Invincible: The Emperor

*Universal Date: 1st Millennium*

*1st POV*

When I was created, I knew all that I needed to know, I knew of humanity and its possibilities alongside the technology they would create. I knew of the countless species that populated the stars, and I held a stern face knowing that the five shamans that created me used their very essence and being to gift birth to my soul. All that was left, was to find a proper body and one that would handle my power. 

Flowing through the great seas of souls gave me some perspective on the current state of affairs at least concerning humanity. I saw that civilizations were rising and growing into power, and humanity was slowly but surely advancing in its own way, worshipping gods that would only feed into the chaos, the immaterial realm I saw the first time I opened my eyes. 

It was an odd experience seeing both the material world and the immaterial world all at once as the sea of souls flowed through both. Sending both new and old souls back into the universe as the various species across the universe emotions fed into the immaterial realm, into three beings whose forms have yet to materialize or even form a conscience fully. 

It didn't matter for right now though as I couldn't stop this natural occurrence well no using the vast majority of my psychic abilities it was possible. That would require me however to focus all of my energy on such a task diverting the waves of emotion towards somewhere else, probably me. It would eventually corrupt me and turn me like them, becoming focused solely on growing my influence/growing stronger in my domain whatever that may be.

No that would be a corruption of my purpose for being and would disgrace the five beings who gave their entire existence for my sake. Right now I would need to study to plan things out and choose that which would become my new vessel. 

Which would probably take a long time.

*Universal Date: 2nd Millennium*

A new millennium has arrived and yet not a single body that would be able to contain my soul and power has been born yet. During my time in the realm of souls, I learned a bit about the universe whilst staying near the sea of souls that would be born on Earth. 

I learned of a particularly violent race that conquered planet after planet or was starting to at least. It looked as though they were just starting but their powerful physical abilities were no doubt useful for such a task. There were a few more whose technological advancements would be useful for advancing Earth and humanity as a whole. However, some of it would be incompatible with Earth and humanity's fleshy exterior without some form of genetic improvement or modification in the case of others. 

During my time drifting through Earth's river of souls, I was able to learn a bit more information about a certain individual. One man who was immortal in a different way from my own or at least I assume so. 

He was much older than I was, I could sense that his soul was perhaps from around the caveman era. At least somewhere around that time if I'm completely honest but even then I was by no means an expert on the subject of souls nor could anyone claim to be a true expert well not without corrupting themselves to such an insane degree at least. Magic wasn't a natural part of the world after all and would only lead a person down a dark path. 

Even psychics like myself would corrupt themselves if we weren't too careful, after all the immaterial realm would be useful but it has its limits. A price to pay so to speak and whether or not you wanted to you would. 

Anyway searching the world for a suitable bloodline that would eventually birth my physical vessel was tiring, to say the least. Humanity was developing physically as well as mentally in small waves but it would take quite a long time before a body that could house me would be born. 

Well, perhaps I could influence a family's genetic bloodline to help one day create my own. Interfering too much could have adverse effects on my own mind and lead to my eventual corruption. No, it needed to be subtle to only be the barest of influence on the mind and body of a family that would be in a position I could use to my advantage. 

At least if they were positioned in the right area somewhere in what would become the America's eventually. Preferably North America somewhere in the United States which would become a major powerhouse in multiple futures. With only a few exceptions here and there but most of the time they were. 

That and with some proper connections here and there, with some corrupt government officials it would be easy enough to gain influence in their government. Wouldn't be proud of it but If it was for humanity it would all be worth it, and eventually I'd have to get rid of them anyway as chaos could gain a foothold earlier than initiated if something went wrong, then you wouldn't want people like them in charge. 

Eventually, I'd be able to directly influence the policies and laws that would go into effect and plant myself as king or emperor whichever title would work better. Although it wouldn't matter, in fact, none of it would if I didn't find the proper body, one that didn't explode once my soul went into it.

Traumatized a few families or couples when I tried to enter the body of a random newborn. A frustrating but necessary learning experience and another lesson on why I need to hone my own psychic abilities/peer into the future a bit. Didn't want to rely on it though as concentrating too much on a random possible future would just make it happen instead. 

Well, no matter as I found the proper bloodline that would help me, one whose future would take them to the U.S. eventually. A simple farming family that would suffer a bit well a lot actually before making their way to America. 

It didn't matter though as I extended my hand out beginning to manipulate their genes on a cellular level making sure their bodies would be able to reproduce/evolve to form my body eventually.

Again a bit embarrassing and something to not be proud of in the long run but if it would help humanity then it must be done.
