Chapter 250: Glimmer Of Hope
"The restrictions on the Lower World have been destroyed, but the Angel created a temporal one that will last for six months," Sunny explained, his golden gaze fixed on Josephine:
"I am thinking I should unlock Ellen's true powers, let her use this time to master them. If not Ellen, I'll unlock Jinx's." He let out a long, careful exhale. "I need your input on this. Should I do it?"
Josephine was silent. Sunny had been thorough, detailing the nature of Ellen's and Jinx's formidable, yet dangerous, bloodlines, and the ominous threat posed by Lester. She knew this was not a casual tactical question, but a foundational one about their family's safety.
"With your current army—the God-rank summons and mercenaries—we have enough military power to hold our own against any known entity," she began, choosing her words carefully.
"But we know absolutely nothing of Lester. He might have armies for whom God-rank warriors are mere distractions. We cannot risk a reactive move." She met his gaze directly, her worry a tangible thing, but her resolve firm. "For now, my love, I say you shouldn't."
Sunny turned in confusion, seeking logic from his Queen. "Why?"
Josephine sighed, her eyes drifting across the lavish room as if seeing beyond its walls to the galactic battlefield: "You saw what happened with Lilith," she reasoned, her voice lowering with gravity.
"Only a fragment of her power treated God-rank warriors like trash. Thinking about her true self, or Lester's, gives me a chill I cannot ignore. Unlocking their bloodlines now is like putting a target on their backs. Not yet."
Sunny considered her logic. She was right; power without sufficient protection was a vulnerability.
"What should I do then?"
Josephine didn't hesitate; a plan, bold and strategic, had already formed:
"We should travel to the Great World, break through the God-rank, and become true powerhouses. If you and I can both acquire the strength of Fifth Order or above, then we can protect them from anything."
"Wait, We?" Sunny was visibly stunned, the word catching him completely off guard.
"Yes, We!" Josephine repeated, her expression serious, her intent absolute. Her dependency on him had vanished, replaced by a fierce partnership.
"You are not going alone."
"If you come with me, what about Eldoria? And Ellen?" His concern was genuine.
"Ellen is strong enough to take care of herself; she has proven that today," Josephine said, her voice filled with maternal pride.
"Not only that, Star and the others will be here. They will manage Eldoria's expansion." She reached out, taking his hand.
"You don't have to overthink this, Love. We have only six months. We must take over the Star Nation in two months—that's the only way to eliminate a threat and keep everyone safe here while we're gone."
She pulled her hand back, her brow furrowed slightly in a realistic assessment. "I said two months because of the competition we are hosting in a month. That leaves us four months to get to Fifth Order. Even to me, that sounds impossible..." She shook her head lightly, acknowledging the absurdity of the timeline.
"With the highest known cultivation resources, it takes a year just to jump from Celestial to Divine rank. We're talking about blasting past God-rank into the Fifth Order!" She raised a hand, a gesture of determined defiance.
"I am just a Divine-rank warrior now, not even God-rank. But it won't stop me." She turned back to Sunny, her face alight with an infectious, ambitious glow.
"With us together, we will get stronger faster. The Mate Bond works both ways. And also..." Her expression softened, a seductive smile touching her lips.
"I get to spend more time with my husband."
Sunny fell silent, a part of him deeply enjoying her drive and the logic of her plan. But a critical counterpoint remained.
He slowly removed his fur coat, then his tunic. While his physical injuries had been instantly healed by his skills, the chilling mark Lilith had left on him—the subtle, skull tattoo—was still visible on his otherwise perfect skin.
"What is this?" Josephine moved her finger over the skull, her gaze lifting to his.
"Lilith marked me. The moment I leave the Lower World, she will always keep an eye on me," Sunny explained:
"I have a way to hide my presence, but only in the lower and upper Worlds. The moment I set foot in the Great World, the mark will alert her."
"You will be hidden in the Lower and Upper Worlds. But can't we get stronger in the Upper World?" she pressed, her mind already working on a solution.
"The Upper World is fine, but it doesn't have the sheer volume of cultivation resources needed to get us to the Fifth Order in less than four months," Sunny pointed out.
{Master. If the system gets upgraded to the next level, I can remove the mark on you.}
Sunny paused. 'Really?! That means I will need the Omni Soul Stone. If I get stronger, Josephine and my Subordinates will also get stronger. The more kills Josephine makes, the more EXP I will gain. Taking her along isn't a bad thing at all. It removes the boredom in traveling alone and drastically increases our progression speed.'
With his final decision made, Sunny finally nodded, a warm, decisive smile breaking through his seriousness.
"Okay, Jo. After the competition, I will send a submission letter to the Star Nation. I know Matilda and Gabriel; they will refuse it, and if they do... I will attack."
"But attacking without a reason—won't that make you a tyrant in the eyes of the remaining nations?" Josephine asked, her strategic mind adding a layer of political caution.
"Not really." Sunny smirked, a predatory glint returning to his eyes. He was already planning the maneuver.
"I will use the threat of the Blood Queen in Matilda against her. I'll frame the attack as a necessary preemptive strike to save the Lower World from her inherent corruption. That is a good trap."
"Okay. So you are taking me with you?" Josephine asked again, the seriousness of the conversation replaced by a hopeful, feminine anticipation.
Sunny nodded, leaning in to plant a kiss on her forehead, a promise sealed. "Yes. We rise together."
"Lovely!"
Her excitement boiled over. She jumped to her feet, her Queenly reserve completely gone. Josephine dropped gracefully between his legs, her hands already working on the buckle of his pants.
"You must be exhausted from saving the world," she purred, licking her lips seductively, a primal need for intimacy overriding all else. "Let me help you relax."
Sunny leaned back onto the bed, a deep, satisfied sigh escaping him, ready for the earned pleasure that followed. The race to the Fifth Order had just begun.
