Chapter 34: Weekend Routine
No need to say much, there's only one group that keeps repeatedly showing up at Filch's office in such a short time: the Weasley twins, whom Allen had only just met yesterday.
Allen held the highest respect for the Weasley brothers' reckless antics, but had zero intention of copying them. Not everyone had the courage to challenge authority like that. In some ways, Filch was even scarier than Professor Snape, at least Snape sometimes smiled at Slytherins, but Filch treated all students with equal coldness.
After greeting Filch, Allen made his way over to Mrs. Norris, once again thanking the Hogwarts house-elves, Mrs. Norris was very pleased with the fish treats. This seemed to put Filch in a good mood, a rare smile crossing his face as he scolded the twins.
The twins saw a glimmer of hope, maybe Filch was in such a good mood that they'd be let off the hook?
A moment later, they learned firsthand what "different people, different fates" really meant, and they were once again sent to clean a classroom. But this time, Filch prepared to supervise personally, while Allen,
"Allen, I think Mrs. Norris's fur looks a bit dull these days. Could you take her out to bask in the sun?"
"The honor is mine, sir.", Setting aside the issue of tattling, Mrs. Norris was a proper cat, exuding feline elegance, which meant when sunbathing, she wouldn't move about much, just lazily rolling over like only cats can.
For Allen, that meant a whole morning of leisure under the perfect sunshine. Thanks, Dumbledore. If it had been Snape supervising, Allen would probably be stuck in some dank basement handling disgusting animal entrails.
As for the twins, keep grinding those dungeons. With enough runs, legendary gear will drop! Trust me, Filch's dungeon does drop one-of-a-kind orange epic gear! If you don't farm enough, how else will you get your graduation equipment and the unlock map? And as for punishments, if you don't even need an abyss ticket anymore, why worry?
Holding a favorite book, not one gifted by the shopkeeper, Allen sat on Hogwarts' lawn enjoying a perfect morning of sunshine, with a cat curled up nearby (though not his own). This was every kid's dream childhood.
Even now, Allen was very satisfied with such moments, though he wouldn't mind a late-night red-sleeve reading session, especially if the "red sleeves" could professionally critique that shop owner's harmful reading material.
But, as we know, whenever the protagonist is happiest, villains appear to interrupt the peace.
Not because Allen wears a mocking face, nor because the villains received an SSS-level mission to kill him and stage a comeback, but because Allen truly managed to offend the entire Slytherin house. Though smallest in number, Slytherin still made up one-sixth of the school population.
If Hogwarts were a public school, Allen might have been gifted a system hero, Yasuo.
Why? He'd pissed off one-sixth of the entire school.
Shoe-throwing, chair-hiding, book-throwing, even putting nails on chairs were just appetizers. After school, you might get a close encounter with the toilet. Theft was daily life, beatings routine, in short: making sure you couldn't survive.
What's the connection to Yasuo?
Boy, Death is like the wind, always by my side. In that situation, all you can do is face the storm!
Anyway, although Dumbledore strictly forbade upperclassmen from interfering with underclassmen, this didn't stop the Slytherins from tattling, once they spotted Allen, they notified the first-years.
This didn't change much, except Allen didn't have to worry about today's "first win" anymore.
But today was different from before, the failed Slytherin attackers got punished.
Filch took full responsibility, because Mrs. Norris was present, this was considered a challenge to the authority of the caretaker.
"Allen! You damn Mudblood!" snarled a furious Slytherin informant.
Though Allen wasn't exactly sure what the word meant, it didn't affect his reaction.
"Hand over your wand!"
The spell was easily dodged. Although Allen didn't know the attacker's grade, by height he was definitely third year or above.
But so what?
Even if he got knocked down, Allen knew Dumbledore would back him up, so why hold back?
Growing older was the greatest strength for a wizard, even with system help, without using system powers, it was tough to handle unknown extras.
After a few exchanges, the Slytherin grew desperate, he'd been trying to defeat a first-year for a long time and failed. That would be a disgrace if it got out!
After Allen repelled several spells with a Shield Charm, the Slytherin bit his lip and began casting a family curse spell, though it could bring severe school punishment, he didn't care. If he couldn't take down this kid today, tomorrow he'd be the shame of Slytherin.
Just as Allen prepared to use his protective shield to block the spell and finish off the opponent, a Stunning Spell suddenly flew in from the side, knocking out the Slytherin caster.
Damn! Who stole my kill?
Although the system only awarded coins for the first win, defeating a Slytherin bumped Allen's nearly unmovable XP bar a tiny bit, though he was still far from level 2. No idea what leveling up might bring, but more summoner skills couldn't hurt!
Too bad, no XP was gained from stolen kills, a fact Allen discovered when petrifying a defeated foe.
Annoyed, he looked up at the interloper, and the face looked familiar.
Especially that trademark red hair and light freckles.
"Slytherin attacks first-years, minus ten points!" The man's badge caught Allen's eye.
His identity was obvious.
"So you're the one who can hold your own against a fifth-year? You must be Allen, I've heard plenty about you from Fred and George. You really are a great kid."
"I'm Charlie, Fred and George's older brother. Nice to meet you."
Great. Another Weasley, and the helpful kind at that…
