Is It Wrong to Abusing Cartoon Tropes in Dungeon?

Chapter 115: 115 Commentator

Becoming stronger is a goal shared by most adventurers. In the city of adventurers, being stronger means doing better in Orario, gaining higher status, earning more benefits, and making it easier to get even stronger.

In short, in Orario, becoming stronger is a necessary condition for a virtuous cycle!

No matter what you want to do, in Orario, you have to get stronger!

Bete, the werewolf, is one of those adventurers who desperately seeks strength. He doesn't just want to become stronger for himself—he even despises others who don't put in the effort. That's why, when he's criticizing others, the word he uses the most is "useless."

When Bete met Altair in the dungeon and heard about the legends surrounding him, he actually made it happen. The so-called "Shura Kick," which truly killed the Earth Dragon with one kick, helped him level up to LV6. He even gained the incredibly powerful "Shura Kick" skill.

This was certainly something that made Bete extremely happy, but the problem with the skill was that although it was powerful, it had limitations. It was a skill that drained his own power, allowing for an intense burst of strength for a short period. Now that he was LV6, when he activated the skill, all his stats would rise to LV7 for a short time. In a one-on-one fight, Bete would become the strongest in Loki's Familia once he activated the "Shura Kick"!

But there was a downside. The skill lasted only for a minute. After the minute passed, while it wouldn't be as extreme as when he first used it, his body would still enter a weakened state, and his combat strength would plummet.

With Bete's LV6 physical stats, the power spike from the skill would bring him to the peak of LV7, but once he entered the weakened state, his combat power would drop to less than LV3.

Thus, Finn had told Bete to continue using his usual fighting style most of the time, only permitting the use of the "Shura Kick" against critical enemies like floor bosses.

This was all fine; Bete didn't mind. It meant he became the ultimate weapon for the Familia's expeditions, a great position for any strong adventurer.

But after seeing Ais come back and unleash a devastating tornado with one sword strike, and Tiona conjure a shield wall and a sweeping sword wave, Bete's thoughts changed.

These two had also grown stronger under the guidance of his strange fan. While they hadn't yet reached LV6, it was only a matter of time before they did. Once they reached LV6, their regular combat ability would far surpass his, because without using his "Shura Kick," Bete wouldn't have any stat advantage over them, and their combat skills were superior to his.

This couldn't happen! He was Bete the Demonwolf now, no longer the weak "Werewolf" from before. He needed to get stronger!

So, Bete approached Altair, who had just left the office. The consecutive events had made Bete realize that this little fan of his possessed a miraculous power. The things Altair said, especially the combat techniques, could manifest into reality—his "Shura Kick," Ais's Gale Swordsmanship, and Tiona's Tempest Sword Art were all proof of this!

If Bete wanted to become stronger, it was clear that he needed to focus on his little fan.

"Mr. Bete's other techniques?"

"Yes, just like you heard before. That guy named Gray Wolf, did he know about my 'Shura Kick'? Does he know about my other techniques?"

It was clear that Bete still had no idea that he had been played by Altair. Loki hadn't told him, and the others who knew had no intention of telling him either. So, he still thought he had figured it out on his own. Added to Ais and Tiona's performance, it made him believe that the techniques Altair had spoken about were indeed working.

"Mr. Bete, are you talking about the Wolf's Breath?"

"Yes! That's it!"

Bete clenched his fists with excitement. Altair had walked right into it!

"Could you tell me more about the Wolf's Breath? Oh, of course, it's not that I don't know it—I do, I used it in the dungeon, as you saw last time. But I want to know, what did that guy called Gray Wolf say about it? I want to know what others think of me."

To prevent Altair from suspecting anything, Bete even explained that although the guy called Gray Wolf had tricked him before, he was now really eager to know what else Gray Wolf might have exaggerated about his skills. The more detailed, the better!

Bete thought that if he could master the Shura Kick on his own, then surely mastering other techniques couldn't be more difficult than that. He was confident he could handle them.

Altair, of course, understood Bete's intentions. But the problem was, Altair couldn't just tell him everything right away. He couldn't simply say, "You'll learn it by magic." His skill wouldn't work on Bete now.

Wait a minute, although they weren't in the dungeon, they were in Loki's Familia, and Loki's Familia had plenty of people.

"Sure, Mr. Bete. Actually, I've been meaning to see which is stronger—your Wolf's Breath or Miss Tiona's Tempest Sword Technique. Tiona is in the courtyard right now. Why don't you go over and test it out with her?"

"Great!"

Bete immediately agreed to Altair's suggestion. He was eager to test his strength against Tiona, to see who was stronger. As for Ais, forget it. He didn't dare fight Ais. If he did, Loki would beat him up.

But with Tiona, Bete had no such concerns. He could fight her without any issue.

"Let's go, I'll take you there."

Bete put his arm around Altair's shoulder and led him toward the courtyard.

In the courtyard, the members of Loki's Familia had gathered, watching Ais and Tiona show off their newly gained abilities. Ais had already demonstrated hers once, but there was no harm in doing it again—this time, they could compare the strengths of their abilities.

When Bete and Altair arrived, those who knew Altair greeted them warmly.

Bete nodded arrogantly, not saying a word, carrying his idol image proudly. As for Altair, he responded to everyone with a smile.

"Tiona, you've got a new ability, would you like to practice with me?"

Bete, ignoring everyone else, called directly to Tiona, who was in the middle of the field.

"Sure!"

Tiona, who had been called out, didn't mind at all and immediately agreed. She was also a combat enthusiast. Since Bete wanted to practice, it was a perfect opportunity for her to see how her newly acquired power compared to Bete's skills from before!

"Then, for this match between Miss Tiona and Mr. Bete, let me be the commentator."

Altair naturally decided to take up the role of the commentator.
