Lost Origins: SS Ranked Awakening

Chapter 185: Beast Core Poison

"Cough!"

She coughed up a mouthful of blood, looking down to see three daggers stabbed into her torso.

Her eyes widened and she quickly tried to activate her ability to phase away from the encirclement but she couldn't, returning to her physical state almost immediately.

"You didn't think we had something prepared for that?"

One of the three recruits said with a sadistic smile on his face, seeing her failed attempts at phasing out.

At the end of the daggers in their hand were crystal's which shone with a dull light.

'Beast cystals!'

Ruby's eyes widened, identifying the nature of the crystal with a single look.

Looking behind them, she saw Jordan in a pool of his own blood, he was still alive, looking in her direction with a pained expression.

There was nothing he could do to help her.

The three Centrachs seeing the sight, felt more threatened, and spat out more corrosive fluid at them.

Seeing the beasts attacks. The three recruits withdrew, letting Ruby bear the brunt of the attacks.

"Arrgghh!!"

Ruby screamed and coughed up more blood and fell to her knees, feeling the fluid burn and eat through her skin and even with the daggers out of her, she still couldn't enter the phantom state.

"We coated our blades too, you know?"

The three said, bending down to observe her writhing in pain from the fluid.

"Ohh, how scary!!!!"

One of the recruits said looking at the deathly expression on Ruby's face along with her blood shot eyes that looked like they were about to shoot lazers..

"Yo-u....aa-r-re....so...d-dead"

Ruby muttered through gritted teeth, biting hard on her tongue, but even that failed to distract her from the pain on her back.

"Skrrrr!"

The three monsters screeched in sync. To the monster, nothing mattered until they had all died. The invaders of their home who had slayed all their offspring and killed off the remaining survivors.

"What should we do? Kill them?"

Jose, one of the three recruits asked in a sour tone, dodging the attack of the Centrachs.

The three oversized beasts, didn't have any other means of attack asides the corrosive liquid the sprayed, but it's range was enormous, almost reaching the other side of the room where Jordan laid, bleeding out, just like Ruby.

"No, we have to let them kill her first, before we do that."

The second recruit said, dodging another attack aimed at him this time.

Now that Ruby was down, it was like the Centrachs didn't see her or Jordan, ignoring them entirely and focusing their attacks on the three of them with a crazed intensity.

"What's with them all of a sudden?"

Jose shouted in frustration, dodging another attack from the monster.

'Fools!'

Ruby thought, watching them try to dodge the Centrachs attacks, while hoping that one of them would turn its gaze towards her

The Centrachs didn't have actual eyes, they sensed the location of their enemies based of the vibrations they felt when they walked. That was why the three huge Centrachs had their spider like feet dug deepy into the ground.

To feel as much as they could, giving them immense clarity on the enemies location.

The reason why she had been able to kill that many Centrachs back then without attracting any aggro was because of this feature of the Centrachs.

She had phased her feet and moved like a phantom, leaving behind no vibrations as she passed them undetected.

Right now, those three recruits were the only living beings the Centrachs could sense asides themselves.

That gave Ruby some time to fight against the poison in her system.

If she could at least circulate her internal energy well enough to numb the pain from her back, then she could at least have a chance to get that those bastards.

"I've had enough of this. We can just end her later."

Jose said with a tone filled with frustration and the other two said nothing seeing him approach the Centrachs and even went along with him.

They had gotten tired of stalling. Things weren't going exactly according to plan, but the main mission— to put Ruby down had been accomplished.

They would just have to adjust things a little.

Ruby watched as they went off the defensive and proceeded to slaughter the three huge Centrachs without wasting much time.

Wiping the dark blood of themselves, the turned around and started heafing in Ruby's direction, amused by the look in her bloodshot eyes.

"What did you say about killing us huh?"

Jose grabbed her by the chin.

Looking up to another one of the recruits, sending a signal with a nod of his head.

The recruit went over Ruby and pulled a sword out.

"Stab her on the back then, we'd spray some of the Centrachs fluid on her to cover things up"

"We'd also have to use some on ourselves to make it more convincing."

The second recruit said, shifting uncomfortably at the thought of spraying himself with the monsters corrosive fluid.

"It has to be done. The rewards Lord Orion offered were huge after all."

"Shut it!"

The third recruit said and Jose lashed out at him. It was highly unprofessional to reveal the identity of the one who put them up to it

"Don't worry, Jose. She's about to die anyway."

He said, laughing it off.

'Orion!'

The bloodlust in Ruby's eyes multiplied hearing that name.

"Enough! Kill her and let's get it over with!"

Jose said impatiently and the thrid guy above Ruby nodded, raising the sword above his head before bringing it down in one swift motion.

"Hmm?"

A frown appeared on his face once the sword pierced through her body.

'That didn't cut!!'

It didn't feel right at all, and he pulled the weapon out, he was met with a clean blade.

"Fuck!!! Sh—"

"Arghhhh, fuuuckk!!!"

He didn't get to complete his words before something bright flashed past his eyes and cut appeared across his face, cutting through his two eyes.

"What?"

His scream alerted Jose and the other recruit that had gone to retrieve the fluid from the Centrachs carcasses.

"H-how?"

Jose muttered, overwhelmed with fear at the palpable manifestation of Ruby's bloodlust.
