Lord: Sequence Master

Chapter 12: Masadora

"I choose to merge the Hunter X Hunter realm…" Rosen made his decision without hesitation.

The mysterious study was his golden opportunity, and the Main God computer, along with the Hunter X Hunter realm, were its most valuable extraordinary items.

There had really only ever been one option. As soon as Rosen confirmed his decision, the Saw 1 virtual realm interface on the Main God computer began to fade away. Golden lightning shot out from the screen, wrapping around the entire shelf of Hunter X Hunter manga. The manga volumes dissolved into the computer, and a new Hunter X Hunter icon appeared on the desktop.

When Rosen clicked on the icon, the screen shifted to display the Hunter X Hunter world map, revealing only Mobius Lake and the islands within it—the human world. At this moment, Rosen could light up a single puzzle piece on the map.

After careful thought, Rosen selected the Greed Island arc.

Greed Island was a real-world game created by Ging Freecss, the father of the series' protagonist, and a group of fellow Nen masters. It was a game world filled with magical treasures and tools created through Nen abilities, designed specifically for Nen users.

With the energy from the Saw 1 realm, it was impossible to illuminate the entire Greed Island map. After further narrowing down his options, Rosen chose to light up Magic City Masadora.

Though called a city, Masadora was more like a small town. Even though Greed Island was vast, there were usually only a few hundred players—Nen users—on the island at any given time. The city housed just a few thousand NPCs, all created through Nen.

With the map fragment lit up, Rosen gained access to new permissions.

He could now enter Masadora at any time, assuming the role of either an NPC or a player. However, he could only choose one identity, and the choice would be permanent. Whichever role he chose, he would be able to freely move within Masadora, but not leave the town.

Due to the Hunter X Hunter realm's incomplete status, the entire world could not reset or operate on a cyclical loop.

Rosen had the freedom to set the timeline for Masadora, but once chosen, it would progress naturally. Time in the entire Hunter X Hunter realm would pause whenever he left Masadora.

Additionally, some unique NPCs would appear within Masadora.

These special NPCs, led by Jigsaw, consisted of the thousand or so people from Redstone City who had been executed in the Saw realm. These NPCs would seamlessly integrate into Masadora's lore, with even the Greed Island GMs believing them to be common criminals transferred from the outside world.

These NPCs couldn't have their memories read, nor could they reveal anything about Redstone City or the World Government. Moreover, they remained under Jigsaw's control.

Finally, by merging a fragment of the Hunter X Hunter realm, Rosen gained partial control over it.

He could now set his identity, freely enter or exit, and convert anything in Masadora into extraordinary items by spending spiritual energy.

In Greed Island, players could seal ordinary objects into cards, some of which were highly valuable both in the Hunter X Hunter world and as extraordinary items in reality. Masadora's department store, in particular, sold a variety of useful tool cards and spell cards.

Rosen had selected Masadora mainly because of its department store and its strategic location.

Although Rosen couldn't leave Masadora, players frequently traveled to the city to acquire spell cards, allowing him to interact with Nen users from the outside world. This meant he could indirectly access all of Greed Island's resources.

Opening the Main God computer's spiritual realm interface, Rosen saw that he had a reserve of 1,160 units of spiritual energy.

This energy had accumulated over the three months it took for Saw 1 to materialize, collected from the ordinary people who had entered the realm. While it couldn't be used to activate new virtual realms, it could be converted into crystallized spiritual essence or exchanged for extraordinary resources in Masadora.

Crystallized spiritual essence was the common currency among extraordinary Sequences, but Rosen had no means of trading it yet.

Without hesitation, Rosen chose to exchange some of Masadora's resources. Instead of opting for magical tools or spell cards, he spent 100 units of spiritual energy to materialize one kilogram of pure gold.

Additionally, he used another 60 units of spiritual energy to exchange for 60 sheets of drawing paper from the department store.

Once the exchanges were completed, a kilogram of pure gold and a stack of drawing paper materialized on his desk.

For convenience, Rosen had the gold form into card-like bars, each weighing ten grams. He carefully stored the gold cards and picked up a sheet of spiritual drawing paper to create another spiritual artwork.

Opening the window, Rosen looked across the street at Rose Castle and began sketching the scene.

If he wanted to acquire a Sequence 9 Hunter potion, his best option was the Blazing Shaow Trading House. The trading house was under the direct control of the Grand Duke of Blazing Shaow, with branches throughout the duchy. Even Redstone's city lord could only collect a small portion of the taxes from its operations.

In the entire Blazing Shaow Duchy, only the Grand Duke himself had the power to mass-produce Sequence 9 extraordinary resources.

Each state's strength within the World Government was determined by the level of potion resources it could mass-produce. A duchy that could produce Sequence 9 potions was considered strong; a kingdom produced Sequence 8 resources, and an empire could mass-produce Sequence 7 resources.

Potions beyond Sequence 7 were beyond mass production, even for the World Government.

This was because all extraordinary resources required spiritual energy to cultivate. The higher the Sequence level, the more spiritual energy was required, making the resources more difficult to produce. The crucial distinction in the world of extraordinary Sequences lay between Sequence 7 and Sequence 6.

With enough resources, even someone with average talent could reach Sequence 7.

But without proper aptitude, taking a Sequence 6 potion would result in catastrophic failure, leading to the collapse of one's extraordinary essence and certain death.

This was why only those who reached Sequence 6 were granted noble titles by the World Government. To earn a hereditary title, one had to perform notable feats or contributions.

As evening approached, Rosen finished his vibrant, lifelike drawing of Rose Castle.

He placed the drawing on the wall as a small memento.

As darkness fell, he opened the door of the mysterious study and stepped into the second-floor bedroom of the villa across from Rose Castle. Using his enhanced physical abilities, Rosen quietly scaled down the building and made his way toward the Blazing Shaow Trading House via a discreet path, avoiding attention.
