Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth

Chapter 337: Newcomer_2

During jujutsu practice, Luke no longer treated her as a woman, and he was frequently subdued by her during sparring.

Of course, with each practice session, each fall, Luke made progress.

After meeting Natasha, Luke used his third jujutsu card, which was also his last one.

But the problem wasn't serious, as the Detective System upgraded to an Exchange System, allowing him to redeem points for the cards he needed, meaning he could continue exchanging points for jujutsu practice.

With the boost from the jujutsu cards, Luke learned quickly. He had already grasped the theory and basic moves yesterday, and today was mainly about sparring and learning techniques like grapples, chokeholds, and strikes.

The sparring sessions lasted about twenty minutes each, and after the twenty-minute sparring session, Natasha would spend five to ten minutes explaining the key points of the movements and where Luke had made mistakes, followed by a ten-minute break before continuing training.

Every time they sparred, Luke showed clear improvement, which even surprised Natasha with his talent.

You need to understand that Luke was still a jujutsu novice yesterday, but today he had mastered many jujutsu techniques. Although he wasn't yet proficient and there were plenty of flaws, it was no longer easy to subdue Luke.

"Ding-a-ling-ling..."

It was around 8:40 in the evening when Luke's phone rang.

Natasha released the collar of Luke's shirt, "Take a break."

Sparring with Luke was not easy for Natasha either, as Luke's physical advantage was apparent, and he was significantly taller than her.

Wiping the sweat from his forehead with a dry towel, Luke picked up the phone and saw Daisy's number displayed on the screen, "Hello?"

"Lawrence Miller is blocked in my yard. Do you have time to come over now?"

"Are you in any danger right now?"

"I'm still in the car; I haven't gotten out."

"I'll head over now.

Take care of yourself, and if there's any danger, drive away first."

"Okay, I understand." Luke hung up the phone, "Coach, something came up urgently; I have to leave."

"Will you come back tomorrow?" Natasha asked.

"I might not have time tomorrow."

"You have great talent in jujutsu. If you keep training for a while, you'll see significant improvements and might even have the potential to become a black belt."

"I know, and I'll practice on my own when I have time." Luke was particularly worried about this. Because of the jujutsu cards, his learning ability was very strong, and it was possible that with just a few cards and a few training sessions, he could achieve what others took years of hard practice to accomplish.

This was good news, but he shouldn't flaunt it.

Luke decided to practice again after some time. Even if his progress was noticeable, there would be a buffer period, making Natasha think that Luke was practicing privately, hoping to surprise everyone stealthily.

Even with his talent somewhat hidden, Luke's abilities were already quite astonishing.

After leaving the Jujutsu Club, Luke drove towards Daisy's house.

He was getting a bit impatient with Lawrence Miller and was ready to resolve this annoyance once and for all.

...

At Daisy's house.

Lawrence Miller stood in the yard with his arms crossed, his face still bearing distinct bruises as he yelled at the white sedan, "Hey, why won't you get out of the car? Do you dislike seeing your biological father that much?"

Through the car window, Daisy responded, "You've been drinking; I don't want to talk to you today."

"Right, I have been drinking.

Why don't you ask me why?" Lawrence Miller asked loudly, "My lawyer daughter not only looks down on me but also allies with outsiders against me.

Your boyfriend is a bastard; he let his people beat me up.

Look at my face, it's swollen from being beaten up by his men.

I drink because I'm heartbroken; I can't understand why God is treating me this way."

Daisy asked, "You're saying Luke had someone beat you up?"

"Yes. Does he dare not admit it?"

"I've heard his side. He didn't want this to happen either, and it certainly wasn't on his orders.

What did you do? Why would that person beat you up?"

"There's no damn reason; the fact is, I got beaten up.

And he's in cahoots with that guy.

Your father gets beaten up, yet you sit in your car, indifferent. Is that what a daughter is supposed to do?" Lawrence Miller banged on the car roof forcefully.

"You're drunk; there's nothing to discuss. Leave my property."

"What a cold-hearted creature.

I know you despise me; you want me to get lost.

Go ahead and kiss up to that wealthy stepfather—am I right, Daisy Cruise?"

Daisy glared at him, "If you don't leave, I'm calling the police."

Lawrence Miller showed his thumb, "Wow, what a great daughter, cozying up to the Cruise family while watching her own brother go to jail, and now you're about to personally send your father to jail, haha."

Daisy's face grew increasingly unpleasant; her eyes were red, but she felt helpless against him.

"Wuuuu..."

A black Mercedes G500 arrived and stopped at the gate of the yard. The driver's side door opened, and Luke, holding a bottle of whiskey, got out of the car, "Hey, Lawrence Miller, what are you doing here?"

"I'm here to see my daughter; is there a problem?"

With the bottle of whiskey in hand, Luke said, "You've disrupted our time together; I was planning to enjoy a good drink."

"So what, you want to beat me up again? Right here, in front of my daughter?"

"Whoa, looks like there's been some sort of misunderstanding between us." Luke looked at Lawrence Miller, "I heard you got beaten, but I don't sympathize with you.
