Mina sat in the detention center back at the Business Park police precinct. Her proverbial heart was beating quickly in her metaphorical mouth. In one day, she has gone from becoming the inspiration for a biopic to becoming a primo-murder suspect of the director of Legally Brunette, her own movie.
Sure, she has creative differences with Artie Decor, but they had worked them out. He had even hired her favorite actress, Hammy Award winner Anne Pathway to play her.
Maybe that was the problem. Flan her biggest fan felt so betrayed that the only possible response to being rejected was framing Mina for the most gruesome murder she had ever accounted for.
Everything verged on the DNA on the murder weapon, but she had grabbed that too.
Her friends and Ashley and Blind all observed her behind the one way glass. She wished so desperately to see their smiles but all there was was tinted black glass.
At last, the door opened and Rita and Sparky entered, both looking like the bearer of bad news.
"I'm sorry, Mina. The DNA on the knife is a match…" Rita said, her frozen face still managing to look sorrowful.
Even if she knew the answer, Mina's hand still came down on the table. "Lawd. I'm screwed," she muttered. "Can I please speak with an attorney…other than myself…"
Rita nodded and winked. "Of course. I'm surprised you forgot how the legal justice system works?"
Mina put her hand behind her head and chuckled bashfully. "I'm sorry. Being accused of a horrific murder makes me a bit forgetful. But can I please talk to Ashley and William?"

The two of them entered as quickly as they could. And not surprisingly, they both hugged their girlfriend. Tears rolled down Mina's cheeks as she felt the dual warmth from both. "Thank you guys," she said, sniffing. "I really needed you to be with me tonight."
"Of course, undergrad," Ashley smirked looking into Mina's glistening auburn eyes. "You were here for us at our worst."
"I'm so glad," Mina said. "I have both the handsomest and prettiest attorneys defending me from this nightmare."
"Love," Blind answered, a frown on his gallant face. "Did you forget something? As much as I'm going to be here for every waking hour of this case, both of us are prosecutors. We could serve as your defense attorney, but I'm afraid that's not what we went to Yarhard for."
"Oh right," Mina said, wiping both the snot and her tears from her face. "I totally forgot. I'm the defense attorney in this trio of lawful love! Oh lawd, this can't possibly get wors…"
"Heya kid!" a voice squawked as the door opened. "Are you forgetting somebody?!"
Raven moonwalked into the room, screeching in falsetto like either a banshee …or a Hee Bee Gee Bee disco singer! "Hah hah hah haa, I'm an attorney at law! Attorney at law!"
He pointed a gloved finger right at Mina. "I think it's time I return the favor for you, saving my butt and my marbles, kiddo! I may not look like it due to my endlessly youthful face, but I've served as DA for some truly gristly, obscene cases!!"
Mina nodded and smiled. It was true. She had heard the story of how he managed to put Jackie the Stripper behind bars..But perhaps it was best not to mention that murder case.
"Thank you, Raven," she said, holding her hands together. "Normally, I'd make a joke about how I shouldn't leave this case in the hands of a really wacky, chaotic defense attorney, but quite frankly, you're my mentor and I love you. Even with all the chaos we've been through together."
"Hey kid," Raven said, continuing to flash finger guns at his protege. "Chaos is my middle name. I legally changed it from Charles!"
Mina raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure that wasn't a waste of time?"
"Well," Raven said. "I'm a defense attorney. I can do whatever I want legally! And besides, it's an excellent conversation piece at parties."
Mina's beamed with her eyes shining at her mentor. "Well, I will put this case into your hands. Mr. Raven Chaos Lockwood!"
Raven tipped an imaginary hat at his mentor. "Anytime kid! When you're in the hands of Chaos, it's much more exciting anyway."
