Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth

Chapter 335 Persuading with Reason_3

Luke said, "I've only met Hill Cruise and Daisy's mother once, and though I'm not familiar with them, from what I've indirectly learned, Daisy doesn't have a close relationship with the Cruise family.

She didn't attend Mr. Fuan Cruise's engagement ceremony, and Daisy changed her last name not because she was disappointed in some of your actions. Besides, she took her grandfather's surname Ellis, not Cruise.

So, things are not as you think they are."

"That's just what you see, or rather, what they want you to see. It doesn't necessarily reflect reality."

"Okay, let me tell you what the reality is.

You're just jealous that your ex-wife is doing better than you, so you write threatening letters to her husband and even plan to cause trouble at her father-in-law's engagement ceremony.

Am I right?"

"Did they call the police? Do you have any evidence?"

"Did you see my badge?"

"No."

"That's right. I'm not communicating with you as a police officer now but as a friend advising you not to make trouble."

"What if I insist on making trouble?"

"Listen, I'm here to help you.

Mr. Fuan Cruise has hired more than just me for security.

The others won't be as easy to talk to as I am, understood?"

Lawrence Miller shot back, "How do you plan to help me?"

"Causing a scene at Cruise Manor won't benefit you at all; it will be embarrassing for the Cruise family and disgraceful for you too.

This is an entirely self-destructive move."

Lawrence Miller patted his own cheek, "I've got nothing left to lose. I couldn't care less about honor. As long as I can disgust the Cruise family and let everyone know their shamelessness, I'll have achieved my goal.

If they don't let me live in peace, I'll make sure they don't either."

"Listen, making an enemy of such a family has no benefits for you. Besides, it will make Daisy very uncomfortable."

"That damn girl has become a lawyer and looks down on her useless old dad; why should I care about her?" Lawrence Miller snorted, unconcerned,

"You think you can send me away with a few kind words?"

Indeed, some people only believe what they want to believe. Luke had to change tactics, "I can give you two options, A: I give you five hundred US dollars to buy a plane ticket and leave Los Angeles. Don't come back for a while.

Option B: I give you fifty US dollars to find a bar and have a good drink, take some time to think.

If you come to your senses, just leave; if not, you can come back and cause trouble for the Cruise family again."

Luke made two offers with different goals in mind.

Option A: Not only to keep Lawrence Miller from disrupting the engagement ceremony but also in the hope that he wouldn't bother Daisy anymore.

Option B: To ensure Lawrence Miller doesn't disrupt the engagement ceremony, so Luke could complete his assignment successfully and get his commission.

After today, once the engagement ceremony is over if he causes trouble again, it will no longer concern Luke.

Lawrence Miller, with his neck stiff, asked, "What if I choose neither?"

Luke replied coldly, "Not choosing means you're messing with my livelihood, and it becomes a personal issue."

"What are you going to do, beat me up?"

"You could try."

The two men locked eyes for a moment, and then Lawrence Miller laughed, "Okay, I'll give you face. I pick option A."

"Good." Luke pulled out five hundred US dollars from his pocket and handed it over, "Take my money and follow the rule. Buy a ticket and leave Los Angeles."

"I will."

"Wish you a safe journey." Luke turned and walked away.

"Hey, say hello to Daisy for me."

Luke waved his hand and drove away in his Hummer.

"Fuck, he drives such a nice car and thinks he can pay me off with five hundred dollars.

"Just like the Cruise family, a bunch of heartless bastards." Lawrence Miller did a U-turn and drove away.

After about two miles, the more he thought, the angrier he got, complaining, "Who does he think he is? Thinks he can get rid of me with five hundred dollars?

"Can this five hundred dollars save my son?"

The more Lawrence Miller thought about it, the angrier he got; he slowed down and turned back towards Cruise Manor.

But this time, he was smarter, worried about being stopped by Luke again, he turned right into a small road, hoping to take an alternate route to Cruise Manor.

Lawrence Miller kept an eye out for Luke ahead, dreading another interception.

After driving for about ten minutes without any signs of trouble, Lawrence Miller breathed a sigh of relief, thinking to himself, "Idiot, thinks five hundred dollars can settle me?

"In his eyes, am I really worth so little?"

Peering through the windshield, he saw a large house in the distance, feeling a mix of excitement and unease, he took a deep breath, "Cruise family, here I come.

"If you won't let me live in peace, I won't let you live in peace either."

"Woo woo..." Suddenly, a black Ford sped up from behind, overtook, and then cut off Lawrence's black Honda.

"Fuck, can't you drive, idiot?" Lawrence Miller, already full of frustration, cursed involuntarily.

The black Ford slowed down, forcing Lawrence Miller's Honda to a stop.

Out of the Ford came a black man, Anlek Raul, Luke's informant.

Lawrence Miller demanded, "Are you crazy? Why the hell did you stop my car?"

Anlek Raul asked, "Buddy, where are you going?"

"What's it to you? We mind our own business, don't cause trouble," Lawrence Miller swung his fist in warning.

Anlek Raul pressed on, "You're heading to Cruise Manor?"

Lawrence Miller frowned in displeasure, "What's it to you?"

"You took Mr. Lee's money, you've got to stick to your agreement with him.

"You can't take the money and then smash his rice bowl."

"What if I insist on going?"

"Bang!"

What answered him was a right hook.

Anlek Raul didn't indulge him, he threw a punch that knocked him to the ground and mounted him, beating him up mercilessly.

"Ah! Why the hell did you sneak attack me?

"I'm not someone to mess with.

"Fuck, you can't do this to me..." Lawrence Miller was savagely beaten; at first, he talked tough, but soon started begging for mercy,

"Stop, please, stop.

"I won't go to Cruise Manor.

"I'll leave right now."

After finishing the beating, Anlek Raul fished out the five hundred dollars from Lawrence's pocket and stuffed it into his own.

Lawrence Miller protested, "That's mine."

Anlek Raul spit, "You don't deserve that money."

"You can't do this to me."

"I can."

"I'm going to call the police."

"I don't give a damn, it'll be like a vacation.

"When I get out, you'll be beat up even worse, I promise." Anlek Raul pointed at the black Honda,

"Get in your car and get the hell out of here immediately."
