Risotto's POV
It was late morning. Risotto was standing near the largest fountain in the central town square of Antokiba City, and beside him was his entire team. Kurapika and Prosciutto stood directly beside Risotto himself, while everyone else sat on the edge of the fountain.
'I don't even know what to think. Such a request is a bit unusual. What should I tell them?'
They had gathered in this square for a reason. Right now, Risotto stood silently pondering over what he thought was a slightly unusual request. It was a request that Gon and Killua had come to him with, and they were standing in front of him right now, waiting for an answer. In fact, that was the reason they had gathered in the square.
Risotto scratched the back of his head a little and spoke:
- Now, let's go over the matter again. You came to us because you need help with some sports games?
- Well, yes.' confirmed Gon.
- And you want one of us to help you win those games, right?
- Yes, I do. What's so strange?
- They're just sports games. What's so complicated that you need our help, apart from the fact that you need people to just let you in.
- You don't understand, these are unreal opponents! You're the only ones strong enough to stand up to them.
Risotto fell silent again. After scratching the back of his head for a while, he fell back into thought.
'Geez, what kind of opponents are there in these sporting events? Sure it's a bit weird, but that's not the main problem. The problem is that because of this, I'll have to send someone with them, which isn't very desirable in our situation. And that's what I'm supposed to tell them? I wouldn't say it's that critical, but still...'
While Risotto pondered on what answer to give Illuso decided to give his opinion:
- Let Melone and Formaggio go. They should be more than enough to win some sports games.
- Is it because we're such great athletes? - Formaggio asked smugly.
- No, it's because you're useless. If anything, we can manage without you here.
- You! - Formaggio got a little angry, but quickly calmed down and answered Illuso a little gloatingly, 'Well, at least we can do something, and unlike you we don't become disabled when there are no mirrors around.
Illuso was angry now, but he didn't reply, he just puffed up his cheeks and turned away. This little argument, however, gave Risotto a thought.
'There is something to this, after all. Melone and Formaggio are really only useful in certain situations, and if there's a head-on attack and an open fight is imposed, they'll have a hard time. But they can still be useful, it's not like I know exactly what situation might happen. Shit...'
- All right, I've made up my mind. You need two people, right? - Risotto asked Gon, and he nodded silently, 'Okay, in that case, Melone and Formaggio will go with you.
- Cool! Thank you very much! - Gon was happy.
- Well, what can I do... - Formaggio sighed heavily, - Let's go Melone. Let's be athletes for a while.
Melone and Formaggio walked over to the boys and using the map, moved somewhere.
'Well basically, they said it won't last long and they'll be back tomorrow, maybe even sooner. Let's just hope nothing bad happens.'
- So what are we going to do next? - Asked Kurapika to Risotto, 'Any assignments?
- Tasks... - Risotto thought for a moment, - No... I guess not. We don't really need anything right now.
- Well, let's get out of here. - Illuso said to everyone and stood up and walked slowly to the hotel, the others followed him.
***
The evening came. Risotto and the others went to the hotel dining room.
The dining room was quite small. There were about twenty rectangular tables, all of which were made from local woods and covered with white tablecloths. Not far from the tables were large windows that overlooked the already dark street, lit by the light of lanterns. It was also remarkable that the dining room was empty.
They had come here to have fun with each other. They joined the two tables and sat down at one big table and decided to play poker. The cards were dealt one by one.
The game was going quite smoothly, until Pesci won the third game in a row, after which Gyaccio suddenly burst out:
- 'What a bitch! - He shouted across the dining room, - How!.. For the third fucking game in a row, I've got the high card! How is that possible?! Whoever dealt the cards must have cheated!
- You were the one who dealt the cards, dickhead. - Illuso replied with a small chuckle.
Such a reminder made Gyaccio hit the table with anger and started gritting his teeth.
- Stop hitting the table! Just admit that you're losing not because the card sucks, but because you're a bad player. Even worse than Melone... Look at Pesci. He's acting like a real professional.
- By the way, Pesci,' said a slightly shocked Prosciutto, 'How are you playing like this? Third game in a row. How?
- I don't know, bro, - Pesci answered him, - It just happens somehow.
- Oh, Pesci, I wish I could do that.
