Lord Evolution: Starting With Overpowered Sacrifice System

Chapter 67: Legendary-grade skills (2)

Ragnar decided—since he already had enough skills in his inventory and Noah only had one, he would let Noah have one of the legendary skills.

The reason was simple: Noah's current standing in the eyes of everyone, including the new people they met at the 11th Hamlet, was that of his assistant, his right-hand man. And Ragnar had decided to make his right-hand man even stronger.

Secondly, Noah had become a friend he could not afford to lose.

Ragnar stared at the two legendary skill scrolls lying atop the pile of canned food.

"Noah, pick one of these scrolls," he said.

Noah, who had previously been trying out the sword, turned to look at Ragnar before bringing his gaze down to the scrolls on the ground. He strolled closer and grabbed one of them.

Noah recalled how he had activated the previous skill scroll and tore the one in his hand in two. Just like the first one, the scroll erupted into a small explosion of light and disappeared.

Ragnar's eyes widened as he saw the description of the new skill. A magic sword skill, and from a rare element, no less. It was more than incredible.

While Ragnar was able to see the details of the new skill, Noah received the entire knowledge of it—including how to activate it, how it operates, and other details that even Ragnar might have missed.

"T-this..." he was speechless.

A lightning element. He could now use an element that was rare even in fairy tales and legends. Even in Old Man James's tales about powerful knights, only a tiny amount of them possessed lightning element affinity, and those people achieved more feats than any other knight.

With a dazed stare, he picked the sword from the ground and then slowly muttered the activation words, "Static Strike."

BZZZZ

At that moment, the sword in his grasp began to buzz with visible blue electricity. It sparked across the sharp blade of the sword, lighting up the area around the two of them.

With wonder and excitement, Noah lifted his head to meet Ragnar's gaze. Just like him, Ragnar had an amazed expression on his face.

"This is wonderful," Ragnar exclaimed.

He moved closer to examine the skill that was still activated in the grasp of his friend and he could not stop himself from becoming even more amazed. This is unique, he thought.

"Thank you very much," Noah's voice softened as he displayed his appreciation.

"Why are you thanking me?" Ragnar asked with a soft smile.

"Because you could've easily taken all the skill scrolls for yourself and you could've been the owner of this amazing skill. But you decided to share it with me. I am very grateful," Noah's voice was laced with sincerity.

"We both suffered for these rewards. If you weren't by my side, I am not sure I would've been able to survive these battles unscathed. You deserve these and everything that would come in the future," Ragnar said.

A smile blossomed on Noah's face, which was illuminated by the lightning buzzing on his blade. Then he said, "Why don't you check out your skill scroll? I am curious to see what you'll get."

"Right," Ragnar said.

He grabbed the other skill scroll and tore it without hesitating.

"This..." Ragnar's reaction quickly revealed the potency of his newly acquired skill to his buddy.

"What did you get?" Noah asked, curious.

Ragnar turned to him and explained the effect of his new skill with an amazed expression on his face.

"Wow, a skill that reduces the defense, attack, and perception of enemies! That is great!" Noah exclaimed. "If we had them in this battle with the goblins, they would have stood no chance against us."

"Exactly my thoughts," Ragnar exclaimed.

He was extremely excited at this moment. All the skills he had obtained today were all magic skills, and both of them were related to necromancy, one of the unique rare affinities in the world.

With these two necromancy skills in his grasp, Ragnar knew there was a lot he could achieve with them.

'Imagine I use Corpse Animation on those monsterborn! They would wreak havoc on whatever enemies I face, be it humans, mutated beasts, or goblins,' he thought.

Nevertheless, while the corpse animation skill was good, it had a big disadvantage—it was temporary, he could not keep the undead soldiers for long.

"I can upgrade the skill with the three upgrade cards I received," he concluded.

"Noah, we need to get back to the people, they must be very worried about us," he turned to Noah and said.

"Yeah, let's go," Noah agreed.

Ragnar nodded. He opened his inventory.

Five new slots had been added following his last ascension from FF to F-rank. He stored the canned food, agile boots, and the other items in them.

Then the two of them strolled towards the Hamlet.

The moonlight bathed down on the bloodied battlefield, also assisting the two youths into the Hamlet.

At the usual meeting spot, the people of the tenth Hamlet were gathered around the wounded men. They brought water from their houses and used clean cloths to clean their wounds.

Their worried cries could be heard as they inquired about the well-being of the three men who winced in pain.

At the same time, they were curious about the well-being of their beloved warriors.

"Do you think they would win?" A worried woman asked.

"Of course they would," one elderly woman quickly replied. "The ancestors are with them. He would ensure their safety."

"Yeah, the ancestors would not bring Ragnar back alive just to kill him off again," another added.

"They have been able to hold down the goblins at the border. That is the only reason they are not in the Hamlet right now. If they had managed to get past the two of them, our hamlet would be destroyed just like five years ago."

"Ahh, that attack five years ago. I lost my brother in that attack and even lost my hut. I hope those goblins get what they deserve."

The people continued speaking among themselves.

Merlina was silent. She prayed fervently that the ancestors would guide the two of them back to her. She could not do without them.

Old Man James, Kendrick, and Roger listened but did not respond. They too were also worried.

They were firsthand victims of the goblins. They knew how difficult it was for them to even fight the simpler goblin warrior.

Also, they knew how disastrous the undead goblins were—a group of monsters that had experienced death and came back to life through dark magic. They were powerful and they fought with no single fear of death and pain.

"Would Ragnar and Noah survive?" That question appeared in their heads at the same time.

A few minutes passed and the people were still worried and discussing the whereabouts of the two.

Just then, two figures were spotted from afar, strolling towards them.

At first, the people became vigilant, thinking they were goblins as the figures were not clear.

But after a few seconds, as the two grew closer, they realized it was their beloved warriors.

"They are back!"

They erupted into loud cheers. With excited faces, they rushed towards Ragnar and Noah.

"The ancestors are indeed worthy, they kept you two alive!"

"The goblin bastards have been defeated. Our Hamlet is safe."
