Law of Tragedy

Zhi Hua followed behind the group quietly with the woman and Feng plus the teenager too. He told Feng not to do anything and helped to clear the zombies that they met on the way back to the apartment they secured. They were impressed by his skills to bash the heads in so resolutely and he attributed it to being a nomad saying he was inadequate. The woman was still shaking when she saw the zombies but it was better than her screaming her lungs out.

They eventually made it to the two floor apartment and he chose to stay on the second floor while they took the first floor. After settling in; everyone went there way promising to meet by 6pm for dinner. Zhi Hua examined the two rooms on the ground floor and coaxed Feng to go to one of the rooms first to take a shower and change clothes to which she obediently agreed.

"Are you feeling better miss...." Zhi Hua asked the woman kindly

"It's Min ji or you can call me Min. You really don't have to be so respectful" she said embarrassed

"It's always good to respect one's senior " Zhi Hua said seriously

"Then you don't need to worry" she said. Zhi Hua guessed it and realized that she was younger than her body meaning it transmigration not reincarnation. It also means that she can go back to her original world.

"Have you met any of the others" Zhi Hua asked

"No, you're the first person I've met. I'm lucky to meet such an experienced hero like you"she said excitedly.

He asked her a few more questions thoughtfully then separated from her with the excuse of taking a shower. He went to the room and found Feng sitting down on the bed in clothes she found that was slightly bigger and without the mask and hat; lost in thought.

"What could you be thinking about" Zhi Hua said

"I don't know who I should be. I know I don't have past memories or any at all so I just.... don't know" she said confused. Zhi Hua looked at the little girl surprised that she thought so complex. It might be due to her obedience to him that he forgot she was a person too.

"I'm not any better so I can't give you sound advice. All I can say is that it's okay" Zhi Hua said rubbing her head.

"I just took a shower" she said dodging his hand. Zhi Hua shook his head at the ungrateful brat and went to take a shower.

When he was out, he found Feng sleeping on the bed so he covered her with the blanket.

He sat on the other side of bed and thought about the conversation with Min. He couldn't get much information since she seemed restricted in that area but he got that there were a lot of people from her world here and they are competing to be the best 'hero' whatever that is and they are definitely not in support of the natives in this world. He thought that the situation could be interpreted as they are both competing for the main storyline of this world.

Well then where would that leave me. I honestly don't care for their game and the only thing that matters to me is going home. Zhi Hua thought about his goal and decided to take it step by step with the first step should be going to the world where Min is from. If they can easily jump worlds then they should have a way to go back or at least locate how to go back which means that he has to help Min win so that he can hijack her ride back. Zhi Hua gloomy face morphed it a lazy wicked smile as he thought that; anyway it sounds fun.

He stayed awake until dinner time thinking about a lot. He turned his gaze to Feng still asleep and quietly left the room to find them gathered in the kitchen. The highschooler distributed the food to all even Min; they asked about Feng but I explained she was asleep and I would give her share to her later.

"So can you explain more about where you want to go"Zhi Hua said after everyone was done eating.

The story was that they found a busted radio which was fixed by the mechanic then they heard of a safe place called Haven that was protected by the government. They packed up and chose to take a chance and they are not far from it.

Zhi Hua thought that the storyline is very cliche and the government obviously has ulterior motives but seeing their hopeful expression dissuaded him. Forget it, they wouldn't die anyway since they have protagonist halo so he kept quiet and observed.

They planned to set off early the next day so that they can make it by afternoon. He went back to his room and told Feng to keep watching for the night after explaining what they talked about and what he found out as she ate then he went to sleep.

Feng stared into the night then turned to observe the boy sleeping on the bed quietly. He looks gloomy and doesn't talk much but she finds that she feels very secure beside him and the confusion that plagues her about her existence becomes quiet. She found herself suddenly aware that she was alive and that he had to find her family. I didn't understand this place I found myself in , I just began to exist in a random place with the surface knowledge of where I am and why this place looked so destute. I knew I didn't belong here no I was different from this place, this people and I had to find someone so I searched random places until I found his corpse in the warehouse so I waited for what to do until I saw him breathing and the sense of relief was indescribable.

Now... I don't know but I feel secure when I'm around him like I exist even without any attachments so I will follow him until he becomes that attachment; my family even though I'm different from him too.

The next morning Zhi Hua woke up to two things; first he found Feng staring at him deeply with concentration and he flicked her forehead so that she looked away and second he heard the sound of rushing footsteps and moaning from zombies getting closer.

"There's a horde approaching. We need to move now" the mechanic said slamming the door open not even looking inside. They quickly wore the hat and mask and rushed outside followed by Min and found a useable car as they ran away. The mechanic hurriedly fixed the car and they squeezed in just as the horde reached them.
