Chapter 95 – Garl the Troublemaker II

Crowne entered the guild. Yesterday he did not have the chance to meet Ruth because her meeting with Marquess Orion lasted until night. Today she had already arranged a schedule to meet, but it was in the late afternoon.

In the morning, Crowne came to the guild. He kept his promise with Lyrica, Gorhan, and Meya. He walked toward the same table. But as he walked in that direction, he heard the voices of several people whispering and laughing. When Crowne turned his head, they immediately stopped and looked away.

Crowne felt that something was strange, but he ignored it. He sat in the same chair as yesterday, waiting for Lyrica's party to arrive.

"I thought I was late. Turns out they have not arrived," Crowne said as he looked around.

He then leaned back and began resting.

However, an hour passed, yet Lyrica, Meya, and Gorhan still did not show up. Crowne turned toward the entrance door, but there were no signs of their presence there. Crowne felt a bad premonition.

"Did something happen to them?" he murmured.

He decided to wait a little longer. He waited until another hour passed. Crowne even ended up standing. It crossed his mind that Lyrica and her party might have canceled this mission because something urgent came up.

However, he rejected that thought. He was sure they were not the type who would cancel something without confirming first.

Crowne walked toward the receptionist desk. "Is there any message left for me from Lyrica?"

The receptionist immediately shook her head. "There is none."

Crowne fell silent for a few seconds. He thought hard. He looked behind him and then quickly looked back at the receptionist.

"May I ask for information about where they live?" Crowne asked.

"I am sorry. We cannot do that," the receptionist firmly replied. That was a rule they had. A place of residence was considered privacy. "If you want, try asking other adventurers. We never record the home addresses of our members."

The receptionist was lying. She simply did not trust Crowne.

Crowne could only let out a sigh. He returned to his seat. He sat there for quite a long time. Waiting again. But he immediately stood after sitting for around ten minutes. He walked toward the exit door, but at that exact moment he heard someone whisper.

"... what an idiot. He will never find that stupid girl. That girl will end up as a slave."

Crowne stood still for a few seconds. He and Lyrica or the two members of her party did not have any real connection. They were not even friends. They had not even done a single thing together. However, Crowne hated anything that smelled like oppression or abuse.

"Maybe what I do is also a form of oppression, but if bastards like them are not taught a lesson, they will never realize that what they are doing is wrong," Crowne muttered.

He took a deep breath. Dwarfwood Chainblade appeared in his hand. He glanced to the right.

[Wind Stap Slash activated!]

Traaaaang!

Crowne unleashed a slash. A very powerful slash. It produced an extremely strong gust of wind. Chairs, tables, and the adventurers nearby were flung away by the slash. However, the slash was stopped by someone. Crowne glanced and saw a woman wearing armor standing in front of him.

"Why did you stop me?"

"In this adventurer guild, no one is allowed to kill each other. And you are not a God who has the right to take the life of another human," the woman firmly said.

Crowne withdrew his sword. He glanced at the three men who had fallen to the floor. Their faces were pale, but they looked like they were smiling proudly, as if they had won because they survived that slash. If the attack had not been stopped, their bodies would have been sliced in half.

Crowne looked again at the woman who had stopped his attack. "They sold my friend to a slave trader. Can people like that still be forgiven?"

The woman fell silent. She looked at the three rank B adventurers who Crowne wanted to kill. All three of them shook their heads, denying Crowne's accusation. The woman quickly looked back at Crowne. She sheathed her sword again.

"Do you have proof?"

Crowne could not answer because he did not have any proof, but he believed strongly that what he believed was true. Crowne looked again at the three adventurers. His eyes were sharp, trying to intimidate them. The three looked frightened, but they still did not confess the truth.

"If you do not have proof, you have no right to do any of this," the woman firmly said again.

Crowne gripped his weapon tightly. At that moment, a blade pointed toward him. The woman aimed her weapon at him, warning him not to do what he intended to do. In the end, Crowne stored the Dwarfwood Chainblade away.

He turned around. "If I find proof, I will kill them," he declared.

"You are not God. Do not act excessively."

Crowne only gave her a brief glance and immediately walked toward the exit. He opened the door and walked out. He was no longer visible.

The woman who stopped Crowne's attack turned toward the three rank B adventurers. She extended her hand, offering help to them.

"Are you all alright?" she asked.

Braasssh!

Suddenly, blood sprayed from the chests of the three adventurers. A slash had cut across their chests. The woman's eyes widened, shocked by what she saw. She had not seen any attack at all.

"How could this happen?"

She quickly turned toward the door. Crowne was no longer there. She felt that the slash was done by Crowne, but logically that made no sense. She was absolutely sure she had been watching Crowne closely. She should have been able to see his movements.

"Unless he has a speed beyond what my eyes can track."

But she quickly shook her head. That was impossible because even a rank S adventurer did not possess such speed. This only confused her even more. She felt that Crowne used some sort of trick, but she had no idea what it was.

The woman looked again at the three rank B adventurers. "If he could do this, then he could have killed them too. Why did he not..."

The woman furrowed her brows. She sensed something odd. She felt this was a clue to how the three adventurers were injured.

"... did that man use a curved slash?" She shook her head and swallowed hard. "If that is true, then that means his swordsmanship is equal to Sir Benson."

The woman looked again toward the door. Her eyes were serious. "Who was that man? Is he a rank S adventurer?"