After one more game, Risotto abruptly got up from the table and said:
- 'You guys play, I'm going to take a little rest. I'm bored.
Leaving the cards on the table, he sat down at another table that was next to the window and began to pensively admire the view of the street, occasionally glancing at the other guys.
'Today was surprisingly a fairly calm and carefree day. It's rare to have one where there's no work, assignments, or other problems. I wish it could be more often, but right now it's just a dream. Every day we live in anticipation of another attack, risking our lives, fighting... Is this life? No, it's definitely not the life we want.'
Sighing heavily he lowered his hands and head to the table.
'How tired I am... Sometimes I wish I could drop everything and just live like a normal person. But it's too soon... Right now the most brutal, and most important fight of my life is being fought. And if it were a fight with a man... But it's a fight with fate, and fate is much more cruel and unpredictable. But where will it all lead? Will I crush my opponent or will I be crushed? It's not that simple.'
- What a bitch! - Gyaccio shouted again somewhere behind him, it wasn't hard to guess what it was about.
Risotto raised his head and looked towards the rest of the guys and smiled slightly.
'However... As long as I have something to fight for I will go all the way. I will not back down and will come out victorious in this fight. I believe that.'
He turned his head towards the window again and looked outside, and this time he noticed something unusual. There was a man standing in the street, and as it seemed to Risotto he was looking in his direction. Because of the darkness he could not be seen properly, but he was tall and had the build of a bodybuilder. There was nothing particularly suspicious about his actions, until he simply disappeared, or rather it looked as if something had sucked him in.
What he saw made Risotto's eyes go wide and he jumped up from the table.
'What was that just now! No, I'm not sleepy enough to dream such a thing. He was definitely sucked in by something! It looks like it's...'
- All hands on deck! It looks like we're under attack! - He shouted to the others.
Everyone instantly jumped up from their seats and took up positions. Kurapika and Risotto stood a few metres away from each other, Illuso prepared to go into the looking glass, Giaccio jumped up on the table and looked around, Prosciutto and Pesci had their backs to each other and waited for the attack right in the middle of the dining room.
- What happened Risotto? What did you see? - Kurapika asked him.
- I don't know what it was, but it was definitely something bad. It's probably another Stand user. So keep your eyes open.
Kurapika looked at him for a few seconds with a slightly reproachful look and then said:
- I'll go check it out. - He pointed at the window.
- Just be careful.
As he was about to move, Kurapika somehow managed to trip and fall to the floor, which saved his life as the next moment the wall behind him was breached.
Gyaccio immediately turned towards the breached wall:
- What the...
As soon as he realised what had happened, he immediately rushed away from the table, and for good reason. In the next second, almost the entire table was gone.
Risotto, in the meantime, got down on the floor for safety's sake and started to crawl quickly to the corner. He was a little shocked by what had happened, but he still kept his cool and tried to understand what had happened.
'What the hell was that! That table that Gyacho was standing on... It almost all disappeared. It's like something disintegrated it in the blink of an eye. And the wall...'
He looked at the wall near where the thing had come from. A hole of perfect circumference was now gaping in it.
'What is it? Judging by the shape of that hole in the wall, we were attacked by a sphere about a metre in diameter that not only disintegrates everything it touches, but is invisible.'
Risotto had already crawled over to the corner and was leaning against the wall. Then Kurapika crawled up with Gyaccio, followed by Prosciutto and Pesci. Now they were all sitting together in one corner trying to figure out what to do.
- What the hell is this? - Asked Prosciutto.
- 'It's definitely a Stand,' Said Risotto, 'But there's a slight oddity. Did you notice it?
- Usually there's a dark aura from Stand users who attack us, but in this case I don't feel anything. It's like there's no one else here but us.
- Where's Illuso,' Pesci asked when he noticed the absence of one of his comrades.
- In the looking-glass, of course. - Prosciutto answered him, pointing his finger at the mirror lying on the floor in the middle of the dining room.
- I think I have realised something. - Suddenly Giaccio spoke, looking closely at the dining room, where in the meantime the furniture that was in the way of the mysterious enemy continued to disintegrate, and not infrequently the columns and walls were being dealt with.
- What have you learnt Gyaccio? - Kurapika asked.
- When that thing came at me, I noticed something. It... Damn, you can't explain it that easily. I'll show you.
