Lord Evolution: Starting With SS-rank Skills

Chapter 326: Sanosa (3/)

In Laverena's pocket world, the two women chattered for a very long time, paying no heed to how much time had passed. They discussed things like long-lost friends, even though the disparity in their identities was vast.

A goddess being friendly with a mere human was unheard of. If Riela were to be an Archmage or higher, one might consider it possible, but she was just a beginner-stage mage attempting her first major breakthrough.

If others heard about this, they wouldn't believe it unless they witnessed it with their own eyes.

"Ahhh, it's been eons since I had such a nice conversation," Laverena sighed, a sound of pure contentment.

Riela simply smiled, understanding her. Having spoken to Laverena for a long time, even before meeting her, she knew how introverted the goddess was.

"You never asked why I actually brought you here," Laverena pointed out.

"Was that necessary?" Riela replied with a gentle shrug. "I thought you simply wanted to chat, which I could understand."

"Haha, you're truly different. My last disciple, over a thousand years ago, requested so many things after meeting me. But you haven't asked for anything at all." Laverena's smile was warm and genuine.

"Well, one of the reasons I summoned your soul here is because this was the only chance I could do so without going against certain divine verdicts. The next time we might be able to see each other would be when you have your next major breakthrough," she continued, her tone becoming more serious.

"The second reason is to present a warning," she concluded. "Actually, two warnings," she quickly added.

Riela's heart skipped a beat. "Warnings? Am I in danger? Is Rowan in danger?" For a goddess to summon a mortal to warn them, the reason had to be serious.

"The first one involves your village. In a few days, a great army will descend, and a large-scale war will begin," Laverena began. "Naturally, I wouldn't have had to invite you here to warn you if Rowan were around. He could easily vanquish the entire army with a simple flick of his wrist. Nonetheless, now that he is not around, your village is in danger."

As Riela listened, her face quickly contorted with worry.

She recalled the joyful state the village was in just as she attempted her breakthrough. The thought that their peace would soon be shattered filled her with dread.

'I can act on these warnings to prevent casualties and emerge victorious. Rowan would be proud of me,' she thought, her mind already racing with possibilities.

She turned to meet the goddess's gaze, her curiosity now focused on the second warning.

Sensing her question, Laverena's expression became more somber.

"Your husband is in dire danger," she said. The single sentence drained the color from Riela's face, and her heart pounded against her ribs.

"Rowan is in trouble."

Riela couldn't sit comfortably anymore; the new information was a weight on her shoulders.

Laverena simply nodded. "He has actually been in trouble for a very long time, but I could not share such details with you due to restrictions. However, within my pocket world, those restrictions are mildly lifted, so I can share them with you."

Riela nodded, her mind processing the information, but her worry remained evident on her pale face.

"Please, tell me everything," she pleaded, her voice trembling slightly.

Laverena obliged, explaining the danger Rowan was in.

As Riela listened, her face grew paler, and she trembled with a mix of fear and worry.

"Are those things really going to happen?" she asked, her voice barely a whisper.

"Sadly, yes," Laverena nodded, her expression filled with empathy.

"T-that..." Riela lowered her head and muttered in a low tone.

Those terrible things... they were going to happen to her beloved in the future.

What could she possibly do to stop it?

Even if she tried, how could she go against the verdict of a divine being—one that even Laverena was scared to speak about, let alone annoy?

Even if she became stronger, she could never achieve such a thing.

"Does that mean... I would lose Rowan?" Her voice trembled at the mere thought. How could she possibly live without him?

Laverena sat still, allowing her disciple to process the heavy information.

Although she appeared calm, her heart was also in turmoil—a feeling she hadn't experienced in ages. She, an immortal who had existed for eons, had begun to care for the well-being of a single human. It was frightening to imagine, yet she couldn't stop herself from worrying about him.

It was forbidden for goddesses to intervene in certain events. Yet, she had risked her divine powers multiple times to prevent things from happening to Rowan.

The only reason she even warned Riela about the incoming war was because she didn't want Rowan's hard work to be reduced to nothing.

She cared.

And it scared her.

Since she couldn't stop herself from caring, she figured it would be best to act in the best way possible while avoiding divine punishment.

Maybe one day, Rowan would surpass the Earth's limits and become an immortal like her. Then she could speak to him directly, without using Riela as a middleman.

After pondering about the issue for a short while, she called her disciple's name and began advising her.

"I didn't tell you to worry, but to create an awareness. From time to time, I will communicate ways we could be of help," she said.

Riela's worries decreased a bit.

But a question appeared in her mind, and she asked, "Why do you actually care for Rowan so much?"

Laverena was startled by the sudden question. Honestly, she had no answer herself. Many times, she had asked herself the same thing and couldn't come up with a proper explanation.

"Because you are my favorite disciple, and I don't want you to be sad, as sadness is a major killer of creativity," she lied smoothly.

Her true answer to that question was unknown even to her.

Riela thought about her response. Although she felt there was something more to it, she nodded her head in agreement and smiled.

The two women discussed things for another long period of time.

With an emotional parting moment, Riela was sent back to her reality, leaving the goddess alone in her pocket world.

Laverena stared at the spot where she had disappeared for a short while before heaving a long sigh.

"Ah, I forgot to tell her to let Rowan know I was helping. How would he even realize it's me?...Ugh, why do I even care? What am I thinking?"
