Chapter 324: Demon Lair (10/)
[-1% health]
[-1% Attack power]
[-1% Defense]
The same string of notifications repeated, over and over. Rowan felt his strength and vitality draining. He had lost more than thirty percent of his health, strength, and defense. As his vitality weakened, so did his ability to see in his present situation.
Just then, he received a new notification.
[ Your friend has sent a package. ]
Not wasting a single second, Rowan opened the package sent by D'andre, spotting the health and strength-boosting potions. Instantly, his eyes widened, not from shock, but from excitement.
He did not hesitate as he quickly consumed two of the potions.
[ Health has returned to 100% ]
[ Attack power has returned to 100% ]
Those two notifications popped up barely seconds before the string of negative notifications revealed themselves again.
But this time, he didn't care. As his vitality returned to peak condition, his Eclipse Vision also returned, allowing him to perceive the location of the demon insects, who currently hovered in the air, continuously spewing the same Bloodfog from their bodies.
'It seems they can't use another skill while their group skill is activated,' he noted, and then launched himself at them.
Like a rocket launched from a rocket launcher, he found his first opponent. He twisted his hands and swung the Soul Harvester, resulting in a blade arc that slashed the torsos of three demon insects simultaneously. The sharpness and speed brought instant death.
[ You've slayed x3 Demon Insects... ]
As the corpses of the three slain demon insects landed, he delivered a series of blade arcs at other demon insects.
[ You've slayed x4 Demon Insects... ]
[ You've slayed x2 Demon Insects... ]
[ You've slayed x3 Demon Insects... ]
In barely ten seconds, he had already managed to take down more than twenty demon insects.
At the same time, his attack power and health had fallen to 90%, and his overall defense had fallen to 56%. His only luck was that none of the demon insects were attacking. Otherwise, he would be at a great disadvantage.
He opened his inventory and drank two more potions, regaining his health and attack power, and instantly launched another onslaught.
This time, his onslaught paid off.
[ You've defeated 50% of Hive ]
[ Potency of Hive skill has weakened. ]
[ New effect: All entities exposed to the Bloodfog will continuously lose -1% Health, -1% Attack Power, and -1% Defense per 2 seconds. ]
[ Effect will no longer be doubled ]
Rowan scanned through the information without letting his guard down. After he was done, he continued his onslaught, and after about thirty seconds, he felled the last demon insect. With a low screech, the last demon insect landed on the ground.
Immediately it landed, the bloodfog began to dissipate, gradually clearing the three comrades' vision.
Rowan landed on the ground and turned in the direction of his two comrades. D'andre could be seen feeding a healing potion to Colt.
He witnessed as the formerly pale Colt gained vitality and coughed back to consciousness. His eyes fluttered open, and he jumped to his feet.
"Those demons... where are they?" he barked as he clenched his dagger. Nevertheless, his eyes fell on the heaps of demon insect corpses lying on the ground and then on Rowan standing in their midst.
"You... how?" his voice trailed off.
Rowan simply shrugged and refused to respond. His eyes swept down to the dagger in Colt's grasp, and he found it difficult to hold back a sigh.
D'andre responded to Colt and summarized how the battle went.
"You really did that for me?" Colt asked.
"Of course," D'andre responded with a smile. "It would be unrighteous of me to watch a comrade die when I can help."
Colt simply stared at him. "When we are done clearing this demon lair, I will return the favor."
"You don't have to. Clearing the demon lair with us is already considered a favor."
"I insist. I would not be able to live happily if I don't return the favor."
"Okay then. I'll expect something from you."
"Deal." Colt lifted his hand for a handshake.
On the other hand, Rowan couldn't help but think, 'If it were me, I would request his dagger. What is this self-righteous bastard even thinking?'
"This battle was draining; we should rest for some time and recuperate before we continue," D'andre suggested.
Colt easily agreed. Rowan also agreed. He knew how taxing it must have been for D'andre. Also, if it weren't for his package, he might not have succeeded against the demon insects. Agreeing to relax was his way of showing his appreciation.
The three of them found a neat spot far from the heaps of demon insect corpses and sat down.
D'andre brought out food from his inventory and shared it with them. He produced two large-sized pizzas and three cans of unlabeled sodas.
Rowan's heart skipped a beat excitedly as the snacks appeared.
Pizza was one of his favorite meals in his previous life, and ever since he transmigrated, he had never once imagined he would be able to get his hands on it. With a soda combo, he would definitely kill for them.
Colt, on the other hand, had only seen pizza and soda for the first time; his reaction was strange but natural.
After taking a slice of pizza, especially with the satisfying cheese pull, his eyes widened, and he quickly devoured the slice.
"What is this called?" he asked as he greedily picked up another slice of pizza.
"It's called the Cheese Wheel of Destiny, and that can contains a delicious drink called the Fizzing Potion of Delight," D'andre introduced with a grin. "You can't find any of these anywhere else in the world."
"Cheese Wheel of Destiny and Fizzing Potion of Delight?" Colt's eyes widened at the extraordinary names. "From the taste, it truly deserves the name!"
"Of course, of course, hehe! Kings have fought themselves to get their hands on these delicious cuisines!" D'andre bragged as he popped open a can of soda.
Rowan could only watch the two of them with a blank expression.