- What do you mean, show me?
- Directly. Try not to freeze.
Giaccio put his hand on the wall and it began to ice up rapidly. However, almost all of the cold started travelling upwards, straight to the ceiling. The freeze spread more and more, gradually making the entire ceiling of the dining room look like a freezer wall. When enough snow and ice had accumulated on the ceiling, Gyaccio hit the wall with all his might, causing the accumulated snow to fall from the ceiling.
- I think I see what you're doing. Well done. - Risotto praised him.
Because of the falling snow it was now possible to see the sphere moving around the room, or rather to see its faint outlines.
- Great, now we can see it. But how do we fight it? - Kurapika asked a logical question.
- We need to find the user of the Stand, - answered Pesci with determination in his voice, - As I understand it, we can't damage this thing, so we need to destroy its owner.
- You're a little wrong, Pesci. - Said Risotto.
- А?
Risotto stared at the moving sphere. After comparing everything he had seen before, he finally understood its secret.
'You're good, Pesci. Good idea, but we won't even have to look for anyone. Back then, when I was sitting at the table, I saw that man on the street get sucked up, or even eaten by something. It didn't disintegrate him, I'm pretty sure of that. It's also attacking everything, which means it doesn't know where we are and it's moving erratically. But based on the last information the enemy received, it's sure we're here somewhere. It's all falling into place now.'
- We don't need to look for the enemy Pesci,' Risotto went on to say, 'Because the enemy is inside this sphere.
- What do you mean? - Everyone asked at once.
- Pesci, you better get ready to use your Stand. Look, this sphere is slowing down and it looks like someone is about to come out of it.
Indeed, as everyone looked in the direction of the orb, they noticed that it was beginning to slow down. Risotto signalled for everyone to get into position. Slowly and carefully they began to move closer. Pesci's main task was to pick up the enemy at the right moment and pull him out when he showed his face.
When the sphere finally came to a halt, Stand, or rather his head, which looked like a skull with two protruding horns and a mask like an executioner's bonnet, came out of it as if out of nowhere. The head had a big mouth from which his own body came out, which surprised everyone, and soon someone else's face appeared.
- Come on, Pesci! - Shouted Risotto.
Pesci reacted instantly and threw the rod into Stand's mouth and hit the face of the man inside, then immediately started to pull him out. With a little more effort, he was able to pull his head out.
- I'll help! - Said Kurapika and wrapped his chain around the man's neck and pulled with all his might.
Finally, with enough force they were able to pull the man out completely, and when he was still on his feet Risotto came running up to him with a mirror in his hands and shouted:
- Come on Illuso!
In the next instant the man was sucked into the mirror and the others began to enter the looking glass. When they all got inside they were able to get a normal look at their enemy.
'Yes, it's him! It's definitely the same guy I saw on the street!'
He was a tall, muscular man with wavy collarbone length hair. His outfit consisted of a dark waistcoat with leather tails and a long-sleeved open leotard. On his feet were dark boots to mid-shin. His trousers were missing.
- Where is my Stand? Why can't I summon it? - The man wondered, -You... One of you did it!
- Well done, I didn't doubt you,' Illuso said to everyone, 'Now we can finish him off without any problems.
- Don't relax. There's no telling what might happen. - Risotto warned the others.
Everyone began to surround the enemy and wait for the moment to attack, without losing caution. Risotto watched him carefully.
'He seems to be without the Stand now, but still... Something's bugging me. Something's wrong with him.'
He also noticed that everyone else wasn't exactly rushing to attack either. They probably noticed that something was wrong. Their opponent stood silently behind the ground and watched everyone carefully.
'He's also cautious, but there's no fear in him. He definitely has something else besides the Stand. I can feel it!'
Finally Kurapika decided to make the first move. He launched a chain at his opponent, but he had no problem repelling it with one hand. Illuso attacked next. He threw a few blows to his face with his Stand, but that didn't have much effect either.
- What?! - Illuso was surprised and pulled his Stand back closer to him.
- Something is definitely wrong with him. - Kurapika spoke up.
Taking advantage of his enemy's distraction, Prosciutto ran up to him and touched him, but it had little effect. Only a few wrinkles appeared on the man.
- What?! - Prosciutto was surprised.
