitchell (Sarah's Mom) was talking to a boy when Sarah entered and then she said, "Ma'am these are class 11 practicals for stamping. I'm leaving it on the table. Thank you".

Mrs. Mitchell said, " Sarah, you won't greet me and you're here at right time.

Sarah replied, "Good morning Mrs. Mitchell. Glad to see you here. Now may I leave.

Her mother replied, " So you already met William now from tomorrow he will join our university so I want you to show him around and his class especially he's a year elder than you so you understand what I mean right?.

Before Sarah could reply principal interrupted and said , "Why Sarah should show around we have a lot of staff they can do it.

Her mother replied, " Yes they can but he might feel uncomfortable and might not ask any doubts to them and in this way they can become friends and interact more often so Sarah will go.

Sarah replied, "Fine I will, Come Follow Me".

Her mother said, " Sarah you should be more polite with him "

As Sarah was showing William around the university campus , Selena approached with a curious smile, her eyes on William.

"Oh, Sarah who's this handsome guy?".Selena asked, her voice playful."Won't you introduce me?".

Sarah glanced at William and then back at Selena with a mischievous grin. "Handsome ? This guy? Please Selena don't joke like that", she teased him.

William raised an eyebrow but as he didn't replied her back as her perspective doesn't mattered to him so he just stayed unamused.

Selena extended her hand to William. " Well , Regardless, nice to meet you, William. I'm Selena.

William glanced at her hand, his expression unreadable. He didn't take it, instead looking away slightly. "Hmm," he muttered, offering no response. He then turned to Sarah. "Shall we go ahead?" he asked, his tone indifferent.

Sarah blinked to him and as she was shocked and to end the awkwardness "Sure," she said, turning to lead the way. "Let's go."

Behind them, Selena watched them walk away, a bit confused but amused. "That guy's definitely hard to get," she muttered to herself with a smirk, wondering why he was so distant..