Because he was confused, he was unable to react to the enemy's blow, which threw him back a few metres.
- Brother! - Shouted Pesci and ran to his aid.
Gyaccio decided to attack next. Materialising his ice armour, he engaged in close combat with the enemy. He landed a side kick and an uppercut to his head, but it didn't have much effect. All his opponent got was a little frostbite on his face. In response he threw a series of quick punches to the body, the ice armour was able to withstand it without any problems, but after one more punch Giaccio flew backwards, as well as Prosciutto. He was slowed down as Gyaccio had managed to freeze his hands and feet.
At the same time Risotto, Kurapika and Pesci ran up to Prosciutto, who was lying on the floor trying to recover from the blow.
- Bro, are you all right? - Pesci asked him.
- Cough, cough, cough, cough, cough, cough. Shit. It looks like he broke my rib... He's inhumanly strong.
- But what happened? Why didn't your aging affect him? - Kurapika asked him.
- When I touched him, I felt his skin was as cold as a corpse's. Do you understand? He's as cold as a fucking corpse! My aging will work very badly if a man is cold. You've seen the result of that, he's only got a couple of wrinkles on him. I'm not sure he's human at all.
Risotto at this time shifted his gaze to his enemy, who at this time was freeing himself from Gyaccio's icy shackles.
''To be honest, I now highly doubt that he's human too. After all, back when he was attacked by Prosciutto, I had already created several needles in his heart even then, and he doesn't care! This inhuman strength, and this survivability... He's definitely not human.'
- Pesci, use my Stand! Rip out his heart! - Risotto ordered.
Without hesitation, Pesci immediately threw the rod into the enemy who had just gotten rid of the ice shackles. He tried to block the attack but it was useless, and eventually the hook caught his heart and ripped it out of his chest.
- That's it, he's finished! - Kurapika rejoiced.
- Don't jump to conclusions. - Risotto snapped at him.
Everyone was shocked in one way or another when they saw how their enemy was still standing on his feet despite having his heart ripped out. Though it was obvious that he was getting worse.
'What kind of monster is he?'
- He can be defeated. - Kurapika suddenly said.
- What? Risotto didn't understand him.
- I know what to do. Just watch.
Full of determination, Kurapika walked towards the enemy, while the others just watched what would happen next. As he approached at point-blank range, the enemy tried to attack him, but as soon as he swung, Kurapika's Stand immediately struck him in the face with a lightning strike, leaving a burn on his face. The [Speed King] then launched a hail of blows at the man, leaving him burned and causing the blood beneath his skin to boil, causing bubbles to appear all over his body. Soon Kurapika stopped striking and stepped back a few metres. Even though the injuries were so incompatible with life for a normal person, the man still stood, even though it was obvious that he was in a lot of pain.
- That's it, we've won,' Kurapika said confidently, 'Finish him off Gyacho.
- With great joy.
Meanwhile Gyacho had already gone behind his enemy's back and before he could realise anything he had grabbed his head with both hands and it began to rapidly turn to ice, whereupon Gyacho shattered it into tiny shards with a single blow.
'Not bad. Kurapika took advantage of the fact that the enemy was a bit weaker after having his heart ripped out and went into close combat. His attacks weakened him further and made him lose his guard, which Gyaccio took advantage of by attacking from the back. Good move.'
Finally, the enemy was defeated. Risotto and Pesci helped Prosciutto to his feet, after which Illuso transported everyone to the real world.
The aftermath of the battle was far from pleasant. Almost all the furniture in the dining room was destroyed, the walls were like a colander, the ceiling was completely frozen and the floor was covered in a layer of snow. Although everyone was well aware that it could have been worse.
- Who the hell was that, anyway? - Asked Illuso, - Ordinary people don't live when their heart is ripped out.
- The hell he knows, but it wasn't a human being. - Kurapika said.
- What if it was a vampire? - Pesci suggested.
- Don't talk rubbish, Pesci, there's no such thing as vampires. - Prosciutto rebuked him.
- Come on, let's get out of here. We'll talk about this later. - Risotto said to everyone and headed outside.
'Well, this is quite a night. We planned to have fun, but it turned out to be the same as always. Now I can't sleep. I should check the street just in case he wasn't alone.'
